  • Tesla’s stock has more than tripled since the start of the year, giving it a market capitalization larger than many behemoths of American industry. But its rise wasn’t necessarily driven by fundamentals. WSJ explains. Illustration: Jacob Reynolds/WSJ

This video doesn't actually capture the reason the company became so valuable. It's because they don't just make cars. They make a vertically intergraded energy and transportation solution. Yes, the car is where they got started but each one of their business units will dominate their respective segments. They can become the most profitable car company, solar panel and/or roofing company (solar tiles), ride sharing company (Fleet of FSD), utility (solar panel leasing & Virtual Power Plant tech via their Autobidder software), logistic company (automated trucking), and more. Each one of these segments is 100 to 300 billion in market cap potential. This video only said one thing: it sold 1/25th of the number of cars Toyota sold. Which is a ludicrous comparison. There are a ton more reasons why this company is going to continue to dominate that I won't get into right now.

@@dvoglavaazdaja Not everyone is gonna switch to EV instantly, it'll be a transition period, by that time there will be lots of EVs produced by small and major companies, some might not be as good as Tesla, but they have a brand name (VW, Toyota etc), they have the factories that they can convert, they have more resources than Tesla. They will eventually catch up to Tesla but definitely not in an instant maybe a decade or more (?). Then there are Tesla's competitors who makes EVs right now, some doesn't have the same tech, some are worse, some are cheaper, even as of now, Tesla doesn't hold a majority of the EV market, different source have different numbers ranging from 20% to 35%. Even if Tesla owns more than 70% of the market, within 5 years, they can't generate as much earnings to justify the stock price. Putting EVs aside, they have their AI and battery which has growth potential. Even acknowledging that, the PE, PEG, EPS, mkt cap are too high for Tesla. Tesla's current share price is a prediction that Tesla would be very successful in 5-10 years time, owning majority of EV, with successful tech and at the top of the competition, very large demand for EVs, this might be likely ofc, so that justify TSLA being around 1500-1800 at most within 5 years. That definitely doesn't justify it being more than 3-5k in 3-5years at all

Tesla also designs it’s own computer chips (like Apple) and has it’s own operating system (like Apple) that offers its own App Store in car (like Apple, except you can’t play games in car with Apples CarPlay. Tesla’s can watch Netflix and other streaming services in car...unlike Apple). Dojo is a supercomputing A.I. System that trains Tesla’s other systems created by Tesla’s own software developers in house (Apples phones don’t train each other). Auto Bidder manages the distribution of vast amounts of energy, providing Tesla with the power to grow in the energy sector written by Tesla software developers in house (Apple does not do this).
SpaceX and Tesla are constantly helping each other solve problems and provide Space engineering talent to Tesla when Elon requires different thinkers to help solve a problem (These things are never taken into account but should be...I don’t believe Apple has space engineering talent to help solve issues they run into). Elon is a programmer and Engineer with a degree in Physics. Tim Cook is a CEO in every sense of the word. Both companies ARE comparable...but you’re right they’re not on the same level.

The main reason TSLA has skyrocketed is because of what it demonstrated in shanghai. It turned a mud field into a production line in under a year. This proved that Tesla could scale fast and cheap. This is super important because obviously it proves growth is going to happen really quickly but also it shows that the competition is out of time. Many car companies are going to go bankrupt because they will not be able to develop competitive products in time. Tesla will simply push them out of the market before the competition has a chance to catch up.

First, Tesla has consistently the highest owner satifcation of any car company in the world. Consistently. You clearly have never owned a Tesla. "Cars will never be all electric." Uhm... sure. In the same way that horses will never go away. Internal combustion engine cars will be banned, made illegal, within 15-25 years in almost of the world. Electric cars will be cheaper (are almost cheaper now) in every way to ICE cars. There will be more horses left than internal combustion cars in the world soon.

And now All Car Makers are delaying all their plans by 5 more years to 2024 and beyond because of Corona. VW is now saying they want to be No.2 in electric car and stay behind Tesla because they cant catch up!*
*Here is the thing, Tesla is not siting still, because of a virus pandemic. They are continuing to Grow 40-50% Every Year in Production and Sales and Continue to improve their Cars, Software and Batteries.* To Beat Tesla in Electric cars sales, you need a huge Battery Production factory, which other cars makers mostly have not announced. Other Car Makers are saying, Oh we will just take Batteries from LG Chem and CATL, but those guys definitely don't have enough Batteries for all these car makers At All. Tesla has it's own huge Battery Giga Factory and Continues to build more of them! They will start to make their Special Super Batteries to be revealed at 22 September 2020, on Battery Day.
