Like traveling back in time... with someone you trust. I hear the past and the present, as one, in this song. Thanks, Big Wreck.
That’s a great description
That's what I'm talking about!
The 80's with a touch of early 90's and 2022 thrown in there for good measure!
The production on this song is beautiful. Everything is so tight and snappy. Cool track, very 80s nostalgic
I really love Ought to Be. Such a great song! I love the beat, the harmonies in the pre-chorus, and the guitar and vocals in the chorus. 😎🎧👏
Y’all are so underrated
Has an 80s Genesis vibe to it...drums and all. Nice job!!
But raw!
a little too much compression for my liking, but it ay be the Audio-Passthrough EQ morphology from laptop to Soundbar via HDTV ... ???
Caught me off guard with that synth, but still sounds like Big Wreck.
Wasn't expecting that; this is a refreshing sound!
Great song!
I like the song but I kinda hate the drums lol.
Pretty cool tune. It has a 1980s feel to it. Cheers! ✌️🇨🇦
I still wanna know why this was taken off Spotify. It's still my #1 Big Wreck song. Hate that I have to switch to RUclips just to hear it.
But I'm thankful it's still here in RUclips.
Any Day we get a new song from Big Wreck is a Great Day! Looking forward to more and hopefully a U.S. Tour. G
Right. Come to the West Coast!
@@sixstringnerd been waiting decades for them to come near me.. i gave up. lol
I'm getting a Miami Vice feel with this. Jan Hammer, eat your heart out. The 80's must be making a comeback. The Veronicas just released two albums with several songs steeped in the 80's, particularly "High Score." Makes me want to go play Donkey Kong.
Grace Street had some 80s vibe going on - especially One Good Piece of Me. A bit of Asia influence, maybe.
This song somehow reminded of ZZ Top's Velcro Fly vibe.
Ian's voice is pretty unique.
You could be in the worst mood in the world, like finding out you may have cancer. But these guys will always bring your mood back to level and feeling good.
Came here expecting to hear riffs and left with an insanely catchy tune in my head. Not at all disappointed
Definitely took me back to my 80's childhood. Vintage.
Got my tickets, see you guys in Montreal! love the new tune. Big Wreck is a Canadian treasure
Big Wreck's 2019 show in Montreal at the Corona was the last concert I went to before...before the dark times.
I like this but I do really miss Brian's shiny diamond like guitar arpeggios playing underneath the rhythm guitars.
But I'm always happy for new Big Wreck.
Much Peace & Love my dudes!
Truth
Damn,I really like it.
Love the retro 80's vibe!
Noice!! Best thing to wake up to.
Big Wreck destroys the 80s! Bamm!
Didn't see that coming. By the time the song was over, I was hooked. Sneaky.
That chorus slams!
This is quickly becoming my new favorite of theirs
No it's not
Has some Genesis vibe going on. Cool!
Wicked that voice is killer that's the only voice that could compared to Chris Cornell love it
Yup!
The voice maybe not the songwriting tho. Soundgarden kills big wreck lol
Thornley is much more talented than Chris, and I love Chris...and quit comparing the two! I bet Ian hates that, as do most..
@@Avionic-go7ep no chance in hell bro 🤣🤣 Cornell is the goat. Legends acknowledge legends and I ain’t ever hear another legend really talk about thornley like they do Cornell ask Robert plant lol
@@stereoguns8558 I disagree with you :D I think if you listen to the overall music, Thornley has songs that grow on you like age itself nevermind albums that you can listen to front to back. I don't want to take away from Chris because he is a goat. I think we are talking about two brothers in the industry that are undeniably great and they happen to share a similar voice mostly at wailing levels imo. Ian is a great Canadian songwriter/lead guitarist/lead vocalist and very underated. Oh and yes I've seen/heard them both live more than twice XD
The story of this song is so cute to hear. I get to see them for the first time end of July!!
The more I listen to this song, the more I like about it. It's catchy as hell. Drums sound amazing.
Dandy! Dig the 80's new wave vibe, but still undeniably BW. I knew there was something to that cover of "Shout", Ian is mood.
Dig it. BW rules.
This song would have fit perfectly in any of John Hughes's 80's flicks!
Fits perfectly in a garage bin
@@tomsmith9961 go get your boosters, tout de suite
Fingers still remain crossed for these guys to come over to the UK sometime 🤞
I Dig it~ Ian Sounds New and Fresh~ Always Stunning 🤩 Best Band on the Planet! 🌸💗🌸
I LOVE the 80s vibe on this!
Great quality catchy pop tune. Ian sure does have a way with a melody!
Love this song. Has an old school sound too it
Super catchy! Another great one from Big Wreck!
niiiiiiiice! 😎💘💃💃💃🙏
This is refreshing.
Catchy and cool! I like it!
80’s vibe. Melodies. Killer tune. 👏👏👏
Anyone else notice that this song is no longer available on spotify? I'm super bummed cause I can't listen to it there anymore
Immediately. It's my current #1 Big Wreck track.😢
Another Classic Big Wreck tune...Love it!
Classic?
