Hey all, I'm not conversant with the rules of shotput, I'm assuming pushing off the rim of the circle with his ball/midfoot at the back like Ryan is doing here is legal?
As a former athlete who was a "spinner", it is near impossible to pivot on the ball of the left foot (right-handed putters) and not come into contact with the ring underneath the shoe. This is due to dorsiflexion of the foot, which is what happens naturally. This results in the drop of heel downward toward the ring. The only way to avoid contacting the ring would be to shift the foot towards the front of the ring so that the dorsiflexion wouldn't drop the foot onto the ring. Doing this, however, would result in reducing the effectiveness of the momentum build-up during the spin.
@@kurtfrancis4621 thanks so much for the explanation! Yeah I was thinking if the goat does it then it must be pretty normal or hard not to do!! Thanks again!
Ryan calls his new technique the Step Across, but he didn't actually step on this throw with his left foot, more like a shift across the back of the circle on this throw. Everyone else calls it the Crouser slide.
Dude y’all stole that video from Ryan Crouser’s channel, it’s not rare footage!
Darlan romani... faz dupla aí.

Oh it's totally illegal. But when you're the world record holder the judges let it "slide" ;)
