    Thanks for the video. Helps me to understand the system and how to avoid fouling it up. If it does not exist i would be tempted to install some sort of restrictor to prevent the lines from ever being fully slack. In my mind this should "HELP" prevent the lines from getting tangled inside the mast.

    I was one of the first persons on the West Coast that had a in-mast furled main sail..It took me a while, to master it and it was a process..I would rather have a furled main on the boom..Its easier and fool proof.. If your furler (on the mast) jams---you are in trouble..On the boom,--- all you have to do is drop it..

      thanks for watching and sharing... we chartered in Turkey and had multiple jams over two weeks. Luckily in mild conditions and flat seas.

    I am thinking about getting a sailboat. Have not decided on monohull or catamaran. However, lots of seasoned monohulls out there that are still in good shape and easier on a working guy's budget. If this mast system gets jammed is it a hard mess to fix?

    • @searchingforcoconuts2248
      @searchingforcoconuts2248  2 года назад +2

      Sorry for the late reply, not sure how I missed this one... I can only comment on personal experience, while chartering in Turkey we had to take a hammer to it, as it jammed so bad at one stage. Nothing we could not sort out, but it would have been a different story if we needed to do this in rough conditions, up at the mast and in a hurry to reef

    What are we doing with the halyard for the mainsail??

    • @searchingforcoconuts2248
      @searchingforcoconuts2248  3 года назад

      the sail feeds into the tube and is hoisted with the halyard, which is then cleated off and not used till the sail needs to be taken off for whatever reason. Mostly cleated at the mast and forgotten, thanks for watching

    Mine is very hard to roll in or out...any suggestions?

    • @searchingforcoconuts2248
      @searchingforcoconuts2248  Год назад

      That's the downside to in-mast furling. When we chartered in Turkey we basically had to hit the furling hook with a hammer to get the first turn in. It should however, be easy enough to unfurl by hand. Your lines might not be running in an efficient angle and causing too much tension somewhere
