A full tour of my sketchbook I kept from early 2018 to July 2019.
The goal for the book was to dive deep into the possibilities of art and explore new visual ideas on every page to grow as an artist both technically and creatively. This book has been with me across the globe. It's full of ideas and characters from my mind as well as people and places that are important to me and I've learned so much in every possible meaning filling it.
I see this book as one big piece. Each page a different part of me, but together they create a whole portrait. I find it difficult to describe myself or my work, but so far the contents of this book is the best way I've managed to explain myself :-)

What sketchbook did you used ?
this some good shit
Kamuri San moleskine like the title said.
When is a new sketchbook tour coming?
Imagine every page of your sketchbook being a work of art like this
I can only try to imagine lol
@@pigeon445 I know you can do it!
Gotta work more hard 👍👍👍👏👏
Then it's not a sketchbook it's a flexbook.
HilariouslyScary i wouldn’t really call it a sketchbook because pretty much every page is a finished art piece. But the artist can have their own opinion too, and a sketchbook can be anything to them.
I love how free and unpredictable your sketchbook is
Ikr, it's amazing! You don't know what'll come next and that's the best of it, the surprise you'll get
It’s boring portrait
Joe Rodriguez yo shut the fuck up
@@kikeheebchinkjigaboo6631 seriously, theres like 12 different drawing of art hoes lmao
@@kikeheebchinkjigaboo6631 well can you do it ?? If not then kindly don't speak.
All I see is freedom. No restrictions, no context, not even an aesthetic theme whatsoever, just pure freedom. Thank you for sharing your art with us Sean.
the fact that there is no style and there is still aesthetic and beauty to it makes me inspired
This godly, but the fact your paper is thicc enough for ink not to bleed through is even more godlier
ÜS4
Moleskin has pretty great paper quality ^^
One word: MOLESKINE XD
omg yes
Right?
What moleskine is it? Mine bleeds through. I've got the 165gsm art collection one.
This was amazing. This really make me motivated to really go all out in my sketchbook. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching, glad I could motivate you
This is the most beautiful sketchbook in the world
!!!
Jebus, this is one of the most interesting, diverse, weird, fun, imaginative sketchbooks I've ran across.
You sir, are an inspiration. Thank you!
I know it was a mistake but the
‘Jebus’ thingy made me laugh out loud like imagine jebus Christ!!
"jEbuS" Im sorry but I can't with this typo 😂
Moleskin sketch books have a very professional grade paper, I love them.
Do you mind if I ask how much they are? I keep looking for sketchbooks with a thick paper but it's very hard to find them! 😭
@@FrizzleLamb They are VERY overpriced. It's one of those "Yeah but it's Nike Air Max Ultra ... so it's worth £150!" deals. Moleskine are good build quality and have decent hot pressed paper, but they are between £10-£25 (depending on style and size). Many other brands of sketchbook, both hardback and paperback, offer the same build quality with even higher grade paper and with a more dense gsm, for less than half the price. Daler, Rowney, Derwent, Faber Castell etc.
My local "artist" store doesn't even offer Moleskine sketchbooks anymore, because nobody was buying them when they sit right next to higher quality sketchbooks which cost far less.
Moleskine is, like I said, a "status" thing, and is very loved by students and yuppies because of the brand. For the best quality, look elsewhere, and you will pay much less.
I bought my daughter a set of Moleskine Harry Potter notebooks, because they had great front cover designs (embossed) and had been reduced from £20 each (!!!!!!!) to £5. Why? Because nobody bought them for 6 months, and the stationary shop couldn't sell them even at £10. Even at £5 each for essentially notebooks, I was on the fence. But she loves Harry Potter so... yeah.
@@TheVanillatech Oh, I see. Thanks for the info! What sketchbook brand do you recommend that is cheap? :)
@@FrizzleLamb I guess that different countries offer different brands depending on location. In Germany and mainland Europe, Faber Castell will be cheap. In the UK, Daler Rowney is cheap etc.
If you're looking for the best sketchbooks, I always go hardback (pay a little more but protects your work AND gives something solid to rest on). Cold pressed paper gives a rough finish, which adds texture. Hot pressed paper gives a smooth finish which gives more control over tone etc. I always go for a balance in sketch books. Having a bit of surface texture gives something to key to, but then I mainly work with pencil.
Aim for 130gsm density. Anything under 110gsm is very thin, doesn't hold paint or marker well, will bleed through and buckle etc.
