A while back I bought a commercial effect (and spent a tidy sum!) because it ends up with a reveal of a blank deck as a kicker. This effect accomplishes the same thing, without having to ditch a random chosen card. This is definitely smoother and cleaner, and just what I am looking for! Thank you for presenting it, and the easy to follow instruction!
I’m not sure why, but I found your presentation and tutorial so easy to follow, so much better than some others out there. Thank you for a great trick. 👏👏
Nice, but I wouldn't mention "the tenth position". That makes it seem like that number is important, rather than it being the apparently random number of cards they pulled out. I like the kicker with the blank cards.
It's really interesting how versatile many of these tricks are. For example, this could easily be turned into a mindreading trick. It's really just one simple move, and you can make up all kinds of other lies and trickery around it.
I love this trick, but I think that (for me), it would be better to have the card in my deck face up, but in their deck, keep it face down. Then when they see your face up card, they could flip over their card to see the reveal. It seems it would add just a little more suspense to the performance. But I'm definitely going to do this one! Thanks for sharing!
Hey Steve, hope all is going great. 👍 Thanks for sharing this one. I will be using it soon. I don't trust myself to see how many cards the spectator put down on the table, lol. The spectator might deal down 4 cards the first time and grab 3 cards the 2nd time, then 3 more the last time and I might miscount them, and think he put 8 or 9 cards down on the table. Then if I got confused, I would ask him to put 1 or 2 more down. I think Im going to ask them to pick a number between 1 and 10, this way I might have to only ask him 3x to pick a number. Also, I'm thinking of using a higher number like 23. If he puts 16 cards down after 2x, I woukd ask a 3rd x, and if he says 7, all is good, but anything less, i gotta ask again. If he goes past 23 cards and has 27 cards on table, I could ask him to remove any 4 cards of the last 10 cards dealt or ask him to think of a number and to tell me, then remove that many cards. If it is different than 4, say he says, 7, then I need to tell him to remove 3 cards. I could tell him after each time to remove a small number, so he doesn't catch on to my addition of 23 cards. I appreciate you for your professional support ❤️. Best wishes.
I think the trick is much better without the blank cards. The reason being, when they see all the other cards are blank, they know you forced the jack of diamonds, whereas without the blanks, it seems like you just guessed correctly.
For any magicians watching, you could use a cull to get the card to the top, that way the 'order' remains the same as what the spectator did. In their eyes you just spread the deck. If you're feeling ambitious, you could cop or palm the card, hand the deck to shuffle and replace on top once the cards are handed back. To avoid too many, if your saying a few, when you get to lets say 2 away you could say, 'and just take a couple more'. It primes them to pick two. If there's one, just say - 'tell you what, we'll just add one more, why not?'. If there's three, then 'a few' and just cross your fingers. If you want to do this blindfolded, RS some cards on top. Same as before and get them to take 'a few' three times - you're going to end up with roughly 8-13 cards. Get them to deal as you're still turned around. Unless you're 'dealing' with someone who's good with cards, or in a noisy environment, you'll be able to hear how many cards they deal. Instruct them the same as before, and now you know how many cards are needed, and spread the correct RS accordingly.
Mega cool great to watch there jaws drop. But having a complete blank deck is very useful as is full 52 card gaff decks of double faces double backs etc excellent posted by your good self tutorial
Alternative ending: Have them place 14 cards on top. Then have them look at the forced card and put it on the top of the deck and cover it with the other cards. Then ask them what card is. Then spell out the "Jack of diamonds" as you turn over a card for each letter so they end on the card that can be face down on both piles and turn them over together for the reveal.
Here’s an alternative if they deal and have 11 or 12 cards. When you open your deck, make up a story for adding one or two jokers to the top of your deck.
Instead of flipping the cut for the force, couldn’t you just cull it on the spread? That way you don’t flip the deck. I admit this is a detail that only a card mechanic would notice and your way requires less skill. But it’s the first thing I noticed. I really like the blank deck portion. It’s a nice touch.
Advice, if you wanna do it a bit more decieving: when looking foir that card after thier shuffle, dont go trough all deck if the card isnt in the beggining. That looks weird, Just show fast open first like spread, maybe 20 cards depending how big hands you have and how much cards do go into your spread. If you dont see it you shufflke few timews and show again there, now its different. When you do sewe it, you do a deck cut (Id rather use a cull, but bergginers can do as showed, this will fool ppl bo doubt), and when you do this you say okay, you shuffle for one last time (thats if you saw they are shuffling cards on the table by doing that "cascade" shuffle. It is VERY čilely that the chosen card will stay on top after that shuffle, you just follow when they split on which half it is and which one goes on top when shuffling. If that happens, you are golden. If it doesent happen, you know for a fact that card will be on the very top, maybe few cards down. Then you can show one last time with "there, now its again on the completely new sequence". But show it while go fast and "showing" the spread of the bottom cards. Since you knoiw by looking that last shuffle where the card is, you can easily eastimate how many cards are put on top (if any), you can easily cull it really fast, or ecen do some shifts or turn over pass etc when you are giving them to start dealing. PS. Id never alloud that "get rid of two" that really looks weird in the end. You can easily manage them to put ten by saying to them to pick just one or two cards on the table, and if you come to nine you give them one last time to pick. But, if I would perform this, Id give them really free offer to stop where they want. And I would put card in other deck at 12 position, maybe 14th. So, they wouldnt notice in the end, if they stop at putting lčets say 15 cards on the table, and you have 12, Id take those fifteen cards and simply cop the needed number. While "counting" how many they put (and reversing the order in the process ofc). You can easily cop few cards hold them in cop and count the cards, than go south. In the end, ple4ase dont take that as "its a bad trick, Ill make it better", please, thats not my intention, I just love to add things or take things, change to use more suitable sleight etc. This is just an offer to your audience, if someone finds something interesting, or even better, if someone gets an idea of their own.
well if you need some ideas for mind blowing forces dani daoritz has a new 12 part project being released that's entirely about forces and all of his courses are fantastic
I shall return. At the moment, I just don't know how you did it. I'll think about it overnight and comment if I figure it out before watching the reveal.
Blank deck utilisation is great 🎉 . Nice tutorial
Love from India
Great little effect, Steven!

What a great effect to fool every magician on th e planet with. Great video, Steve. Glad to see you back.

Cool trick mate very good love the end kicker showing blank deck👏🏻👍🏻

I like that a lot!
Really great trick sir ..
Could always leave 12, and just double undercut 2 from bottom
AWESOME!
You don't even have to bring to their attention to the tenth position just say you knew they would have the jack of diamonds
Any suggest for the force part bro? The force part is really suspicious if dealing with the smart spectator
Nice... u could do a colour also...

If you new in advance someones name on a low number card write eg Happy birthday Brian I new you would choose then perform as above first method
Fantastic idea!
LOL cool trick !!
A great trick 😊👏😊👏😊
Liked it

I shall return. At the moment, I just don't know how you did it. I'll think about it overnight and comment if I figure it out before watching the reveal.
The blank deck diminishes the effect I think because that makes clear to everybody you forced the jack of diamonds.
A pretty decent trick, I'll try it... (and likely fail spectacularly)
You got this 💪🏽
I tried this truck and it didn't work.
But then I clicked like and subscribed and then when I tried the trick again it worked.
Haha thank you!
👍
❤
That's not self working. Nice effect though.
I love card tricks, but this is kind of 20th, "best card trick" in a two days I have seen. No matter, just saying.
