We need more videos like this. I bought this because I liked it! And, now - I wear the heck out of it. Who needs prestige and bragging rights? YOU LIKE IT, so wear it! Great video.
Personally, I can't wrap my head around this watch but that's what I love about this hobby. It's so incredibly subjective. Everyone has different things that they respond to and they each have their own unique reasons that are specific to them and them alone. Congrats on the purchase of a watch that works for you!
as an lhd owner and a chronograph lover who can't stand that rehaut, I think this choice of yours is insane. I respect that insanity though, and I worry I might love this thing too if I too wore one. This hobby is great :)
I was in Dubai at the todor spot and they had this at the display. I was mainly going to try a different watch the AD guide me to look at several new places they have including this one. My flight was literally in a couple of hours. I couldn't walk away without purchasing it. Its much more beautiful abd elegant in person. My third Tudor watch.
I feel the same way you do about wanting the watch sitting directly on my wrist. I have tried a few for my FXD and find the Nick Mankey Design straps are best, specifically the option for fixed lug watches. I now have three colors. Enjoy!
I second Nick Mankey Design straps! Most comfortable nato style elastic straps and one of the few that can allow the case back to sit directly on your wrist
Excellent Tudor offering. If I didn't already own too many, this would have been my next acquisition. I just received the hook strap you featured in your video. I think it may be the best one I've tried yet. I've tried many to include Erika's, Zuludiver, CNS, and Watch Steward. For the price, I don't think it can be beat. Enjoy the newest acquisition! Looks great!
Believe me, there are a ton of Mercedes f1 fans that wouldn't touch this because of the Red Bull affiliation, just like i wouldn't buy the IWC Petronas chrono for the opposite reasons. ( even though I love the color scheme of it) That said...VERY cool looking and I love the strap get arounds you came up with. Congrats great piece Evan. Wear in good health!
Hey thats pretty cool, was excited about this drop. Everything about it is unique. Plus tudor has so many "expected" watches. I like them branching out.
I have the Black Bay Chronograph with the B01 movement, and I completely agree with your findings. It feels tight and gritty to wind, and it's no different in the Breitling's either (Can't blame Tudor).
Did you notice the pushers were extremely difficult to activate? The ones I tried both Tudor and Brietling at the AD were all extremely stiff. I wonder if they break in?
@@Nefville I don't think I've ever used them to be honest. I rarely need to time anything, and with them being screw down pushers my fear is forgetting to screw them back down and then getting the watch wet.
Im a MM FXD owner and didnt like these Reb Bull FXDs when released. But was recently at my local Tudor boutique and got to try on the time only Red Bull fxd and was shocked how much I liked it in person. Now i can't get it out of my head. Lol
I enjoy living vicariously through you ,brother. If only I had the funds…how deep would I venture into that horological rabbit hole? All the same, beautiful timepiece and well thought out review as usual.
20 seconds in and I'm not surprised at all. It's your bad side. As perhaps, normally soft and weird... this is tough and defined. I like it. I like the new you.
The aesthetics of this watch, including the long length of exposed female Velcro strip and its purple coloring, don’t do a whole lot for me. However, I tried on the non-Chronograph version and really liked its slim silhouette and weigh. That said, I love your video presentation style, and I’m glad this watch makes you happy. That’s what this hobby is all about.
Odd question: did you start using Adobe Enhance Audio on this video? Maybe I’m hearing things, but your audio sounds a bit different from past videos, and it sounds very similar to audio processed by that new Adobe tool. Great review, by the way and love the channel!
Love the video, and all your videos 🙌🏼 curious though, how did the lume break at 10? Defect from factory or shock or something? I’ve always been a little wary of non-surrounded markers for that reason
Another fine video. I agree that the dial looks good, in part because they kept the color flat and resisted the temptation to color the subdials. And the thinness of what is still a thick watch is impressive. But you could have stopped with "I am not much of a chronograph guy -- I just don't use the timing function." This watch looks like the unwanted byproduct of a hot date between a Submariner and a Daytona. In what world do you need a bidirectional bezel on a chronograph? You can no longer pretend it's a dive watch because the bezel is bidirectional and you couldn't time a dive with the chrono because you can't push pushers underwater. Add in Red Bull ads, more text than a RUclips comment, and an unnecessary date window with its colors flipped? It's a mutant.
I like the carbon case, afraid that's where it ends for me. Enjoy your new piece, much more interesting than the LHD. Hadn't come across this model before either.