Shop around, your local art store (or any decent online art supplier) will have Daler Rowney or Derwent sketchbooks. Faber Castell tend to use mainly paperback + card for their sketchbooks. Just go for a big branded, well renknowned brand in the art world and you cant go wrong, as long as you make sure the paper is dense enough (check the gsm).
If you're in the UK and there is a BOYES store near you, I found them selling paperback Daler A4 sketchbooks for £1 each (!!!!!) with 30 sheets. Failing that, go to Hobbycraft, they often have deals on sketchbooks / art pads such as 3 for 2. Rymans is also good, but stay away from their own brand. They are inexpensive but the quality isn't great, comparable to Moleskine perhaps, but you can find better at Rymans depending on what they have in stock at the time.
Finally, I also reccomend Arboretta sketchbooks. The paper colour is off-white, almost cream, and the paper quality is fantastic. I bought around 20 of these while I was studying illustration and still use them today.
Take a look at "The Art Shop Skipton" at their sketchpads to get an idea.
Hope this helps! XD
@@TheVanillatech Thanks a lot for the help! 🤘😭
I used to be in love with art and drawing and could think of anything to create. Now, i feel so blank. So dry. Its sad... :(
Edit: I feel for all of you people in the comments... 💔
Here are some advice that are helping me lately and hopefully will help you:
▪First of all, if you feel like you have nothing to draw out of imagination, go back to basics by drawing from reference. Look at your old work to feel a little inspired. My imagination with drawing has been blank lately, so i went back to basics to draw poses and gestures from reference. It's helping me because it's taking me back to that feeling of knowing what to do, knowing what to draw, and feeling in control.
▪If you feel depressed and draw then feel so empty still with no ideas (i did that a lot before), i suggest you take a break from drawing for awhile, until you feel like drawing again (but dont take too lonf of a break that u stop drawing entirely, unless maybe you dont want to draw anymore. Also, maybe while youre taking a break, draw at least once in awhile to see if u want to draw again). Try to focus on your mental health first. Get therapy, vent out to friends, family, or your journal. Because sometimes if you draw then u feel depressed, ur brain can associate bad emotions with drawing which wont make you feel like drawing anymore.
▪Lastly, dont critique every single drawing u make just because it didnt turn out the way you wanted it to be, or another persons art is way better than yours (because i did that a lot and it was making things worse). Its good to find 'some' mistakes in your art so u can improve it but it wont help thinking that ur whole art is trash. Thinking this way can be a bad habit so whenever u see ur art and start thinking about how ugly or "not perfect" it is, try changing that thought with a more positive one (and dont thing that youre lying to yourself when u do that. U might feel like that at first like i did, but keep going on until u get used to thinking much better). By changing the way u used to think about a situation, something or someone, the way u feel about that thing will change overtime, depending on how u made urself think about it. This practice is called CBT, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and is a really effective way of therapy. So youre basically giving yourself a self-therapy ❤
But remember that it all comes down to choices. If youre willing enough to change then there will be changes, small and big.
Good luck to all of us on our art journey and mental health journey ❤
If u guys have any more advice, just comment down below. Let's help one another 😊
You've described 100% the same way I feel too
sometimes for me it helps to just draw daily life, like your friends or family or even how you're feeling that day. art shouldn't be about feeling pressured to make a masterpiece every time, instead u should feel free enough to just create & make mistakes & not worry about it being perfect or not but also maybe end up with something u really like now and then.
If I feel like that (and I do so very often) I force myself to make a very small (and very bad) painting. This helps me to get into it again.
To get inspiration and motivation I love looking at photographies and other artworks
same..... i used to be so passionate about it but depression took over and now im so empty and lost cjshhss
I cant thank you enough for this comment. Youre a saint
Imagine having a sketch book where every page has completed artwork.
Can’t relate.
Can't relate cuz I don't have a sketchbook
For those finding yourselves pausing to admire the artwork, try slowing the video down instead so you don't have to constantly click and reclick, I slowed it down to x0.5 and found it was the perfect speed to admire the work for long enough ^^
Wow, you've got a little bit of everything here. There's enough variety for you to go in any direction you want.
