    Whether you liked Barbara or hated her, she was the first female news broadcaster in history. She broke through the male bastion. For that, I give her credit. She's a tough, opinionated woman who had guts.

      Lynnie: my mother was the first female news broadcaster on the CBS local Los Angels she only did it three months because she was pregnant with my brother in 1960 and in those days you could get fired for being pregnant! BW was the first on national/international TV news

    RIP Barbara, my childhood is starting to leave faster and faster and it's getting real getting older! She was the BEST! I remember watching her in the background while eating dinner and my mom talking or cleaning while she was interviewing someone important at the time... what a time to be alive!

    I fell asleep many nights hearing Barbara Walters voice, down the hall on the TV at my grandma's house. ♥️ Then, I got to enjoy her specials as a young adult. What an amazing career!

    When Oprah started calling out all the journalists names like bingo number, I was waiting for her to yell 'Bingo!' or 'everybody is getting a car!' Barbara was so touched. This was a great way of thanking her for what she did for women on television. Whether some like or not her career path, she did a lot of very ground breaking things for women and television.

    I remember watching this when it first aired and now after her passing, going back and watching this it hits differently. Simply saying she's an icon or a legend isn't enough to describe what Barbara meant to lots of women, myself included. May her legacy forever live on throughout all the women in television.       Barbara for all women in journalism and Connie Chung, the first Asian-Chinese female Journalist on the air. Now there are a number of Asian female journalists on the air. Love these two famous female journalists.

      They sure did. What I also noticed was the difference in how Barbara and Connie hugged, versus most of the others: they embraced and held it. Connie had an immense respect for Barbara and I think it's safe to say the feeling was mutual.

      Yes. I never saw this finale but saw a clip of it when they announced her passing and wanted to watch. What a retirement sendoff. She lived a wonderful life and did exactly what she loved doing. Even if we don't find fame or fortune, we should all do the same. Getting to the end of your life knowing you went for it must be a very satisfying way to go out.

    Rest in peace Barbara and Bill Geddy. I missed this show when it was aired and wondered for years why she was no longer making appearances. Thank you for airing it here,what a legacy she has left us.❤️❤️👍
