      @@SheraNomi'm only an archaeology enthusiast but i enjoyed it for the same reason! your choices were very interesting. have you seen the channel Daskalos (i think that's how it's spelt)? he's an actual archaeologist who's doing a semi-RP series restoring an ancient city. you might enjoy it ^_^
      on the ice house. the ice lasting for centuries is certainly questionable haha. (i liked how you reasoned around anachronisms like that.) the concept itself, however (even in an arid environment), isn't so far-fetched! google "yakhchāl"; according to the wiki page, the word now means "refrigerator", but they were originally buildings in which ancient Persians (who lived around modern-day Iran/Afghanistan/Tajikistan) created and stored ice! ancient peoples were far more resourceful than we often realise haha.
      the ancient city, the bastions and the end cities all fascinate me. i enjoyed seeing your interpretation - thanks for sticking with it, even through all that footage you lost! it was great ^_^

      She also seems to think like an anthropologist. A friend who also studied anthropology once said that the reaction to old cultures is that if you don't understand the meaning of a place or object, there must be a religious reason. Just like the portals in the barracks, which she made into a temple.

    6:44 An ice house does make sense in this situation, esspecially for a warm climate. Since before electric refridgeration, you'd have a truck come around every week like the Milkman and drop off a block of ice that you'd shove into the bottom of your fridge. As for ice surviving that long, yeah no. But Minceraft doesn't have to make sense

      @@vvvwwvvvw Actually, caves - especially deep caves - are excellent at keeping the heat out because stone happens to be a horrible heat conductor, meaning the heat of the sun can't travel far into a mountain. Which is one of the reasons why mine shafts are always so cold.
      But what this means is that, even in central Europe (Germany and the like), it was a common practice before refrigeration existed to store buttloads of ice and snow in caves during the winter, where it would mostly remain throughout the year and could be used to chill substances for the process of beer brewing.

    Everything perfect, but just one mistake: ice houses were pretty common until the 20th century as there wasn't electricity, so people used natural ice that they got from mountains during winter to store it in a secluded, termally stable environment so it wouldn't liquify, and with it to store any sort of goods that can perish, especially food. That's why, after finding the chest in the ice house, you find some suspicious stews and snowballs in it.
    And yeah, there's also a way to conserve food by using salt, but since salt hasn't been added in Minecraft yet...

My village has a cave which is called something like ice cave because it was well insulated and people put ice in there in the winter and then stored their drinks and easily spoiled food in there in the summer. It turned out to be an atmospheric place. I have never seen light blocks used for the restoration of an ancient city.
    It's cool that your friends helped you. I love working in a team.

    I do imagine that the ancient city used to be a desert castle or a trading hub, but the way you did it brought new light to it! Cheers from America!

    I saw a theory that the wood and blue carpet/camp parts of the ancient city were built by pillagers on their explorations of the world, that's why there's dark oak and piles of blue carpet that match the ones in the woodland mansions. The small wooden watch towers are also similar to pillager outposts. So that's in line with your treasure hunting theory! Great video, it turned out so beautiful!

    Ice houses make sense for food storage. Ice could have been cut from nearby mountains and hauled down for storage to keep food stores cold.

    This is such an incredible build truly beautiful, I’m a little sad you didn’t build any science buildings because a big part of the ancient city is their quest to make the portal and in the original ruined version there are a few buildings that have experimental science stuff and it would have been really cool to see you make those, other than that I don’t think I’ve seen such a cool recreation in a long time

    Wouldn’t it be cool if the lore was that when the ancient builders tried to activate the portal it actually malfunctioned and teleported the whole city - from a different dimension. Like how sometimes nether portals and ned portals will sometimes deposit you underground or inside solid rock at weird elevations and you have to dig your way out. So if there’s a future update to the game that allows you to reconstruct the portal, it would pull you and the whole city back to its original dimension, whatever that is

    • @brokenpixie1588
      @brokenpixie1588 2 месяца назад

      And maybe the portal did teleport just some parts of the city because it was unstable? That is such a cool idea!
