    Thanks Ueli for showing us mere humans what can be done, I just wonder how you would of approached some other ones like the K2, the Ogre , and the Horseshoe on Everest. Now you are climbing higher than the highest eagle at the crag in Valhalla

      Dan Maltby Exactly! And interesting u mentioned "The Horseshoe" because some people think he was actually preparing for that route when he died.

    How is there no footage of the climb itself. it's like one of the most impressive achievements and there's no footage of it?

      Because he never reached the summit. All we had was his word and conveniently zero evidence to support the claim.

      @@rocnoir4233 did he have a reason to lie? was he a liar before? i mean yea, theres no proof but he was not the guy that would lie about such things and also he had the experience and form to climb it.

    • @rocnoir4233
      @rocnoir4233 3 года назад

      @@TheSkibba Of course he did. He was at the mercy of the media and involved in promoting climbing products. Failure isn't a good look. He had already been called out for suspicions regarding his Shishapangma ascent by the time these allegations were made. The simple fact is that he conveniently lost or did not have any evidence whatsoever. english.elpais.com/usa/2021-04-09/mountaineering-expert-rodolphe-popier-i-think-ueli-steck-lied.html

    I would really like to watch a few ppl that knew him, chat like this interview platform, about what possibly could have went wrong for Ueli on the Lhotse Traverse!!
    I know there was a heated dispute at camp, and he must have been super exhausted after the 62 sunmits....could these been a factor? Could you do a discussion like that in good conscience?

      A good question: from my research on Ueli's death I found this: Ueli was soloing a treacherous steep face of the famous mountain in the Himalayas called Lotse. This face is well known to be icy and snowy and also very steep. His climbing partner was at basecamp recovering from mild frostbite. He should have been climbing with his partner on this slop so that he would have an "anchor" person (as recommended for this particular slope) but against advice and call it overconfidence or arrogance he tried this slope alone and with tragic consequences. You only need to make one mistake and it's all over. For me, i love Ueli and all that he stands for - perseverance the achievement of excellence, and setting examples for others especially our young people to follow. As they say, Ueli is the ultimate leader who inspires others.

    A climber who I would always listen to and appreciate his honesty. I’ll never forget the interview about Everest, where to my mind something changed in the guy as if he could no longer be bothered with risk assessment. All the money and prestige clearly did not bring him happiness

    There is still many great challenges for Ueli Steck if he wants to climb something even harder. Like The Ogre etc. Soloin that shit would be pretty awesome, don't know how possible thought.

    • @Cactijellyfish
      @Cactijellyfish 8 лет назад +2

      +themahtava Annapurna isn't exactly a small feat, seeing as it is one of the deadliest mountains on the planet. Soloing it would be on of the greatest achievements by mankind, in all seriousness.

    • @Waldlaeufer70
      @Waldlaeufer70 8 лет назад +1

      +themahtava I don't know anything about The Ogre. However, Ueli Steck said in an interview after his Annapurna adventure that he shouldn't take much more risk than there or he would probably die in the mountains one day. He said he wanted to look for challenges that don't increase the risk of dying.

    • @lewistaylor9328

      Waldläufer70 the ogre is a monster of a mountain, it's very difficult but annapurna south face is overall as hard and certainly more dangerous.

    besides being a great sportman this guys was also a cheater !!
    he never summited the south anapurna solo in 28hrs : no photo / no trackers ( a gps tracker weights 30g) / Suunto watch OFF / no witness / satelite phone OFF / no oxygen and only one glove in negative temps at 7000++....what a joke..
    when your a recordman like him and with BIG SPONSORS (sponsors WANTS their money back with media coverages and photos !!) you dont "forget" this clues like a beginner. check professional climbing website : all professionals explains this exploit is in reality impossible.
    same for the Shisha Pangma (8 013 m) in 2011 in 10h30 = lies. the time he claimed with zero proof was proven physically impossible to do .
    he then lost all his credibility to himalayan and professionals climbers.
    hes not the first liar tho : Tomo Cesen in Lhotse and Cesare Maestri in Cerro Torre before have been caught falsifying their proofs of ascents
