The original was heavily layered in the studio, which is why you hear a lot of notes you can't grab with one guitar. Nik said he had a difficult time figuring how he would play it live, so he played it several different ways, depending on how he felt, and if he had another guitarist or other instrument grabbing some of those key notes. Live at Hammersmith is probably the best video to catch how he did it with a full band.
The funny chord alternative: 1st finger on 6th fret of top E string (Bb), RING finger on 8th fret of B string (G), pinky on 9th of G (E), middle finger on 8th of D (Bb). Slide up to it only with middle and ring fingers - it's a challenge to begin with, but is achievable! Great vid.
@@tonedr Hey TD, remember me? I did a Peg cover using your chord tutorial...gonna do one for this as well! Appreciate your help as always...hope you are well Brother!
Hey TD....hop over to my channel, I used some of your chords in my latest release....thanks as always.....will try this comment with link but I suspect links are taken down by YT? (my first comment sounded boastful...HA). Hope all is well Brother!
Fantastic thanks for the upload. I always wonder in what key this song actually is....F#m, C#m, E are all in this song.....a very cleverly crafted song.
See my analysis above. My summary is that changes keys twice, from D minor over B minor to A major and back. But I'm no expert music theorist, so I'm happy to be challenged!
The song doesn't look like it's in the key of C. The chords in the chorus/intro are Fmaj7 Bb Gm C (x3) then Am Dm These are chords in the key of F major or D minor. In my view the chorus comes to "rest" on the final chord Dm, so the key is D minor for me. The chorus transitions into the verse via an E power chord and then lingers about on Bm to end on a C-G. From the notes he sings we can assume this part is in the key of B minor. The last G is then taken forward in the second part of the verse into this chord progression G F#m C#m E Bm Although these chords still fit in the key of B (harmonic) minor, the Bm doesn't have a resting function but leads into the Asus4/D chord where everything comes to rest. So that second part has more a feeling of A major. And that's in its turn the dominant of Dm, so that we can go back to the chorus. It's quite an intricate piece of songwriting, for what back in the day was "just a popular hit single". Also, compared to what we get today, the lyrics are Shakespearean. Happy to be corrected but my summary is that it switches from D minor, over B minor to A and back.
very good, but I hate & love that chord because it is difficult, actually you must play that stupid chord because it makes it sound exactly like the song.
