I'm totally with you on the getting hooked with larger scale projects. I think with the ever growing scale of builds it's really hard to know where to draw the line. Sometimes it feels impossible to make the more relaxed paced videos because of the competition, but definitely something every creator needs to do for there own sanity. Great video and build as always buddy, I look forward to seeing more of your smaller build projects =)

People don't stick around because of the 100 day challenge, or the "this is crazy" clickbait.
People stick around for the art style, for the quality, and for the creations.
But most importantly, they stick around for the person or team that is doing the creating.

The whole trend of building bigger is coming to an end, I think. We're seeing it all over the place. A lot of creators are starting to make classic let's play videos like Etho did way back when he started. We're going simple, relaxed, and laid back again! I'm loving this trend.

      @Emily.R.W 6 месяцев назад +19

I definitely agree. It’s one of the reasons why Grian has been really successful this HC season. He’s having a ton of fun.
I think this trend is because a lot of the og gaming video viewers from 2014 are adults now and prefer calmer content. While new, younger, viewers are coming, there’s now a significant adult viewership for the gaming scene, which there wasn’t before. Unlike cooking videos as an example, since a 10-16yr old might be less likely to watch them compared to a gaming video.
Most of us have, after all, grown up while watching our favourite creators.

I’d love to see some like 2-3 part videos maybe taking a slower look at building and detailing a couple pieces to a village like one focusing on a simple creepy village and. Hopefully something works out where you can do what you like and not get burnt out

It's not youtube that kills it(mostly), it's us, viewers that shape youtube.
RUclips is interested in people spending as much time on the platform as possible, if people click on your videos less and don't even watch them entirely, stopping halfway - youtube sees it as your content being uninteresting to viewers and recommends it less, because there is only certain amount of videos you can recommend out of 10000000 existing on youtube

I think a video about how you detail builds would be nice. Maybe one that goes over your building style, how you decide on gradients, and what a building should look like. • @srensen3081

      practice practice practice
as for tools, i believe there is a gradient generator for minecraft blocks
use that to get the general idea of how you want your gradient to look, then try to incorporate it into your build
eventually, youll find that youve gotten way better at gradients

i love the smaller, more relaxed videos! you have obviously given much thought to your situation and how minecraft build content will always funnel into bigger, crazier builds, which then lead to a burnout. And while i do enjoy these kinds of builds, it can feel exhausting. i have found to take more appreciation in the smaller, cozier builds, as they usually are more detailed. But most of all, i wouldn't want to watch someone exhaust themselves in workload, just to see bigger, more extreme minecraft creations. So let me just say, no matter what, your content is absolutely amazing and still will be, regardless of the size - as long as you don't overwork yourself :)

Jera, I had been following you for years. To give you context; I bought your minecraft sword usb, with the world downloads, back when you were raising money to upgrade your PC. I followed for the smaller content, like the medieval tutorials. The epic stuff as great at first, but over time I drifted away because that was not what was here for.
I came back to check things out today because I've recently started a private Empires SMP-style server with my mates, and I remembered these good old days.
This smaller content that you are more comfortable with is what really keeps me going. This is the stuff I'd rather see more often. I miss the days of looking up more modest medieval house/building/ship/castle tutorials to take inspiration and ideas from in my own projects. Hello @Jeracraft
I've started watching your videos a few years ago and was especially fascinated by the project "Kingdoms of Greymane". With every new episode I thought that the build was acctually alive and the people living there would help expand the world.
I love your eye for detail, like everything has its own story and special purpose. I've also enjoyed your server-project to bring a world even more to live with real players who can explore your custom map, build civilization and write history together.
I personally would also enjoy a more frequent upload-rhythm and see your builds grow.
Go on and build the world you want!

As a person that loves to pick up the Minecraft shovel as well to build some cool stuff, I enjoy the smaller scaled projects way more. You can soak up so much more inspiration you can actually use in your own builds.

To be honest I've been watching your stuff for a few years now and I feel like you're content is so perfectly unique and calm while still having the fun atmosphere. Keep up the good work, it's the small things that count.

I really like your building tip videos, it helps add ten times more detail to literally anything I build and I need to re-watch some of them right now for my new survival world. (I'm 4 days late to watching this from being busy so I know you might not see this but I really do appreciate the original content you make, not a single video goes unwatched all the way through)

I used to watch you back when I didn't have a RUclips account, following your tutorials for my own worlds, and out of all the videos that was recommended to me, this one came up. So now with a RUclips account 8 years later, I can happily say I'm subscribed. Keep up the great work m8!

This feels like a massive build. I can barely manage my own house in minecraft lol. It's really cool seeing how people build things, even small things, especially small things I can copy in my own game to learn some techniques. So thank you for this!

I have been following you for years now, and I'm sad seing you struggle finincially. You are for many people the best minecraft builder and many people would love to buy a course from you about building.
It doesn't need to be something crazy, maybe a course between the range of 30-50$.

I can’t afford to become a patron right now, but I have been watching this channel for 6+ years and as much as I love the giant mega projects this video was one of my favorites you’ve made in a very long time. The smaller project made it feel more personal and I really enjoyed the fact that you talked about things other than just the project as you were building. Your content has encouraged me to keep building and stay creative over the years, thank you for all the inspiration.

As an idea, I loved your tutorial of a castle build, showing us in real time, step by step, how to build it. Maybe doing more shorter videos like that, so we can try out your own builds like the cottages, marketplaces, fisheries, and even small towers, can be great.

I think having a series on a smaller project might be cool! Like smaller higher details, a town like the one in this video but over the span of 3-5 episodes with more storytelling- as it’s your storytelling in builds that I’m here for!

Yo Jera! I've been a fan of your content ever since I was a little kid, I remember coming home from school and just staring in awe at your videos like that one nether fortress transformation and your end portal tower and trying to make something similar in pocket edition (I failed miserably) you are pretty much the reason I started to enjoy minecraft! Its cool that you are trying new things and im really glad youve sticked to quality over quantity! Me personally I'd love to see videos where you try to step out of your comfort zone or make designs people havent made before, or maybe even a survival world at your own pace! Thank you for continuing to make content and I wish you the best!

There are a lot of good suggestions in the comments already, and one thing I'd really love to see from you are some different building styles - your fantasy stuff is really great, and I'd kill to see how you'd tackle a more Sci-Fi styled structure!
As grand as the large builds, landscapes and epic structures are, "smaller" builds like this village (which is still huge by most peoples' standards lol) are so much more detailed that I actually prefer them. Make the content *you* want to make! Keep experimenting, keep creating, and I know for certain I'll keep watching :)

There are so many things I would love to see you expand on. Like a survival series where you’re still building but you have added struggles and the videos are smaller. Tutorials of building! There’s always a lack of actual explaining tutorials like why you do this. Other games! Do you build in other games? Do you have the same skills?

I would love if you could make an update video about your Minecraft server, just chilling with the community and show some of the new builds and projects or just a vid promoting the server by showing how nice the community is 😊.
I’m playing in your server for a few months now and I feel that a vid would boost the server😊

I really think that returning to this "old" format will be very beneficial for the channel. After years and years of Minecraft contest across the entire platform, I can easily say you have the upmost talent for design and details. You should 100% do whatever content you want, at your own pace and not burn out or stress over the youtube algorithm. Your videos are always enticing to sit through because your skill is second to none, so just do you and take care of yourself and happiness
