Hey friends. I feel the need to update you all. About 3 weeks ago my Amazon press went out on me. When turned on … the power switch would light up but the press would not heat up. I reached out to the company but never got a response. I ordered a new press attachment from a different company but that still didn’t fix the issue. Mind you the day before it went out I had pressed about 20 tumblers back to back and didn’t give the machine any downtime. I ended up taking it apart and tried my best to troubleshoot with the help of YT. No luck. A good friend who can fix just about anything took a look at it and said that he discovered a bad lead wire. He replaced the wire and said it’s heating just fine. I should have it back in my possession next week and will put it back to use. I truly believe this is a great machine but I overheated it or overused it that day.
Hi Karen have you had any further problems with your tumbler press as alot of people have been saying there tumbler press has been bubbling up and malfunctioning, and the company do not respond
To much pressure usually causes the tape marks and stickiness. All you have to do is wash it and the tape mark and stickiness should go away. Thank you for this video.
Btw, thank you SOOOO MUCH for this video comparison! I just took the jump and bought the htvront tumbler press but am getting it returned. I’m so glad I didn’t end up being disappointed when I tried to do a camp mug and it didn’t fit!
I’m so glad you found it helpful! Definitely do your research! I have to tell you.. my amazing one went out on me about 2 weeks ago and I couldn’t get a response from the company but a techy friend was able to fix it!!! But… in the meantime I got a new press from PYD LIFE. It arrived a few days ago and I will be demoing it in the next few days. Thanks so much for watching!
@jilljackson5419 actually just messaged my friend and he said it had a signal wire go bad and it was an EASY fix. Again.. I think it was my own fault for overusing it.
I do 15 ounce ceramic cups using my new Htvfront. It is a VERY tight fit. But they turn out well. I had problems using it in my basement. The power would often just blink. When I put a cup in it, it would work but it would heat up with the cup in it. So I had to keep increasing the time. But when I brought it up stairs and use a different outlet, it does now work.
Thanks! This is an awesome video. I also use the minimum amount of tape, and I re-use it too! For printing I use the Epson 2800 that I put sublimation ink into. My Cricut mug press just died and I need something new, this video has really helped me decide. Thanks!

Aww thank you! I greatly appreciate you watching! I’ve never had to use a color chart. This is how it’s printed from day one out of the box. It’s a really great sublimation printer!
Appreciate the comparison video. The struggle is real trying to decide which is best press. I noticed in the background some tumblers on a rotating stick if you will. Can you demo or tell what the purpose is? Asking because I have one gifted to me that I have no idea what it’s for.
Glad you found the video helpful! Yes .. those are tumbler turners. I have tons of tumbler videos where you’ll see me using them. Those are used when using epoxy or Crystalac topcoats on say like glitter tumblers. They constantly turn to keep the topcoat level. 😊
Thank you so much for that. I was having a horrible time getting it to upload and 300p was the only quality I could get it to save in. 🫤 I really appreciate you watching.
I do a lot of sublimation tumblers also and regardless of what machine you use I feel that taping like you did for the htvront is the best because you get complete color to the rim. Just my opinion, but every crafter crafts differently and It’s what you prefer.
I bought a tumbler press I used 365 degrees for 60 sec turned and repeated then took out and cooled took off paper and all the color was very faded not hardly any color at all
@lavadamcmeen5380 how strange. So there was still a lot of ink on your paper? Maybe try pressing a bit longer. Not sure what brand of press you got but they do seem to heat differently… or at least my two do.
I had a sticky film on my tumblers also. I taped it pretty tight. I used alcohol to remove the film. I rec’d my HTVRONT Heat Press yesterday. It smoked so much I wasn’t sure if I wanted to use it. I opened the window and turned on the ceiling fan to get the smoke and the smell to leave the room…🤦🏽♀️
Thanks for the advice! I over-tape if anything and like you I also need a tape dispenser! 😡 Love your enthusiasm, skill, and personality! And by the way, I love MakerFlo! I got my printer (Epson F170, just like yours) from them!
I bought the Makerflo sublimation bundle with the F170 and the Htvront tumbler press. I tried it out last night. I had some ghosting so I hope my technique improves 😊
Awesome press, I've beed looking for something better than what i'm doing. I have had a vinyl graphics machine for 20 years but time comsuming. I'm going to research this some more and may go that route.
