- We are traveling to Japan for the first time ever! Come with us on our Japan travel day as we grab breakfast at the Delta Skyclub in LAX before boarding our 12 hour plane to Japan. For this trip we booked Premium Select which is the second most expensive category of seats on this plane - was it worth it? Find out! Once we land in Japan we check into Hotel Gracery in Shinjuku known for the huge Godzilla above their building. We’ll do some exploring of Shinjuku, including discovering Japan’s 7-11, exchanging our American cash for Japanese yen, and our first encounters with Japanese vending machines and Melon soda. Come with us on this adventure!

Go grab some at Tokyo Central, Marukai, Mitsuwa or Nijiya! They're all over LA! They don't usually have the Fanta version, but they have other brands! @OrdinaryAdventures
Let me tell you something: Watching your plane take off with the music reminded me of something I often do now whenever I take off. Before the flight I download the Rocketeer on Disney+, I press play when the plane starts pulling out. I pause right before Cliff Secord takes off. I hit resume when my plane starts charging down the runway to take off and... I don't know. That music score, with physical speed, felt powerful.

Heck this is wholesome. I've been to Japan twice and love it with every fiber of my being. I am SO EXCITED to see you guys react to seeing everything there with brand new eyes. Tokyo is amazing...I can't imagine a cooler place on planet Earth.

The empty luggage for stuff to bring back is the pro tip. We actually ended up filling a packable duffel, another suitcase, and ended up using our stroller bag to carry more stuff! Japan is the best :)

When I went to Italy, we shipped home all our dirty clothes to save suitcase space. We didn't want to risk shipping souvenirs! We also packed cheap undies and tossed them each day. No carrying home dirty underwear 😆

We bring several foldable duffles for this. Yep the laundry goes into them and the valuables with enough “protection” in the suitcases.
We are going to Japan in March 2024 and we plan to just carry 2 backpacks for our family of 4 since we will be moving every 2 days. We plan to just buy a new luggage in japan on our last 2 days to bring back.
When I was 12 I went to summer camp with the YMCA and met and friended Japanese girls. We came pen pals and I wrote to them for many years. I lost contact with them when I got married. Time passed and the Tsunami hit Sendai where they were from. It made me want to look for them. I found one on Facebook and friended her. To this day I still haven't gone to Japan. I have dreamed my whole life of going. I'm 47. I cried watching your video because I felt like I was with you.

I miss Japan so much 😭 it’s been almost 10 years since I’ve lived there, so I can’t even imagine how much it’s changed. Thanks for bringing us along! Now, I have a VERY important question for you: have you seen any apple tea (like in the Lipton bottles or other brand in the vending machines)?? I need to knowwwwwwww if it still exists, I literally dream about the stuff.
We had some apple tea soda at Disney off a tap but I think it was a different company

I’ve been watching you two for so long for all my Disneyland, CA content! We got the news in January that we will be hosting a high school girl from Japan for a year! As soon you starting posting vlogs about Japan I started screaming, crying of excitement! My husband and I have been watching every video of yours, soaking in all the Japan culture to get ready for our exchange student when she arrives in August. I haven’t finished watching this but I am loving it. I’m so glad you flew first class. That’s the only way I fly I was in first class the day I saw you guys and I’m glad you’re able to enjoy it and of course people are gonna know who you are you’re so sweet and kind your ordinary adventures with a star back to the video❤
We did end up running into maybe 1 or 2 people a day but they were all tourists from the states, a lot California 😂 no Japanese Ordinary Adventures ha

Shinjuku brings me back. Just seeing you standing in Kabuki-cho brings me back to my first time 🥲. Convenience stores like 7-11 or Lawson's as well as the Vends were life blood for me when I was there. I even pause scrolled Peter's list and saw Happy Pancake and Parco Mall so that's a great time. I can't wait to see the rest of the trip! Glad you had a blast! 2 Fun facts: 1. You can go Go Karting in Shinjuku on the roads. 2. The fake food is called shokuhin sampuru, they used to be made of wax before plastic and there are a lot of collectors who have entire collections of this stuff!
That fake food is an art. Also we didn’t get to 1/4th of the stuff I had on that list unfortunately 😔 but only a reason to go back

(Also if you are interested, you should go check out the Sailor Moon museum, another cool place that celebrates an iconic heroine whom I also love very much) but that is if you want to.
