It can make calls, sms, surf the net, taking a photo and etc regardless of the chipset. Besides, if it runs smoothly, then there is no issue on that. What matters most is it functions as a smartphone. Then if there are apps or a function that only runs in SD 835 then that' is a point that we can raise to LG. If none, then all is well with current SD. :)

Incredibly insightful overview and comparison! I don't get why people are knocking the LG G6 so hard. I'm getting one for sure. To many people it isn't as desirable as a Pixel XL, iPhone 7 Plus or Samsung Galaxy S8 and doesn't speak to the imagination. I do think LG can still do better, because there were a lot of hardware restraints because of the early release date. Partially due to cutting corners too, so for the LG V30 and G7 they need to go all out!
great comparison! but I have to mention this. the macro shots of electronic board. yes, s8+ captures clear text. but that's only around the center part of the image. look at the rest of text away from the center. they are blurry just like the motion blur you get when capturing image of a moving object with slow enough shutter speed. and also the lines on the board look almost disappear as if the s8+ is trying to applying beauty effect on the board's surface. 2:28 s8+ smoothes the surface of the wall (upper area of the image) making the image look less pleasing.

A low light comparison would have been beneficial as most cameras do reasonably well in outdoor shots or artificial lighting conditions
Why is this channel so low in subs? I own an LG G6 and it is starting to slow down A LOT!! But I was hoping that I could get similar offering in another phone - 550+ PPI pixel density, QHD+ resolution, 32 bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, 3.5mm jack, IP67, fast charging, superb built, ultra wide angle camera and decently useful daylight photos. This video tells me that I should hold on to my G6 a bit longer.

Well, thank you for this excellent review. While most of the others just say: G6 is good, but S8 is just better (thereby frauding the results, since some of the shots taken with the G6 were so bad that even a 50$ phone would do better). Your review is simple, but efficient. Therefore I hereby crown you as the winner of the comparison between G6 and S8
the LG G6 front camera completely sucks for a device like this, even an S5 front camera wins. But the Back camera is a Great device, it even takes better pics than the S8 and Plus on daylight, but in the Night the brawl gets to Samsung.
There are a few issues with calling the G6 the best smartphone camera. these phones do a lot more than just take pictures. i think you should consider video, panorama, and even the front facing camera; which i might add, are nowhere near as good on the G6.
Randy Ajay The G6 doesn't need panorama since the wide angle can take better pictures than using panorama. Also the G6 has the most features especially in manual mode being able to adjust shutter speed as high as 30 seconds. No phone goes that high. With that one can even capture images of the stars. I do with my G5 in manual mode. LG really makes amazing cameras.
SDav21 30 second shutter? Lol my budget phone Zenfone Max also does that, not only LGs. Even OnePlus does a full 1 minute exposure time, so it's not a novelty feature of the G6. I'm not hating btw, but I just wanted to clarify that.
This is actually meant to be a deep dive for the average shooter. Most people shoot in auto, but that doesn't mean that auto modes can't get an in depth look. -Adam
You forgot how grainy the front camera is on the G6 compared to the S8 as well as how much the screen ghosts. If you like taking selfies or doing video calls then the G6 isn't for you. The wide angle camera on the G6 also distorts like a go-pro so anything straight near the edge of the picture will bend and basically ruin the picture. Sorry but the S8 for now.

LG g6 has any kind of screen flash or front flash? Led notification light present or other kind of notifier?
