    Just buy a smaller pump and you won’t have to destroy the aesthetic of the natural clay fountain and pebbles by sticking a stark white plastic PVC elbow on top. My small pump has a tiny sliding switch on the side to decrease the rate of flow.

    • @kantwinnada
      @kantwinnada 3 года назад +1

      The pump should have an adjustable flow. If not could just use stones on the top.

    • @choctaw5050
      @choctaw5050 3 года назад +3

      Or use some decor on top to match...good grief...

    • @mykneeshurt8393
      @mykneeshurt8393 3 года назад +1

      paint or decorate the PVC elbow... that is what I would do, if it was my only option. Or, use a coffee mug with holes drilled in it. might look fun.

    • @cheekypiper512

      Should have put the stones in last.

      Should paint the pvc. Better aesthetic.

    I love this fountain. It’s so clever yet not overly complicated to create. If I make one I would break a terra cotta pot and find a piece that is large enough to make the water flow that direction. Then I’d glue it to the top saucer instead of the pipe. I absolutely LOVE this fountain Well done!

    What a fantastic clever inspirational video you've made! I have a stockpile of clay pots I've collected from yard sales, & so on over the years. Mine of course will be a little different because I have different pots but you really gave me a fantastic start. I love that you showed how to carve small areas in clay pots without the use of a power type tool. That was so nifty to learn. Thank you, thank you so much! You rock :)

    I would drill bigger notches to keep the saucers from overflowing, and maybe attach some spouts to direct the flow of water, then arrange the pots before adding in the pebbles. This would be an amazing bird bath.

    PVC pipe really tops it off with the looks, its amazing! We really need more PVC piping as staples of design and decor for our greatest fountains in Europe.

    you probably wouldn't need any kind of PVC pipe if you just tilted the saucers a little and put a little stone in them creating a bit of a "trench" so to speak. and by tilting all of them it would appear as if it was meant to be that way. Definitely saving this idea so that I can put it with my water feature this summer!

    If you use an adjustable pump you can turn the flow down a little and you won’t have to stick that elbow in there. I have made one of these before.. Nice fountain.

      This is a simple 12v water pump available in the market. The pump i used has a high pressure. I recommend u to use small pump which should be ~ 12V , 5W , 100 lit/h.

    I'd use a fat flexi straw pushed into the pvc (that's what I use instead of tubing) they come in many colors. Flex in the direction you want. Or even touch with hot glue gun to warm enough to make your angle ...
    Put a few small stones in the saucers ... set a flatter one on them slightly angled over the PVC pipe to direct your water. Sorry but I too agree the bright white takes away from an overall awesome design.
    Really cute, fast fountain!

    very nice! I did a similar thing with just a wide saucer, a slightly narrower pot and a wide shallow dish, all terra cotta. They are heavy enough that I just stacked them and use a solar fountain that floats in the bath. To clean I simply sweep out the water and replace.

    Great idea the only problem is that the base is not deep enough for me in terms of water retention but that is easily fixable

    • @CasuallyObservant
      @CasuallyObservant 3 года назад

      Set the whole thing on a large, deep pot that is full of water and put the pump in the bottom of the deep pot. The original bottom pan should then have drainage holes added in the center to drain its water back into the big deep pot. The deep pot will be able to hold many gallons of water, and give you weeks of service before needing a refill. Also, consider a solar pump that way you are not tethered to a location near an electric outlet nor a visible cord that is a trip hazard.

      Why not paint everything different colors with non toxic outdoor paint. It would give a nice focal point in a garden and make a great bird bath. I think hummingbirds would like red included. Maybe paint the pots and saucers white and stencil vines and flowers. It would have another completely different look.

    OMGosh! Can't anyone just enjoy it without having to criticize these days? I agree the PVC pipe elbow could be painted a terra cotta color to match, but just because he didn't show that, doesn't mean one can't incorporate that if they want--but lose the whining and b#tching about it, and making yourself out to be so much more clever. You're not. He didn't HAVE to make the video...and you didn't have to watch it.
    What a bunch of ingrates! As my folks used to say: "If you can't say anything nice, ... don't say anything at all."

    Love it. Just wondered about the bubbles. And a thought one might have a small overturned terracotta pot with an opening in the side you want the water to flow out of with a rock to slow the water. Plug the opening in the bottom of the overturned pot (now on the top). Set up a mossy plant in another pot on that last pot at the top. All that said. Yours looks great. good job.

    I actually think I can make this. I will use rocks and pebbles to direct flow, but yours is great

      Use smaller water pump....water overflows to much his was to big for his project & u won't need to redirect water due to low flow.

    Nice fountain with common garden items and small effort.
    *For safety sake glue three small rocks to the bottom lip of your clay pot holding the pump to limit abrasion of the cord.*
    But your fountain could be so much more beautiful with only minor tweaks. The pump is overpowering the fountain.
    - Turn down flow adjustment for a slow trickle instead of a high flow waterfall.
    - Also if you leave a short nub of pipe in the top dish you can adapt a fountain top with decorative flow like a clear ball. With slow flow and decorative water outlet on top you no longer need the White PVC.
    Now I want to go out and make one, but I have so many other things to do.

    Not bad, but black ABS pipe would look better. Both kinds come in smaller diameter sizes

    Make a notch in the rim of the first pot to accommodate the pump cord. No need to epoxy the pvc to the saucer. For a less overwhelming flow use a smaller pump, adjust the pump’s flow controller or use a smaller diameter pvc or plastic tubing . The PVC elbow kinda ruins the lovely look of the pottery and isn’t really necessary. It’s nice to see the water just bubble up out of its opening. Also, notches are easy to make with a Dremal fitted with a grinder/sander bit.
