- Annapurna is considered to be the world's most treacherous yet thrilling mountains to explore. Climbers who have experienced summiting other over-8000 metre peaks are particularly drawn to this majestic mountain, to its unpredictable climate changes and pristine beauty captured in this exceptional film. To climb Annapurna's South Face is to test every last grain of strength, knowledge, and instinct in conditions that forgive no mistakes.

Fantastic!
And the mountain had spoken !
From Nepal after long time
Those porters are super human.
Yeah just carrying 40kg+ like it’s nothing for days on end, as you say, super human
Annapurna: The man eater.
My neighbor climbed Annapurna. Turned back five times over ten years before summiting sixth expedition
Bet he didn’t climb the south face tho
2019 South Face to East Ridge@@drewpreston9828
What is that huge mountain behind them at 10:42?
not sure but annapurna have various peaks
It looks like the north side of Machapuchare to me (or ‘Fishtail Mountain’). You can see the ridge connecting its 2 peaks. It looks different from every angle but this is the view from the north - and would make sense as to where they were climbing.
👍🏼
You see it again at 13:42 also…and various other flashes throughout the video
Yes, that is Machhapuchhre. I'm spending a night at its base camp today. Magnificent mountain but not allowed to climb.
Insane that this is their first 8000er
Of all of the 8000m peaks, they start with the deadliest one??... Cho Oyu is reputed to be the least difficult of 8000m peaks.
@@antoniotula262indeed, it’s a bizarre decision.
Just getting to base camp and getting to see a mountain like this would be the trip of a lifetime.
It is!
The ABC (Annapurna Base Camp) trek is really not that strenuous I promise you. 5-6 days up and down from Pokhara if you went hard. But also wonderful over 7-9 days.
Perhaps the REAL treat - given the time - is to trek around the Annapurna Circuit (taking you around the entire Annapurna massif and leading you to the NORTH side of these mountains. Manang, Pisang etc were like hidden Shangri-Las!
Millions of views and no comments...cmon people

„Victory is living“ can be interpreted two ways:
Truly living, being up there climbing, is a victory, even if you end up dying.
When the video started, that‘s how I interpreted it.
However, at the end of the video, I saw it differently:
Turning around and not completing the climb is ok, because leaving the mountain still living can be considered a victory.
How did you guys interpret it?
Live to climb another day… It was clear that part of the team was very experienced and wise. No telling how many times they saw things go awry, where people lost digits, toes, nose or their life.
The biggest victory is to come out alive, they made the right decision not pushing. There is always another day to try.
It is never a victory if you end up dying. Your family and loved ones won't claim a victory if you don't return. Saying its a victory even if you die is selfish and stubborn my friend. All lives matter 🙏 ♥️. One heart, One love, One blood, One God, One race HUMANITY ❤. The biggest victory is returning to your family and friends ❤️ 💙 🙏
Exactly
It's an excuse
15:47 appears to be the rough location where Ian Clough was killed in 1970.
Great
I thought for sure they'd find a Rolex watch on the summit from the 1950 expidition, still keeping correct date and time.
Smart man. Magical thinking won't make the excessive snow go away. Climbing into avalanche danger is a gamble for "glory".
Verdade!
Rolex is a perfect choise
Acabo de suscribirme por que me encantan estos documentales que me ayudan mas a apreciar este maravilloso planeta que se nos ha dado por nuestro hogar en este efímero paso por el.
Tambem. Adoro esses documentarios.
Dream team! So much wise and experience here 👌
Located in Nepal 🇳🇵

❤ from Mars. The red planet.
Very good, wise and experienced team... Took right decision at right time
Who would wear an automatic watch over something rugged that can measure heart rate /spo2 ..and altitude...
𝚆𝚑𝚊𝚝 ꀤꑄ 𝔱𝔥𝔦𝔰?! ...
Im from Washington, the mountains are very different over there. In Washington there are trees and forest. It a living wonder land , there the mountains have very few living things and no timber . It looks like the moon

Rolex where even if you reach the mountain top, there still is a fake "waitlist".
Brave people and Brave decision❤️❤️❤️
Brave men pushing themseves to the limit to try and conquer Mother nature at the same time risking their lives to do so.Utterly compeling.
Only 2 comment what??
pub pour rolex !
My dudes picked Annapurna for their first 8000m climb. Balls. Also, how has this been posted for 9 years and no one has commented till yesterday?
Amazing isn't it 🤯
They might have not made it public until now, or maybe it was backdated?
English please
Subtitles. It's a French film so it is in French. If you don't spam French turn on the subtitles.

