If you watched the series, this mother is way, way, way too attached to her daughter! Since the good doctor is analyzing the show, I wont give anything away, however, this woman is off her rocker! And needs some serious therapy!! and the sound of her voice is enough to make me want to throw up 🤮

They ended up walking to the hospital because "that's what 'mommy' did." In the end they did put their foot down, but the husband got the blame. Back at home, the mother has a little meltdown, and her husband tells her she needs to back up. The daughter does take step towards independence. Please do not ask me why I watched this trainwreck of a show! I think I need therapy! 😂

Personally, I think all the stress of telling everyone at the same time is just... unnecessary. But if that is important to the husband, and if telling the mom first is important to the wife, then they should have worked that out so that one isn’t hurting the other : /
But the baby is also the husband's too and his feelings is just as valid as his wife's; he should get a say in this baby announcement as well. She did say she'll "think about it but there's no guarantees" in the last episode but I can't imagine the stress between the husband and wife It's terribly sad that the wife feels obligated to announce it to her mom to avoid any kind of disappointment though.
Cher made a promise to abide by the decision to tell everyone together and she broke it. She in an awful immature extremely deceitful wife. He should leave her. He deserves better. Fancy having to deal with those screeching immature women! Not sure he really understood what it would be like once married to her. Those women are so deceitful that they might have played down their behaviour around each other to ensure that he would marry Cher. He just can’t trust her and above all else you need trust in a relationship to make it work and last.

She's soooo possessive of the daughter. The daughter seems happy not having boundaries with the mom, but the husband is clearly not happy about it, and that's definitely going to continue to cause issues. I'm also still wondering what they mean when they talk about telling the whole family at once. If it's just the parents, that makes sense to me, but if it's the parents, siblings, nieces/nephews, cousins, etc. it makes sense to me that she would feel her mom deserves to know before the entire extended family knows.
Why didn't Cher just say to Jared she has to tell her mom so while Cher is telling her mom and dad with her grandma mug and pregnancy test (eww), he could be with his parents and tell them in his own cute way? Then if they want, they can take all the future grandparents out for celebratory drinks so they can all cheers to the baby (except Cher of course). Seems simple to me.

I have to say that, as much as I find this mother-daughter relationship odd, I find it totally understandable that a daughter would want to talk with her mom about the (first) pregnancy separately. In my opinion, the pregnant woman is going through so much change (physically and psychologically) and the need for telling her mom and talking with her privately is a more urgent need than the husband's need to tell everybody at the same time. I think it would have been less conflictive if they had just decided to tell their parents separately and each on their own time. The needs of the new grandparents are not as important than the new parent's needs. I find the pressure and jealousy that sometimes comes from extended family very disruptive or even destructive.
Agreed! I told my mom before my husband told his parents because I needed to talk to someone about all of the changes I was going through. He never even questioned it.
The issue really isn't the order that the people are told in but that she had a conversation with her husband, agreed to a course of action and then did the total opposite of what they agreed to. It would be perfectly fine if she had talked to her husband, explained why it was important to her and they came to an understanding, that is healthy. What's not OK is lying to the husband and breaking the trust they have built as a couple. As you said " The needs of the new grandparents are not as important than the new parent's needs." that includes the husband's emotional needs. He isn't going through the same physical changes but as a father it's still an emotional time and a huge life change. Honesty and openness is important in those times.

It is so easy to see from the outside and have the perfect solution. But your solution might be not possible for everybody. Maybe she has never learned to disagree with a loved one? She has been put in a difficult situation by her mom and husband. What ever she decides will hurt someone she loves. So she does what I think, many people do: Tell the mom and ask her to pretend not to know. I am sure that half of the people here who now act so judgemental about her have done similar things in their life. I really do think that this kind of a behavior is extremely common. Maybe her husband could have considered the situation he is putting her in? and could have just spared her this kind of conflict. I think that the new mother deserves all our support to hopefully free herself from too controlling relationships.

