- Everything you need to know about the history of Tesla, including Elon Musk's vision for the future of the iconic electric car company.
This extremely fast-paced animation shows why the company was formed, its successes and struggles, and how Tesla was able to pass Ford in market value just 7 years after the company's IPO.
Then, we outline the ambitious vision and strategy for the company going forward, and what Elon Musk hopes to achieve with new models (semi trucks, transit vehicles, etc.), multiple battery gigafactories, AI, and other bold plans.

I mean if you loan almost anyone half a billion they can make a successful company lol
@@matthewgreene4050 yeah then Ford and GM would have been succeeded
Tesla achieved their goal from where I'm standing. I live in Central FL. I have a model 3 and a house both powered by Tesla solar panels. This all happens as I see Elon launches his roaster to space on the Falcon Heavy in my backyard. I feel like I'm living in the future....
holy shit.
that is so cool!

Have to say, I've followed Tesla for 2 years daily and I love the fact that you guys distilled a lot of the information that is all over the place into one nice video. Well written and animated!
Hydrogen Electric Fuel Cell is actually better than battery electric: use solar to split water into O2 and H2 with this new (cheap) material: www.uh.edu/news-events/stories/2017/April/05152017Ren-Water-Catalyst.php
And here's another article from 2017 (again, this is not front page news because of BIG oil/gas companies) - ceramics.org/ceramic-tech-today/can-hydrogen-fuel-our-future-with-this-ceramic-membrane-maybe
The above article shows a picture: hydrogen production efficiency = 41% using methane or similar gas. 41% is better than Battery Electric Vehicles for "Well to Wheel" efficiency. NOTE: the water electrolysis does NOT take into account the first article I referenced above! So, water electrolysis clearly is the winner here.
So imagine using that ceramic with the H2 from the water splitter in the first article.
Note: we do NOT want to use Natural Gas or any other Gas - those will produce lots of Carbon emissions and other noxious gasses! Water is the best way to go.
The real question is what about Christ

Tesla will achieve their goals. Why? Because the alternative is just soooo.... bad for the world and the future. Tesla cannot be allowed to fail.
Havent thought about it that way, you make a really good point :)

@@benl8962: In the real world, there will be a LOT of companies with far more quality and experience and funding than Tesla making BEV's. Not to mention how good HEV's have gotten.
Vehicle electrification will proceed as the economics needed. Tesla isn't needed.
@@rogergeyer9851 tesla is the company that made electric cars attractive. Other companies are now catching up, its true they have more experience making cars but tesla has a vision for the future and thats what the other companies are missing. Thats why tesla is necessary
This is one of the most amazing stories of human history.
Huh?
Leeching subsidies isn't an amazing story.
@goodfella21f For some it's not ok o leech, but for others it is?
Double standard taken to a new level.
@goodfella21f I don't think we quite understand each other.
I am against subsidies.
@goodfella21f Yes. Just look at the EU CAP and its effects. Examine France in particular.
No one should be forced to pay for government programmes, especially those which are extremely ineffective.
Taxation without representation is theft.
5:26 I love that random, out of place, fictional car in space animation you did. Oh wait, it's none of that.
I bought a Model 3 this month and its the best car experience I've ever had.
I don't get why GM destroyed the cars instead of selling it for a lower price 🤔
I believe it had something to do with the ongoing costs of having to support those models (parts, etc.) over a long time period, like the next 15-20 years.
That said, the documentary "Who Killed the Electric Car?" touches on these events, and probably offers a more interesting (and more dubious) explanation.
GM never sold one. All of them were leased property of GM. I believe the oil companies had something to do with it.
The documentary "Who Killed the Electric Car?" tells an interesting story. What they don't say is that one copy is known to still exist, and it's not in the hands of GM.
But we should be concentrating on Hydrogen Electric anyways. It can be used to power anything - cars, homes, factories, etc. I believe the reason we aren't, is because of Big Oil and The Electric Companies. Hydrogen can be taken from water via electrolysis using solar cells for the electricity - don't believe the naysayers that it's "too inefficient" to get hydrogen from water - that's just what the gas/oil companies want you to believe. In fact, it's been in use for almost a decade now, in Norway. They call it "The Hydrogen Highway" you can see an article here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HyNor or do a search. As you can see, Oslo still has two on-site electrolysis fuel stations in operation today. In fact they have expanded the number of fuel stations and the stations are no longer in need of government subsidies - a new company bought the existing stations.
The funny thing about fuel cell tech is that the only emission is *pure* H2O (yes, water) which is exactly where the Hydrogen came from in the first place. Sounds kinda like a perpetual motion machine - but no one is going to have the hydrogen divided from the oxygen in their cars, so, it's not actually a perpetual motion machine. But, obviously it can be done on land where there is more room for such equipment.
UPDATE 3/15/19 : Use solar to split water into O2 and H2 with this new (cheap) material: www.uh.edu/news-events/stories/2017/April/05152017Ren-Water-Catalyst.php