I am looking to purchase a mug/tumbler press but I don't want to buy a sublimation printer. Can you purchase prints already made so I can use them? Also, you did an excellent job doing your comparison. Thanks!
Thank you so much for your tutorial, you’re Amazing and I’m subscribing to your channel. I have ghosting with a couple of tumblers using the auto press and got disgusted. And I used a lot of tape in which like you I don’t like using. I have an old press and oven and I like those! But I’ll attempt the way you taped them, but I also use parchment paper as well to prevent bleeding onto the press. Thank you so much! Happy crafting!
Awww… well thank you very much! I think this tumbler press could definitely use some improvements. We shouldn’t have to work so hard to get a good press the first time. I wish you luck and thanks so much for subscribing!
Great color on your cups. But question. So on the htv rant tumbler press you actually did 120° twice? And in your opinion heating your tumbler for so long did not burn the tumbler? I bought my htv rant a couple weeks ago and I heated mine for 375 for 70 seconds and my black comes out more brown. I guess i need to adjust my time and temperature.😊
Thanks! I really haven’t had any issues with it burning my colors. Yeah .. you might need to adjust your time and temp a bit. I’ve found that what works for others doesn’t always work for me. Sometimes you just gotta play around with the settings.
I just use a Epson wf 2010. All i did was buy the emptry cartridges and refill them myself each time with sub ink, onky takes 10 mins. I did have a ecotank but there are issues because ecotanks have a permanent print head if you go a week or less if its warm weather without using it you have to keep doing head cleans and eventually after doing too many it messes up the printer and has to be chucked away.
Mine arrives tomorrow, i mostly do full wraps but 90% of what i sell are 11oz mugs So i am hoping when putting 2 in at a time they turn out ok, i always tape all around top and bottoms as even with my normal mug press i sometimes get where edges have not pressed correct
About that film that was on your tumbler. I'm having the same problem with both tumblers and glass cans. I think it's the HTVRont. I've tried taping differently, using different sublimation paper and it still happens. I really think it's the machine. Don't have that problem with my other mug press.
Thanks for commenting. I was able to rinse it off. I believe the paper got overheated and just stuck to the tumbler creating sort of a film/grainy feel. But it for sure washed right off. Thanks for watching!
It would really depend on the diameter of the water bottle. I think I mentioned that nothing larger than the size of a coffee mug would fit. But again there are different sizes and diameters.
@@karenbaskettdiyer I had rewatched that after I posted this question and seen another one of your videos that mentioned that too. Thanks for your reply
You always do such a good job explaining everything! I love the sleek look of the HTVRont press. It really has a clean look to it. I make mostly the tall tapers, 30oz tumblers and a lot of the bigger water bottles. So that just wouldn’t work for me. But for someone who just does the 20 oz skinny’s, I’m sure it’s great. I had that gritty feeling on the very first one I did with that same (other) heat press you have and yes, it washes right off. (FYI: I do not like the tape dispenser I have. I’ll have to let you know which one NOT to get! 😝) Thanks for the video!!
I have a couple of questions…. I noticed that the temp on the HTV press was 20 degrees higher than on your OG press. I thought the time & temp were set by the mfg / material. Since everything except the press were the same, wouldn’t the temp also be? I’ve had the “film” show up when my temp was too high or I pressed too long. If it’s not too bad, it may wash off. I did bake the “snot” out of one that did not survive, though. Could the difference in the temps be the reason?
The HTVRont actually has suggested settings for stainless 370-390 for 120-240sec, glass and ceramic are different. My original one does not so I just had to play around with it, google it, read reviews and figure out the best temp. It took a few tries but the 365 for 60x2 is what I found worked best. Not sure if you noticed but the HTVRont paper was browned when I took it out... so I think that it did cause the paper to stick. Just had never happened to me before but I washed it right off.
Karen, Could you please show us what product or I guess program you use for the image's? I am having a all full time with the sizing. It says it is 9.3 x 8 2 but prints it a lot smaller.
I get most of my wraps from Creative Fabrica. I download them and I open the download and click command P to open my printer. I print it just as it is. I don’t have to change the size or anything. Usually if it is a true 20 ounce skinny wrap it’s already 9.25 x 8“ when I download it.