I am the sixth person to comment here. Hope to do remarkable things in life for myself, my family, my society, my country and my blue dot world to remember life time. Living is victory!
if in doubt there's no doubt. may as well live to climb another day after all it's just climbing for the sake of climbing not like it has to be done.
Proof Nepali people are smarter than the rest of the world. Ain’t no Nepali local trying to ascend Annapurna.
They like their lives. The locals must thing the climbers are suicidal.
Why does this have 1.6M views but only 40 comments??
Rolex doesn't know mountaineering.. pay your 💰. These guys know what's up
Yikes the comments got wiped huh
How horrible!
Excellent photography. Thanks Rolex.
Finally this company is good for something.
Legend...
WHAT A WONDERFUL AND EXTRAORDINARY ADVENTURE THIS WAS!
AND WHO ACTUALLY WAS FILMING OR RECORDING THE VIDEO, DID WITHOUT OF DOUBT AND EXCELLENT WORK IS UNDENIABLE.
Amazing
Third time watching this. I read Herzog's book 30 years ago and even he lamented the endless snow on Annapurna
Anyone who ventures into climbing a mountain like this has got to get his or her head examined.
You have a different idea of living than I do. I've Climbed El Cap three times, the Troll Wall once, and redpointed French 8a. As Socrates said, The Unexamined Life is Not Worth Living. We are all going to die. What did you do in your brief time?
@@brianvirgin2995 Well, climbing a mountain is a great personal achievement if that it what a person is into but there really are way more important and meaningful accomplishments to obtain in one's life. A person's life will not be 'unexamined' if they decide against climbing a high mountain.
Amazing journey. Great respect for all the alpinists.
😮
the matrix is real have no doubts - you are here years after this was posted.....
Wise decision to turn back ,think not yourself but also your family...
The end title really spoke to me and its something I tell myself when I have to turn back, I watched this documentary many years ago. "Living is Victory"
💪🏻00
This was the best documentary I've seen yet of the great mountains and climbs. Very well done. I learned so much from this one video.
😮😮😮😮😮😮
Eu também.
❤️🙏💯
there's nothing more important than stay alive and come back, compare to summit
So beautiful ❤
Yes.👍.

The Rolex We-Only-Climb-If-Conditions-Are-Perfect Mountaineering Team! Can't wait for the next installment.
It's the difference between life or death so I don't blame them.
Wow wonderful 👍 24:04
Why the RUclips algorithm decided to promote this, I'll never know! But I am so glad it did!
Dünyanın en tehlikeli dağı Annapurna.Geri dönmek en doğru karar.Tüm ekibe tebrikler
Comments were disabled that's why there was no comment. Is it too difficult to understand ?!?
Picking annapurna as ur first mountain, that's a bit sus
Two of them, at least, had 8,000m experience.
Sixth person to comment here.
The deadliest of the 8000s.
Sensible thing to do. .....all you guys did well, enjoyed it there. Now give some quality time to your family.
Que bien chacra nina nina
chapeau, you're the winners :)
Es evidente 18
This is amazing I always admire the people that live in these harsh environments with mother nature and what he has to offer it is a challenge when I give up my life for that why not certain benefits and certain things you will never know or half because all you got is what you see but it’s beautiful. Hopefully one day we can see this in real life if you’re up to the challenge
Essas paisagens são lindas de se ver! Maravilha!
Muito foda.
😂 no
So, Rolex features a failed summit? Okay, then.
The French tend to give up too easily
“3/4 of the way we had to climb back down to ask for directions.”

Good decision guys. Even though it must have been difficult at the time to decide to turn back. I wonder if you all ever get to climb Annapurna later on
They continued to make decisions based on the conditions and held emotions back to live another day.
😊😊😊

Porters and guides left out of the video as they climbed higher. The Porters carried up the tents, sleeping bags, house tent, chairs, tables, food, cookware, etc. The guys going light with small packs jackets acting macho. Porters had it hard for a few bucks per day.
It's a rich man's game - playing macho when they're really just a bunch of wienies who want to be carried to the top. Sherpas do all the work.
Nice algorythm
hmm comments
Quitters
No. They were good at making a hard but wise decision in the face of the uncooperative weather.
When rolex sponsor your hike & you forget yo hire sherpas to do the dirty job. Lame 😂
Not gonna lie, the climax was very unfulfilling. They basically failed…France man
Rolex car 🚗 rase wonderful.