6:31 hmmm that's interesting. I too have this modified B01 movement in my chrono BB but it's pretty darn smooth. Maybe I just got lucky? It does make a toy RC type of sound when you wind it (or sorta like a ziplining sound), but it doesn't have a nasty raspiness or abrasiveness to the sound (although I know the sound is largely subjective per user). But the winding action overall feels buttery smooth on mine. For reference, I have a Rolex sub 124060 and also a 2023 SMP 300 (you just made me pull all three watches out to wind them *shakes fist at you*). Out of all of those three, the SMP300 is definitely the smoothest by far. The sub IS smoother than the BB chrono but it isnt a big difference.
quick question, how do you feel about this model now that the cycling version is out? Something always bothered me about the red bull, the color, the date window, I dunno. But the cycling came out and I immediately bought it. Couldn’t be happier. Super comfortable, perfect size (I have a your a terrific wrist), and love the color way. Particularly the date window I disliked on the Red Bull, I like on the cycling.
Enjoy it in good health. I'm still waiting for an AD to get back to me for the time only version. They got a black FXD in already and haven't gotten either ARBR in ever. You got me worried about the rotor and winding feel.
That watch looks amazing. I have liked it from the moment I laid my eyes on it. Granted it has several deal breakers for me but IT DOES LOOK AMAZING especially due to the color combo and symmetry of the dial.
Yup, from the moment I laid eyes on it, too. I don't mind the red bull text. Would I prefer it were omitted? Probably yes, but then again, like Evan said, it's hardly noticeable. The deal breaker for me is the case material...metal is a must. I love the striking looks of this Pelagos FXD Alinghi Red Bull Racing Chronograph, but I already have the Marine Nationale, so it's another reason to pass.
@@ultramagnus7842 But it is metal, aint it? Red Bull is not my fav company nor a usually consumed drink. but I do find myself rooting for Max Verstappen in F1 largely by method of elimination... @almeladze tbh I hated the snowflake hands and couldn't understand why a company would deploy such a design just for the sake of being different. For the longest time, I would look away from Tudor because of the ugly snowflake hands. But the brand had many things going in recent years with launch after launch of amazing new watches, and I kinda got sucked into the hype. And so I picked up two of what I consider their best offerings, the MN (of course), and the other was a Black Bay 58. I instantly became a huge fan of the brand. No mate, the case on the red bull chrono is carbon, and although a very dense type of carbon as Evan mentioned in his video, I still prefer my watches to be metal, especially when they're gonna burn a hole in my pocket.
Interesting choice I love the Red Bull colour scheme Just always had an issue with the Tudor Shovel hour hand over the chromo reading twice a day Loving my MN FXD as a true daily beater
It looks much cooler in person, and by 'in person' I mean in your nicely edited video, on your 7.5 inch wrist. This chrono reminds me of a forgotten piece of Tudor: the Monte Carlo
Did you sell the Pelagos before you bought the new one? Was it easy to sell, did you get a good price? How do you sell watches usually? I have 4 that I'm selling on Anibis, a Swiss site where I live, and its slow going. Whats your advice on where to sell, how to price, how far to lower your price in a negotiation. Thanks for the lovely video!!!
I sold it between the payment and the arrival of the FXD. Sold to a collector who's part of our local meetup. Local community is great for stuff like that.
I love how you start channeling Christopher Walker when talking about the color scheme: “The shade of blue. With black. And red. It’s so bizarre! These colors! Should not work together. But they do!”
Thanks again for the great photography and the review! And please, don't be apologetic or defensive, this hobby is silly and no 48mm Hublot or 34mm Calatrava is any different in the eye of a non-enthusiast. This is a great watch and you love it, that's all that matters. Now regarding your question, yes, you are missing a few automatic carbon chronographs at a lower price point (starting from lower to higher price: Edox, Oris, Tag Heuer, Breitling, Zenith). But that's not really relevant if you like this one, and while it's not my cup of tea, I totally understand wilder choices, spice is life! Somehow, I'm more drawn to the colors than the design, especially the design of the dial. The subdials are slightly too large, as is the text, and the location of the date, as you mentioned, is odd. The branding on the minute track is unnecessary and disrupts the chronograph's functionality. I realize you can still use the bezel to read from 50 to 10, but that's not its intended purpose. Given these points, I'd prefer the non-chronograph version.
$4000 and this is the level of QC. Tudor gets away with murder when it comes to QC and everyone just ignores it. How many years did it take them to fix their crappy GMT movement QC issues?
