    This is now the seminal interview of the great Uli Steck; The one that will last, for history. We cannot know what remains extant, but for this we can say, it is true masterpiece. Hervè Barmasse was brilliant, just brilliant in his questioning. As well, Scarpa must be shown appreciation for its support.

    15:00, I so wish he would have gotten that part right. Ueli was a true athlete, and could have done more with the ultra marathons and other things as he got older. MIss you, Ueli.

    Great questions by Hervé Barmasse and brilliant answers by Ueli Steck. After this interview you wanna reach out and do something challenging yourself. And I like Ueli's last answer and message why he is doing it: "do it for yourself!"

    This interview is really inspiring for those who aspire..and they will get answers to many such questions that they may face in their journeys.. after all efforts for years you may be at that place when u may think u hv done it,achieved it,but then u realize thereis no effectof it, nothing will be changed in the world even if u hv Climbed it... The Golden Age of Mountaineering may has gone,but in today's modern, consumeristic saturated society we have a lot to understand realize by this practice of Mountaineering, keeping it alive.
    Let the nature be the referee here,

    I respect Ueli for many of his great achievements, he is a true legend. Sadly, it was just an unforgivable shortcoming of his not to be able to provide any proof of one of the greatest mountaineering deeds ever (Annapurna south face solo). If you plan everything meticulously for years and then end up having zero pictures on the summit, no phone call, no GPS track and don't leave anything behind on the summit, that's very unprofessional and also a bit dumb. This was also not the first time he claimed stuff he could not prove. Did not learn this lesson unfortunately.

      He could have left something on the summit under a stone, like a piece of his coat or something like that.

    At 12:14 what his weight? Steck is referring to his weight.This is of interest, right! In kilograms, please. Not in fuckin' stones or pounds. OK! Bangkok-Johnny www.pattayatoday.net

    " I believe in nature. It is my god" Most stupid answer ever.
    There is no reason to "believe" in nature, because nature is there, quite obvious.
    But who, created nature, the elements, the laws of physics?
    I think , if Steck would have had a connection to god, he might still be around today...

    • @rzwerlein
      @rzwerlein 7 лет назад +9

      misanthrop1958 your reply tops any stupid answer he made. People are allowed to believe what they want and her was being respectful of people who believe in religion but saying that. There's no proof in God and there are so many religions that it's hard to believe. God would never punish and kill him as you imply, he is simply like all of us and made a mistake and in the high stakes of climbing solo he paid the price..... He believes in nature and that wonderment leads one to believe that there is a higher power but not the god that's concocted by man's ego that you obviously believe in....

      the only reason you believe in whatever god you believe in is because you were raised in that culture... if you would ve been born in India, you d believe blindly in another god... so stfu you brainwashed trash

      Holy shit. This is so stupid. So he was able to solo South face of annapurna with no God, and other crazy dangerous solo climbs, but God punished him just one time up at Nuptse? What about all the devout climbers who died? Where was God for them?
      Keep your shit to yourself, troll.