I was noticing that even on the HTVRont YT shorts and videos they don’t shrink wrap when using their own tumbler press. Also I’m not seeing it in the users guide. To be honest i think this machine really should do it’s job in one press we shouldn’t have to come up with ways to “make it work. “ I believe it could use some improvements. I have although started using a bit more tape and that has helped. 🙂
@@karenbaskettdiyer Yes I’m pretty disappointed in it with the ghosting. I’m going to,use it for mugs only now since I can do 2 at a time but even the 15oz is a very tight fit. I will stick to my lil PYD oven . Takes more time but never get ghosting.
I have just made 2 tumblers for the very first time, I have watched many videos on this subject, but mine both came out with a noticeable seam :( still love them both, but the seam? I also noticed the tap marks on my 20oz and the 12 oz using the HTVRONT tumbler press. bummer. thought it was just me. how is that happening when I have it on the outside of the Sub paper??
Hi! Several factors. Sounds like you might need to print your image a tiny bit larger to avoid a seam. I’ve never really experienced tape marks. Just be sure that you’re using as a little tape as possible and barely overlapping it onto where your image shows if that makes sense..? I don’t use a lot of tape. It could also be a pressure issue if your machine is applying too much pressure than that could cause tape marks I would think. Sometimes these machines are pretty finicky . I’m sorry I’m probably not a lot of help.
Yes.. I have an Epson f170 printer. I print my images from Creative Fabrica! They have a ridiculous amount of options!!! Here’s my affiliate link if you’d like to check them out… www.creativefabrica.com/ref/1485167/
Well i got mine today and its going back lol i knew it, after trying the cricut one and 2 other variations of auto mug press machines. This is the worst because 11oz mugs barely fit in without the sub paper and parchment. With the sub paper etc on the mugs all taped tight and flat i can not just slide them inside i have to wiggle and tilt the mugs to get it to slide in this is causing the heat to message up the print with having to mess about getting them in Also when i did slide them in and it auto shuts there is not a even gap each side of the handle so the machine pushes the mug around and so the handle is flat against the side of the machine and you have the gap at the other side of the handle which is resulting in not enough heat and pressure at that side of the handle This press may be ok for non full wrap mugs but full wrap it sucks Last time.i trust HTVRONT tbh as thei normal autopress was crap too and you had to add extra padding to get it to work Wasted 4 mugs lol
Yikes sorry to hear that it didn’t work out for you. I think that this machine definitely could use some improvements. I happen to love the big heat press, and mine has never given me any issues. Thanks for watching and I hope you find the perfect press for your projects!
@@BigDaddyRyRy34 if you ordered via ebay or amazon do what i did...messaged them telling them it must be faulty as it is leaving ghosting and not enough pressure...also stated 11oz mugs barely even fit...i got a full refund and got to keep the tumbler press too lol
@@BigDaddyRyRy34 it is a crap machine though but it may come in handy for something at some point for me but if they had not refunded me without needing to return id have returned anyway
Oooo all that tape 😮 what I do miminal tape then when pressed I put the bottom of tumbler back in but just a couple inches press for 10 secs rotate a few inches press again and repeat all round then same for the top ... Result no ghosting .. I don't have auto press so not sure if still work on one of those ... Loved the video
Thanks Trevor. Thing about trying to press the ends in this auto press is that it causes it to close unevenly and I’m afraid that will mess the press up. I do believe this auto press needs some tweaking and improving. We shouldn’t have to try so hard with a machine that was created to do do sublimation tumblers.
@@karenbaskettdiyer yes my friend just had one and we struggled to do the camping mugs with a rim as you say the element comes in slanted and reduces the pressure .. I will stick with my manual tumbler press mind you that struggles with these tin mugs I have to use a single mug press . Cheers 👍👍
Thank you for your video! Do you have a tutorial on how you print out your designs? Do you use Preview on Mac or Photoshop to print them out? I noticed when I used a PDF File and printed using Preview from Mac the colors needed more pop. Any advice would be helpful.
Hi Angie! I haven’t made a specific video on ho I print things out but I have shown my process in 2 videos I believe. Basically if I get a png from Creative Fabrica or Etsy I download it. I then open it up and click command P to print it. Most of the time they are already sized to fit a 20oz skinny. Sometimes I have to increase the size by a small %.