Love the 80s vibe! I’m breaking out the Cavariccis, walk through some hair spray, and putting this tune on repeat for the rest of the day! Hmmmm…But I think that makes me “East Side”…. :-)
Love it!
So talented 😎
Sounds like an 80’s throwback.
Ah! Drums! Nice and Crisp! Great Tune. These guys are Awesome!!!
That's Chuck on drums!!
@@MollyCanuck is that his last performance? I heard he left
Brilliant Song one of His best!!!
Woot!
Hoooolly!!!! what a good song I'm glad I'm awake right now !!!!!
🇨🇦 def 80's feel, I love it
Great song! 👏👏👏
OH WHAT A SURPRISE BIG WRECK TRACK?! WOO
Never disappointed....absolutely amazing!
It’s got an 80’s “Yes” vibe (Trevor Rabin era)
I think it's the bass that gives that vibe, and the chorus solidifies it.
This is just proof how good Ian Thornley is at writing songs. NOT THAT WE NEEDED IT
He's brilliant! one of the best ...
Can't wait for the new album! Since you guys came back with Albatross I just buy whatever you put out, but the singles help pass the time
I Dig it!! More please. Thank you BW!!!!
brings me back to school big time makes all ones that did not belong to any group we either stuck out to much or just did not exist at all
Something a little different, sounds great!!
I dig it.
Genesis tip brah
Sweet. I dig it.
In winnipeg there actually the east end and the west boys. Onlyu the best recognise
This is fantastic. Great groove and tones as usual.
I don't pay attention to lyrics much, but this song has a great message, timely.
This is great i love it !! I wish i could see them live at least once
That is a must....they are better live, best live band I have seen hands down.
Awesome tune!!
*they'll
sorry, couldn't let it go...
Cool song.
Love this song. Is there anyway to buy it even as mp3?
I'm definitely down with this..I'm happy with what I hear..
This is so catchy! I love it, such a groovy piece
very Hall & Oates and I love those guys!
As explained on the Patreon page, this is a stand alone single and will not be on any of the 3 five-song EPs that will be released over the next year. Simply BW stretching their legs, trying new things and sounds and formulas. Love it!
Is chuck keeping no longer in the band?
@@SillyGoose2024 no he is not. This is him on this track tho. He left to focus on his family.
Sekou Lumumba, who played with Ian in the Thornley days.
@@SteveStJean-in8hv yeah i mnow sekou is back. I was wondering if keeping is temp out or permanently gone
@@SillyGoose2024 neither have been confirmed but I’m leaning towards permanently.
Dig the hell out of these guys!
That is a catchy bass line
A departure from what I'm used to hearing from them. And still pull off an amazing sound. Ian's vocals do great justice to something that might sound otherwise disappointing. Ian could take any crappy sounding song and make it sound totally uncrappy.
That typo; ouch! Enjoyable track though. Not sure why people seem to be surprised by the 80s vibe. Ian has been mentioning using synth bass and 80s drum sounds in interviews for about a year.
Summertime jam what a way to finish the long weekend!
Big wreck's drummer is the half brother of Marquette's mens basketball team.
at school in the late 70.s
Dec 26 2023 ❤ ...
get to see them this month in my hometown, cant wait!
It's not fair that a guy who can play like that can sound like this.
This is the best BW song since the Grace Street album. Fantastic. Keep up the great work.
Most feel Grace Street is Ian's worst album. Ian ignores that whole album when he plays live.
@@tomsmith9961 I'm not most. 🤷♂️ I love that album, and I don't particularly enjoy "But for the Sun, which many others love. We all have individual preferences.
@@RyanLongP No we don't
@Ganesh Green No we didn't
@Ganesh Green Ok I forgot
There’s a typo at 1:50. Surprised they missed that. Interesting song. If you removed Ian’s voice it kind of has an 80s Genesis thing during the verses. I love Big Wreck and pretty much everything Ian does so this will grow on me, I’m sure.
If they were going for somthing catchy, then this is a jackpot. I could remember the chorus after one listen.
I'm picturing this playing over a montage of someone in the 80's wearing a neon tank top working out.
Fucking genius as usual!
New album coming guys? Love '' All Comes Out In The Wash/
And motionless.
Great albuns ian is a best singer of all generation.deserve more views.
Yes, this song and Middle of Nowhere are stand alone singles and will not be included on the 3 five-song EPs that will be released later in 2021 and beyond
Harika şarkı 👍
Is this available for purchase? I can't find it on iTunes.
That hook tho...
Otter Be
Cmon fella. If yer gonna do a lyric video, at least have yer guy make sure there aren't spelling errors. Look early for a missing y
0:47… nice typo *the’ll*
Who knew?! The grammar police are on RUclips too!! 😉😄
What an album is it from?
When I hear this, The Karate Kid soundtrack pops into my mind. Cruel Summer, Young Hearts.
Whomever typed in the lyrics is fired. What's shocking is I'm the only one who seems to have noticed. What's more shocking is this channel only having 28k followers. So I like it but...why the synth on top of the bass line? Dude's such an awesome player, so I don't get it.
