    • @CrazyCoolCrochet
      @CrazyCoolCrochet  4 года назад +4

      I'm so glad you like this yarn as much as I do. I would start with a chain of 161. Hold it up against your body (a bit below the hips). The chain should extend away from the body about 6 inches on each side. If you need a longer starting chain be sure you end with an odd number. Allow for a bit of "shrinkage" when you start the mesh stitches. Hope this helps!

    • @CrazyCoolCrochet
      @CrazyCoolCrochet  3 года назад

      The Red Heart yarn used here is too delicate for a man's poncho. I might try Red Heart Super Saver Ombre in Timber (browns). However, I haven't used this stitch with a Super Saver. The Unforgettable used here is very thin and Super Saver is much thicker. Thank you for watching!

  • @m-rstringer3750
    @m-rstringer3750 3 года назад +1

    Dear CCC (wish I knew your real monicker): why are so many yarns misrepresenting their weights, do you have any idea ? I would call that "Unforgettable" DEFINITELY no more than a light DK, and thus no. 3 - as it seems you would, too.

    • @CrazyCoolCrochet
      @CrazyCoolCrochet  3 года назад

      This is the second time in as many days someone has said they wished I used my name more often. It is Sylvia. I'll try to incorporate that more in my videos. I prefer people remember Crazy Cool Crochet but ok...The yarn weights are pretty meaningless. This is why I never order yarn online. I have to see it and feel it and compare to other brands and "weights" to get the right one. So frustrating!

    Hello how many chains for a medium? Can this be worn by a man as well?

    • @CrazyCoolCrochet
      @CrazyCoolCrochet  4 года назад

      You can find more detail at the blog. The link is in the description area below the video. Increase the starting chain as needed ending with an odd number. For example for size medium use a starting chain of 141. Then increase the length by as many rows as you prefer, ending with a right side facing you row.
      The yarn and stitch is too soft and delicate for a man. The drape is very flowy. Using a thicker #4 yarn would make it more "manly". Have you seen this one? Different colors would work great for a man: ruclips.net/video/0bPbm8XKZys/видео.html

    I have started this 3 times and the bottom is always stretched out and I am worried the top will be too small.

    • @bonniecandace
      @bonniecandace 3 года назад

      I started again with an H hook and did the chain, sc and first mesh row, then switched to an I hook and after 10 more rows of mesh the sides are still square with the bottom.

    • @CrazyCoolCrochet
      @CrazyCoolCrochet  3 года назад

      If you are using the same yarn as in the tutorial, it is normal to have the bottom stretched out and look wider than the top. The yarn is so stretchy that this happens. However, once the panels are joined and you put it on, it makes no difference. It is not noticeable because this yarn is also very drapey. The drape is very flowy.

Adjust the chain size as needed ending with an odd number. Remember, it's very important to use the same yarn I use here to get the same look and drape. @@yulianamaldonado3467 I try not to keep people waiting. The 121 chains is for the size small. 141 is for medium. I weigh 93 pounds and that's me in the photos in the video. So 121 is not too big. The 5 inches on each side is what extends away from the body. Place the chain in front of your hips.