I’m not pregnant yet or anytime soon but I honestly feel as if my mom would be EXTREMELY ANGRY and upset over me getting pregnant in the future. LIKE... *throw a vase at me* type of angry... I feel almost as if I’m stripped from one day having an emotional and happy moment with my mom when the day comes

The fact the mother is saying, "I really am so happy" makes it seem to me that she is trying to convince herself that she is happy when in reality she is scared.
This whole situation is making me cringe. Let's see how well this relationship (Cher and her husband) is doing in a couple years. If Jared wants to keep his family together and stay in this marriage, he is unfortunately going to have to accept the fact that his wife has absolutely no respect for his feelings and will always put her mothers feelings ahead of his. That is a recipe for disaster and I don't expect they will be together in the long run. The mom doesn't even realize that she is an active participant in the destruction of her daughters marriage. So sad
I can see this pregnancy going a few different ways. 1. The daughter is going to enjoy all of the help and attention 2. She’s going to become highly irritated with her mother’s intrusive behavior and start to pull away or 3. The mother will become jealous of her daughters bond with her new baby. I mean, Cher won’t be able to keep up with her mothers needs once she brings a child into this world. Her focus is going to shift entirely to her own child. It’s just what happens for most mothers. Their world becomes their child. I’d be interested in seeing how that all turns out.

It's one thing to wanna tell your mother on your own first, but to go against your husband's wishes on how they announce it is bad. These two are disturbing in how the mother is possessive of her daughter when her daughter has a whole life outside of her. Jared was right to want her not to tell her mother earlier than everyone else. This mother needs boundaries.

I lived this similarly but my husband was enmeshed and there were spousal replacement issues. That’s putting it mildly. I can’t share more. But these are so many red flags that will lead to a schism between the couple. She is married to her husband, not her mother.
One thing about the lying: maybe this smothering experience with her mom has made her into such a people pleaser that she felt she couldn't just tell it to her husband straight. Like maybe she is so used to protecting people's (her mom's) feelings that she was trying to do that with her husband by not just saying, "hey, this is important to me and is something I need to do and I'll deal with the repercussions."
Dawn set Cher up for this weirdness! I never have issues with my mom and my husband because there is no overlap between those 2 relationships. These are helpful insights.

The fact the mother is saying, "I really am so happy" makes it seem to me that she is trying to convince herself that she is happy when in reality she is scared.
This whole situation is making me cringe. Let's see how well this relationship (Cher and her husband) is doing in a couple years. If Jared wants to keep his family together and stay in this marriage, he is unfortunately going to have to accept the fact that his wife has absolutely no respect for his feelings and will always put her mothers feelings ahead of his. That is a recipe for disaster and I don't expect they will be together in the long run. The mom doesn't even realize that she is an active participant in the destruction of her daughters marriage. So sad

I can see this pregnancy going a few different ways. 1. The daughter is going to enjoy all of the help and attention 2. She’s going to become highly irritated with her mother’s intrusive behavior and start to pull away or 3. The mother will become jealous of her daughters bond with her new baby.
I mean, Cher won’t be able to keep up with her mothers needs once she brings a child into this world. Her focus is going to shift entirely to her own child. It’s just what happens for most mothers. Their world becomes their child.
I’d be interested in seeing how that all turns out.

It's one thing to wanna tell your mother on your own first, but to go against your husband's wishes on how they announce it is bad. These two are disturbing in how the mother is possessive of her daughter when her daughter has a whole life outside of her. Jared was right to want her not to tell her mother earlier than everyone else. This mother needs boundaries.

I'm actually kinda worried for the child if it turns out to be a boy. Cher seems like she'll neglect any sons and devote all of her attention into having and caring for a daughter. But I don't know, maybe she'll turn out to be a wonderful mother.

I lived this similarly but my husband was enmeshed and there were spousal replacement issues. That’s putting it mildly. I can’t share more. But these are so many red flags that will lead to a schism between the couple. She is married to her husband, not her mother.
Cringe face at 0:35 is a huge mood.
One thing about the lying: maybe this smothering experience with her mom has made her into such a people pleaser that she felt she couldn't just tell it to her husband straight. Like maybe she is so used to protecting people's (her mom's) feelings that she was trying to do that with her husband by not just saying, "hey, this is important to me and is something I need to do and I'll deal with the repercussions."
Dawn set Cher up for this weirdness! I never have issues with my mom and my husband because there is no overlap between those 2 relationships. These are helpful insights.
