I Agree! I'm still waiting for a clear explanation of what happens with the Shark if the battery is low & I have topped up the gas tank full? will I be able to drive in any of the modes, or will I still be limited to the low battery power only, UNLESS.. I drive at 70mph or Above... to activate the "Hybrid system, & engage the gas ICE engine into the fight?....I still want that simply cleared up. basic question, can I go gas only & recharge battery when battery is low & I've topped the gas to full? This may not be the ute for you if you're towing a heavy boat (2500kg+). They are working on a 3500kg towing ute with potential at 2.0L petrol engine but unsure of when that one will be announced. For the moment Diesel is still the way to go for heavy towing
Seems odd that they went for a 1.5 range extender that needs premium unleaded on a ute. A 2.0 that can run on regular unleaded and maybe a bigger battery would seem to make more sense here and give it a higher tow rating of at least 3K kgs?
I've seen a few complaints about the ride, but they should have dropped a couple of hundred kg in the back to give it a bit more of a chance. Personally I'd prefer a stiff ride when empty than a soggy ride with some gear onboard or having to buy new springs in the 1st 1500km.

It’s 21st century 😂
it is tucked into the ladder frame, well protected.
BYD CTB chassis is crazy, it's torsional rigidity is on par with rolls Royce phantom. Don't take my word for it, go watch side pole impact test of the BYD seal.
Differnet chemistry. no big deal just an insurance hassle if covered.
Fake, tradie and Ute to match. This a copy of the major brands. Typical of these brands.
seen the Tasman yet?
I'm fine with hybrid, but not plug-in.
Then don't charge it
@@MarsOzzie ...so then why pay for what is essentially a surplus to requirement feature. Straight hybrid is smarter.
@@1969cmp cannot drive for 80km or more in ev mode with a hybrid.
@@TerryHickey-xt4mf I hired a Camry Hybrid for a week in FNQ. Before returning it to the rental the refill was $28. It spent a lot of time in EV mode. Wonderful system.
The looks is terrible
The key fail of BYD's Shark can't be idenfified in a short review - durability. Chinese customers have had this vehicle and found it to be inadequate for any long term heavy use. Search RUclips. The steel used for the undercarraige is poor and incapable of standing heavy use for any significant time. It may be fine if you want a very light use truck for paved roads; but not as a work truck; not as a off road vehicle and that is what BYD often tries to sell it as. If you use it heavily; expect it to be a piece of junk as critical components break - and replacing them with more junk won't help.
you cant buy this in China...
@@fastfil Of course you can; they've had it for some time prior to western introduction; it is smaller than the similarly poorly constructed Leopard 5. . This isnt a new vehicle; the hybrid version is new but this isn't going to mean they will improve the body and undercarraige. Still the inferior steel is used. One video shows a mechanic bend and break the steel with a wrench. Horrid.

Proof is always in the pudding. Not from YT videos of unknown nature posted by just about anyone with an agenda or are to grind with BYD. If you can't get your hands on one to test it, then the next best thing is to check out the reviews done by review channels that are reliable and well known among the auto industry. And having done reviews for many years.
@@litestuffllc7249 Shark has been released in Mexico only. What ute are you referring to?
@@fastfil What are you talking about? The very first line in this video is the Shark model shown is in Australia. IT has the Same Name in China. The 6 refers to the new hybrid; the 5 ,4 3 are all in China same base truck various power packages. The Leopard is also in China same company same poor quality steel.
The vehicle might be very good but the presenter be seems to have this inability to realise that they cannot act. They can’t act because they’re a car presenter. They can’t act because they too much much where you have to think of what you’re saying and how to dramatically present itwithout edits because they’re hard for somebody to do and it makes fun. Well I’m more costly production but a slick production I’m just sorry that this vehicle suffers from the lack of production from the presenting journalist and the costuming seems like it’s from Toys “R” Us.