Hummm.... I'm not sure. There are several factors to consider... too high of heat, the kind of tumbler and the kind of sublimation paper. I've never experienced a color change so I'm certain.
@karenbaskettdiyer this is the first time for me it was supposed to be the Dallas cowboy blue on my tumbler, and after it set, uncovered about 1 hour I looked and it turned purple . It is a mystery
Why don’t you heat the old press with a tumbler in it like the instruction and the front of the machine warns you to. You can ruin your machine and void your warranty.
To be really honest, I followed the instructions and watched a video that they have listed on their Amazon listing. The manufacture has a demo video and they do not have a mug in it while preheating.

yes.. I get them from Makerflo. Here’s my affiliate link… makerflocrafts.com?sca_ref=661679.7JNknbxrD9
@@karenbaskettdiyer can you tell me the diameter of the mug? It doesn’t say on the description.
Does your older press do larger than 30oz, like the water bottles etc.
Yes… as long as you rotate the tumbler. I can fit straight sided tumblers … a variety of sizes.
I HAVE USE THE BLUE PAINTERS TAPE IT WORKS
Thanks… I’ll have to try that!
I have F170 printer. I absolutely love it
I use an Epson F170, great printer.
Yes.. agreed!
Where do you get the images? Do you have a printer ? I’m looking just to do words on mine, what can i use?
Yes.. I have an Epson f170 printer. I print my images from Creative Fabrica! They have a ridiculous amount of options!!! Here’s my affiliate link if you’d like to check them out… www.creativefabrica.com/ref/1485167/
What is your original heat press?
My original one is the one from Amazon… I have it linked in the video description. 😊
I have a question why you don’t use butcher paper?
I’ve never bought any bc I haven’t found it necessary. The way I’m doing it seems to work just fine…. So really no need for it. 😊
Can i use a silicone sleeve on the HTV Ront press?
To be honest I’m not certain. I will see what I can find out though!
Thanks
Loved the video very helpful
So glad to hear! Thanks for watching! 😊
Well i got mine today and its going back lol i knew it, after trying the cricut one and 2 other variations of auto mug press machines. This is the worst because 11oz mugs barely fit in without the sub paper and parchment.
With the sub paper etc on the mugs all taped tight and flat i can not just slide them inside i have to wiggle and tilt the mugs to get it to slide in this is causing the heat to message up the print with having to mess about getting them in
Also when i did slide them in and it auto shuts there is not a even gap each side of the handle so the machine pushes the mug around and so the handle is flat against the side of the machine and you have the gap at the other side of the handle which is resulting in not enough heat and pressure at that side of the handle
This press may be ok for non full wrap mugs but full wrap it sucks
Last time.i trust HTVRONT tbh as thei normal autopress was crap too and you had to add extra padding to get it to work
Wasted 4 mugs lol
Yikes sorry to hear that it didn’t work out for you. I think that this machine definitely could use some improvements. I happen to love the big heat press, and mine has never given me any issues. Thanks for watching and I hope you find the perfect press for your projects!
Yeah I think I'm sending mine back too. Wasted 3 tumblers!
Does anyone know how long the htvront press is supposed to last? Is the tumbler attachment replaceable???
I don’t have those answers… sorry. 🫤
Very informative! Thank you!! 🙏🙌
Glad it was helpful!
Cheers 👍👍
I was just able to get the green version of your Amazon press for about $90 after discounts. THANK YOU
Wow… that’s wonderful!
Is that the HTRont one?
Yes
Thank you!
From this side of the camera, looks like the HTVRont tumbler looks darker and not as bright
Yeah it might have been a tad darker.
Why would the color change from blue to purple after sublimation after it sat out about a hour? On a tumbler
I think it is the tumbler.
I’ve had the film before. Just wash it with soap & water. It comes off.
Yes,.. that's what ended up working for me too! :)
Hi karen, have you ever made a sublimation shirt with someone's photo. If you have may you tagg me in your video. Please and thank you. 😊
I haven't done any shirts. Just photo tumblers but I will certainly get a video in the works! Thanks for the inspiration! :)
Use a toothpick to hold your tape
Thanks!
cut your tape before and stick it to your hand
Great tip!
Alcohol will take off tape marks
Wipe it off with water
Thank you. I remembered seeing this happen to others and got it figured out. Thanks for watching!
