Sharks - Beauties Not Beasts

What if I told you that most of the information you think you know about sharks is a lie? What if I told you that most of the shark movies you’ve seen are about as real as Cinderella is? If you were to set aside the movie, JAWS, and the attention-hungry media headlines screaming, “shark attack”, is there any information left for you to form an accurate opinion of these animals? These are the questions I often ask people when they say they’re afraid of sharks despite never having encountered one. They say that sharks are the scariest things in the ocean, though an ocean without sharks is what they should be most afraid of. People often panic when they see a shark in the ocean, but where else do you expect to see a shark? Shouldn’t we be more concerned about seeing a shark swimming downtown in a big city or better yet seeing a shark on a plate in a restaurant?… To have knowledge without wisdom is a waste. Sharks are beauties, not beasts. Take the time to learn factual information about them instead of being paralyzed by fear and emotion.