Stay versatile, dude! And keep up the good work 👍
Every page is so different and i absolutely love that you just let you imagination go free and go with the flow i wish i was a little less overly organized with my sketchbooks tbh
Do you know what OCD means? Lmao idiot
@@jasmijnraaij2987 gee, someone Had a Bad day
@@dasgefurchtetetetetetetete2565 I had a great day actually 😂
@@zucker8224 oh no that was definitely not my intention! I actually struggle with minor ocd ( diagnosed) and I guess i refer to it a bit too much to describe that i like to be organized :) ill try to describe things a little better and ill do a quick edit xx
I really feel what you're trying to say! My sketchbook is so strictly themed and organized that it gets suffocating sometimes. I can't physically get loose in those pages and it kills me. I'm scared of experimenting and leaving unfinished pages. But I guess that's just cuz I'm a beginner. Maybe I'll loosen up more as I get comfortable with my style.
I had to pause the video a lot so I could enjoy each page for a little longer. Man, this is spetacular
every single art youtuber: *fully completes a sketchbook with beautiful art on every page*
me: *buys new sketchbook every week because i destroyed the first page*
This right here is SKETCHBOOK GOALS! Sketchbooks are supposed to be a place for freedom and experimentation!
This is honestly the coolest thing I've ever seen. How the heck are you so dang creative
i love when books get imperfections, paint marks, bent pages and a softness to the spine of the notebook! amazing and so diversely creative :D
Best of all. No talking, just various amazing art on sketchbook pages.
The best sketchbook tour i have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!💕✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ so incredible
I come back to this video every few months as inspiration
same
Idk why, but dancing lemons make me smile!
As an artist, I fully relate to the instinct to flip through the pages quickly when showing someone a sketchbook. As a fan of art, I was chaotically slapping my spacebar every other second to pause and get a better look at each page.
Play it at half speed and the atmosphere gets 10x cooler and creepier
Indeed 🙂! Music is so cool this way, better than original
This made me cry so much. I've lost my creative touch in everything. Somehow this reminded me how beautiful art can be. I hope one I day go back and start creating again. Thank you for sharing❤️
Am I the only one who was brought to tears watching this? Yes? Okay.
As someone who has struggled with art for years, this made me itch to create, and also sink into the despair that comes with accepting that perhaps art just isn't for me....
Absolutely genius. Each spread has its own feel and atmosphere.. I love it ❤️❤️❤️❤️ keep doing all of this, it's amazing
I would fucking BUY that book. Such an unique collection of beautiful art
Your literally the only youtube artist that don't have a 5 minute explanation of what they are about. Mad respect 🙏🏽
I'm getting some real Lemon-Grab vibes from some of the pages...I LOVE ITTTT! I love the mix in art styles throughout the book
Best sketchbook tour ever, what I like about it, no useless talking.
I think this is probably the most wholesome thing I saw on RUclips, ever
I keep coming back to this video. I love the art so much.
The black, red, and white art is just too good
this is the best sketchbook tour on youtube. PERIODT
This is incredible. You’re the best artist I’ve ever seen on this platform, such great work!!
I literally I saw the same cover of the video on pinterest I went out to look for inspiration to paint the RUclips and bang, I find your video, YOUR ART IS AMAZING
Meanwhile, how every page in my sketchbooks look: Left page @ 2:08
literally same, i turn the page after a scribble of like a smiley face or something.
@@jasper24601 I've never related to anything more in my life. I'll draw a face, erase it, draw it again just as bad and then move on to the next page.
I can't believe there isn't more views cause this is so good
Everything blows me away
I’m reality I feel like is artist are the only ppl who don’t take this blessed talent of ours as a competition only motivation
How is ONE PERSON this friggin talented...
I FREAKING LOVE IT, It feels like a manifestation of freedom ❤️.

Incredeble... i dont find any words how i am feeling know... Sean your description is telling everything.... Thank you alot this is inspiring me soo much ...beautiful
God. This sketchbook def wears a Supreme hat when it goes out.
I’d love to see videos in which you fill sketchbook pages and bring your insight and show what supplies you use. I love your work shown here and am excited to see what happens in the future with your artwork.
It's so inspiring that you make art with such a range of art styles in one sketch book! All really amazing and different, wild and beautiful
Where do I live ? I live right next to a street lamp in a city called " ARTIST BLOCK " .
@@seforaflorian8682 YES PLEASE lol
@@naysstudio3256 move then :D Pack your bags and go :D
This sketchbook is exactly what I want mines to be like. My goals were always these few things: first - mastering anatomy, perspective, learning to imitate reality in general. Second - forcing myself to play - with new tools, styles, shapes, colors, textures. I see all of that in this piece and I'm madly in love with it 💗
I always get excited when I recognize what was referenced bc I've used the same ones before
im a 18 year old artist and i have been struggling with finding an art style for so long, every time i want to draw something it turns into a different style to the previous one and it has always made me insecure about my art but seeing this video and your amazing sketchbook really inspired me, i fell in love with every page and i somehow felt a freedom and made me realise how beautiful it is to create anything that comes to our minds no matter what...so thank you so much for this, your art is incredible and so unique ❤
Not only is the dude so good at tricking, but art as well, you're so creative !