Right? Even if it isnt profitable it would be better than just destroying them
the big money is made by maintenance and gasoline, evs contribute very little in that case, so the bigger guys forced GM to cut that idea of electric cars.

I began following SpaceX since it's Falcon 1 - launch 2 - 21 March 2007, while recovering from a heart operation. It gave me hope, made me a futurist, and the modern internet access only expanded my horizons.
This weekend my son in law rented a Model X (the first Tesla I've seen Live) I had 2 rides in it... I'm moving house and had twisted my back, 10+ minute ride in the back seat was all it took to ease the pain. The seat cushions are made for people. and the heating helped. If I could afford to I would buy the seats for a living room sofa...
What to do when you cant get a job:
-Normal people: go to college and than keep trying get a job.
-Elon Musk: start a space company
.
More like : Just be smart, invest in something futureproof with someone else's money. Elon had like 4-5 companies before space X.

Every other major car company is now releasing electric based vehicles, with even some related tech, such as hydrogen fuel cells, making large leaps over the last decade; Tesla has already achieved the goal Elon Musk set out for it.
We're not quite there yet. Tesla is still the virtually undisputed champion in the EV market, and most of the competition would drop their electric vehicles in a heartbeat if Tesla died. Elon's goal won't be complete until others are launching truly competitive electric vehicles. As it is now, half way through 2019, the rest of the world is barely at the level Tesla was at with the 2012 Model S. A lot of the recent EV releases look like legacy auto making a show of competition, while praying that Tesla fails. None of their vehicles are anywhere near technical parity with what Tesla's making, and that's going to be a problem for everyone in the long term.
@@icyknightmare4592 I think now there's good competition

If tesla achived their goal, pollution will decrease by 60%
And 40% of all power will come for the sun

It's a very good video resource about the Tesla journey. Expected to watch more videos about Elon Musk.
Thanks for the history lesson. It didn't mention anything about the build-out of Telsa SuperChargers, a key effort that makes EV a viable option for commuters.

Hmmm what to do when you drive to work. I guess it could be an emergency system, like Texas winter a few years ago.
I have the descendant to the EV1, the Volt. The reason they killed of the EV1 was that they require very little maintenance. I have only had two oil changes in 90,000 miles...that's it except for tire rotations and new tires. The Volt is amazing and so reliable. Not a single squeak or problem in 90,000 miles.
Yes they will achieve their ambitious goals for the future, and more
This in not fabricated at all... I can’t believe the amount of haters out there. Whenever I would drive through Arizona in a Tesla the hate i got. Most the time it was just drivers not letting me in through traffic. I have other vehicles so I know it wasn’t normal.
Then when I would start getting closer into cities people would try and race me aggressively.
Its started escalating to trying to run me off the road and even pulling in front of me with their diesel pickup trucks and smoking me out.
So many hateful people.
Even though its an American company!
I liked only because I want this video to get more popular so that more people are likely to buy the car
fun video over one of the best companies in the world. Go Tesla!
Tesla is now firmly established and it's a sigh of relief.
Great video, I can only say my Tesla is a revolutionary vehicle and I'll be only buying EV going forwards. I'm also more than interested in the new solar tiles and installing power walls to go fully home sustainable in the coming years too.
