  • Annapurna is considered to be the world's most treacherous yet thrilling mountains to explore. Climbers who have experienced summiting other over-8000 metre peaks are particularly drawn to this majestic mountain, to its unpredictable climate changes and pristine beauty captured in this exceptional film. To climb Annapurna's South Face is to test every last grain of strength, knowledge, and instinct in conditions that forgive no mistakes.

It looks like the north side of Machapuchare to me (or ‘Fishtail Mountain’). You can see the ridge connecting its 2 peaks. It looks different from every angle but this is the view from the north - and would make sense as to where they were climbing.

The ABC (Annapurna Base Camp) trek is really not that strenuous I promise you. 5-6 days up and down from Pokhara if you went hard. But also wonderful over 7-9 days.
Perhaps the REAL treat - given the time - is to trek around the Annapurna Circuit (taking you around the entire Annapurna massif and leading you to the NORTH side of these mountains. Manang, Pisang etc were like hidden Shangri-Las!

„Victory is living“ can be interpreted two ways:
Truly living, being up there climbing, is a victory, even if you end up dying.
When the video started, that‘s how I interpreted it.
However, at the end of the video, I saw it differently:
Turning around and not completing the climb is ok, because leaving the mountain still living can be considered a victory.
How did you guys interpret it?

It is never a victory if you end up dying. Your family and loved ones won't claim a victory if you don't return. Saying its a victory even if you die is selfish and stubborn my friend.

A person's life will not be 'unexamined' if they decide against climbing a high mountain.