I watch this whenever i get anxious or uneasy and it just always calms me down
The yellow people with the shoes! Was so beautiful I loved it
i've seen like 5 videos of people painting that same photo of that pink haired girl on the thumbnail lol
And now you will (mabye) see 1 person draw your profile pic
Lmao right, I remember Chris Hong Art paint the same person
It's orange
one word: Pinterest
Duuude you changed my life. Seeing your work makes me see how much more I can push the boundaries of my own work
That's one of the best things I could hope for :)
Now this is just fücking beautiful
The music is really calming
His creativity is mindblowing
I love the colours and different kinds of arts you are producing
FEELS LIKE LOOKING INTO SEAN'S SOUL !!
Freedom should be our art style. Beautiful sketchbook Sean, thank you.
imagine actually having enough commitment and creativity to not only complete every page but also make all of them unique wow
I’m watching this 10 pm in Hong Kong and now I miss the carefree artist I used to be as a child. I guess life rushes you by and you become obsessed with the direction and routine. Just recently turning 23 I wonder if the universe will allow me to pursue this old passion of mine
I'm extremely impressed with the versatility!! Never seen anything like it.
Also the music was perfect...it didn't distract, only supported the art.
This is a wonderful sketchbook. thanks for sharing and providing lots of inspiration.
This maybe the best sketchbook i've seen in terms of variety of subjects, mediums and styles. I strive to be as free as you in my sketchbook one day.
Your 2 minute video has given me years of inspiration, Sean. Beautiful work.
Every single page is so unique
Wow, those 2 women paintings at both 0:56 and 1:10, absolutely captivating! I hope one day to paint like that! xx
Wow!! Your sketchbook is insane. Motivated to grab my pen and continue with my sketchbook!!
I've been into sketchkook videos alot lately so i've watched quite the amount but most i didnt like cuz they kind of were messy and not consistent, ik sketchbooks r supposed to be like tht but for me i feel like there should be two types of different sketchbooks, one where u teach urself and allow yourself to make a lot of mistakes, try different things for the first time and one where u learn, apply everything u tought urself to do, make beautiful mistakes this time, be yourself and express through ur art, i dunno if its makes sense but i dont like them being mixed cuz i love those where artists learn and express themselves better, reason ive been going through sketchbook videos is becuz i want to start my first one after years of losing motivation for just holding a pencil, now i want to try again and head dive right in... i personally think this is the most beautiful raw learning/expressing sketchbook i've seen so far and i finally know now how i want mine to be, thank you for inspiring me, i mean it, every page of this sketchbook is outstanding, i wonder if you re also a big fan of james jean? i felt like he was there among the pages and i love it even more, thank you once again 💜💜💜💜💜💜
Universal beauty love this. Universal knowledge
Wow this sketchbook is insane
I can never bring myself to stick with one style as I always want to explore different ways so I've become very self conscious of not having a persistent style and that's kinda discouraged me from continuing
but hey watching you flip through your sketchbook and seeing so many diverse drawings was mesmerising and inspiring
thank u❤️
This is by far the coolest and most artistic sketchbook ever.
For the longest time I've wanted to change my vibe of my art and rn I started a new sketchbook and am desperately trying.
But this is my ideal art. This is honestly the most beautiful sketchbook. This makes me want to try harder to get to something I'd like.
Wow. That was THE best sketchbook I’ve ever seen
The diversity in art style! Woahhhhh!
Mind = f***ing bloWN!
I absolutely admire your sketchbook! Lovely work
I'm just starting out on my art 'journey' as such. I've never paid attention much to art or taken a class, but something that inspired me was videos like this, sketchbook flip throughs. To see so many styles and interpretations of a piece, or emotion. It's amazing.
this, for me, is such an intimate video. showing your entire self through art is sometimes sensitive to show to your family and friends, let alone anyone in the world. some might be perfectly okay with it, but I just feel very protective over the things I express through my art
Это просто потрясающе, захватывает дух и воображение!
That was absolutely wonderful.
This is my favorite sketchbook I've ever seen. Period. It's breathtaking
I'm a simple man. I see a dope sketchbook, I subscribe.
Holy moly. So beautiful.