You're also in L.A.! The folks at the Century City boutique is great. I picked up a red bezel on a jubilee bracelet today...they happened to got it in yesterday.
I think a standard Pelagos chrono is likely but not with these colors. These are brand colors for Alinghi or Red Bull or both. I still don't what an Alinghi is.
The tudor pelagos chrono is probably nostalgic for you because this is one of the first dive watch chronos in a very long time that has some similarity to those from the 70's, they did not look like racing chronographs, they had a distinctive playful aesthetic to them. Unlike the black bay chrono that is suffering from an identity crisis
Watch is expensive for that strap and material of case. I had the regular Pleagos but it was just to thick and not comfortable. Sold it and bought a seamaster on a ruber.
Wow the 10 hour indice is messed up. It looks like one corner of it got smashed (!?) Now I'm starting at it for the rest of the video. WTF. Can you have that fixed on warranty?
Neck beards!!! Bwahahaha! P.S. do you like the Tudor AD you referenced? I’m hot for this watch or the US Navy FXD. And I live in LA. Thanks for the video. Very high laugh per minute ratio going on here as always.
Great review! I want one as a beater watch. I like the design and the Redbull branding. My favorite design element is the lumed bezel. To me, the price makes sense because it isn't a "premium" chronograph movement inside.
Excellent pick up, I love it (the 3 hand more, but both are great). Seriously I didn't see the rehaut text at first either, but it took me years to realize Rollies had text there as well... So yeah.
I like how it looks. I'd prefer if there were no mention of Red Bull anywhere but the case back, but i generally don't like watches with gimmicky partnerships.
it's a handsome watch for sure! I'm still not sold on carbon fiber cases personally but interested to hear about how this wears longer term. Carbon seems like it has similar downsides to ceramic (problematic to refinish) without the scratch resistance, and the lightness isn't really something I'm looking for in a watch.
they are SHIT cases bro , people just jump on band wagon materials , you CANNOT re finish or remove scratches from carbon fiber . literal fact . CF has been in use on vehicles for decades you would think they would take notes from the industry that has been using the material the longest .its meant to be heat resistant , rigid and as light as the metal used on cars . thats it . nothing about that calls too yeah wear it on your wrist and bang it up all day and the term RIGID for something WORN on YOUR WRIST should never go together lol
You’ll sell it within a year I reckon Having said that it is excellent value for money re quality and expense cf other brands for sure. But the logo/writing/colour combo/scratchy winding/cheap strap…..not for me I hope you enjoy it

I'm in two minds between same of yours or ENDURANCE from breitling
I think that's a stunner. I'm loving the colours and design
A very cool looking watch but it’s a billboard for Red Bull I can’t get past that.
Wow the 10 hour indice is messed up. It looks like one corner of it got smashed (!?) Now I'm starting at it for the rest of the video. WTF. Can you have that fixed on warranty?
Great stuff. I will probably buy the 3 hand version, which looks better than the black version just released.
Is it lighter than titanium?
The 3 hand only carbon version is slightly lighter (4-5 grams) compared to the MN version.
It has fixed lunch though, right? I just don’t get it… Your choice is NATO strap or NATO strap.
I'm hoping Nomos will one day release a chronograph.
I think it'll happen.
Nice one, I think it’s a fab choice.
Fantastic pick! I can't cause no bracelet.
The Tudor - Breitling B01 Chronograph movement feels like winding up a Tinker Toy with the key.....
Wouldn’t “Aquatic Children” be a great name for a band?
More watch pics while wearing Canadian Tuxedos please.
Those hosers know how to dress, eh?
I remember when this watch first came out and a lot of watch YTers hated it and I just love how you're like "nah this shit is awesome" lol
I believe the movement is from Breitling, not an in-house movement.
Personal question... Would feel comfortable wearing this with a suit? 🤔
You’ll sell it within a year I reckon
Having said that it is excellent value for money re quality and expense cf other brands for sure.
But the logo/writing/colour combo/scratchy winding/cheap strap…..not for me
I hope you enjoy it
Ouch, looks like something happened to the indicie at :50.
Nice review! This is the 1 Pelagos FXD that I think I'd actually buy and wear. :)
Love this watch. Agree with pretty much everything you said in this video.
Great looking watch....
Great video
What Great review thanks or the feedback!!
Very cool piece indeed. Congrats on the NWA!
It’s cool, man!
Cool watch that's pretty unique and has a lot of character.
Also looks like if they did that movement in the 39 case the date would align with the markers better.
