I, just today, decided that i wanted to try out yugioh again. So I bought some cards to try and prepare for Phantom rage this November because I decided to build a Phantom knights deck. I'm a huge Fan of Darksouls and knights in generall and I really like the Design of the Phantom knight cards. I can't wait for the New support and to open some packs again to try and build my own deck with a mix of singles and product. I've also never been to a tournament before since i played more casually back in the day with my friends mostly. The last time I played with actual cards Was back when the Six Samurai deck released; so at the Start of the xyz era. I've definetely got a lot of catching up to do and I really want to thank YOU Cimoo and other Yugitubers like Mbt Revz and Nymhnymh for peaking my interest in the game again and making interesting content that even someone who doesn't play the game can enjoy. Sincerely thank you :)
Phantom Knights are available in the "Legendary Heroes" box 2018, which also contains the Destiny HERO & Nordic decks. In Amazon, the decks can be sold separately if you just wanted "The Phantom Knights".
I highly recommend that you buy singles ,instead of trying to get all the cards you need by pulling them from packs. It's way cheaper (in most cases), but if you want to open some packs for the fun of it, go ahead.
Thanks for the suggestions^^ I bought the baseline of the Extra and Maindeck today as Singles (so cards like Phantomknight blade, cloak, silent boots etc.). I held off on some cards since i bought a couple tins of lost memories.(mainly because i wanted to open some packs since I haven't scratched that itch in years xD) I got an Appulousa from the first 2 tins which was super lucky but there are still 2 cards for the planned extra deck in there and I'm waiting till weekend for my other 2 to arrive. But other than that I don't plan to buy too much sealed product; mainly just Phantom rage when it releases to get the satisfaction of finishing the deck with opened packs instead of complete Singles. I'm aware it's a lot more expensive but i think the joy cancels it out for me at least in this situation^^
Concerning the side deck: I want to have a budget setup at first so the list i've got is: 3x cosmic cyclone 3x forbidden chalice 3x gamciel or radian (thinking about Putting allure in the deck) 3x called by the grave 1x imperial order 2x ghost ogre I've got 3 ash in and 3 darkruler in main. I know it's Lp restriction doesn't really play well with the arc rebellion otk but since droplet is expensive it's the only other option. Kaiju for Dragoon, Chalice as budget Imperm, cyclone as backrow hate, called by because Handtraps are a thing. Imperial and ogre are more filler but i can't really think of something else besides droll/lancia which apparently aren't really that good in the meta right now. Any suggestions? Maybe D/D crow?
I'm happy to hear you take casual player interests into consideration. It's easy for seasoned players to write off a lot of decks because they can't compete but I feel that you can have fun with suboptimal archetypes and strategies, as long as you don't get your hopes up too high in unfavorable matchups. It's a game so have fun with it
I once spin a full Dragon Link combo and punch my friend's life point while they have a man eater bug set and a mirror force. After that I only play online.
Yeah... Granted some of the recent structure decks are doing a good job making the more competitive half the game accessible. (Endemion, monarchs, Shaddolls, and soulburner.)
I remember when I pieced together a half broken ddd deck and played it with my 2 casual friends. We would play our own made up rule 1v1v1 and it ended up becoming a 2v1 as single structure deck ancient gears and blue eyes kept losing to crystal wing and siegfried
And then you end up in my situation where I miss the "cool creature" archetypes like Alien, Venom, Earthbound Immortal, and Infernity, but every archetype nowadays is just a bunch of cute anime girls or robots. Excited for Abhyss, at least.
I'm a returning casual player and while I don't think I'm competitive by any means, I feel like my understanding of the game is expanding by getting back into it and having fun. Right now I'm using a Monarch deck and while I don't play an extra deck I've been having a blast playing with friends again.
How i chose my 2 decks: "This mechanic is pretty damn unique, I'll see how far i can take this" "Huh.... well i already have most of the cards anyway... oh look, new support just got announced"
Any suggestions? I've been looking for a new deck that just *oozes* gimmick/unique mechanics and all I've been able to come up with is 6000 ATK Sheep Tokens.
I still love Noble Knights. I don't play them much anymore but I still have the deck made and I still enjoy using it on my more casual friends when I can. The recent support for it has helped
How I choose a new deck: „Oh look it’s in my nearly not existing budget“ After I‘ve chosen one Deck I‘ll prepare my self for an huge argument with my bankaccount
Determine your play style, the archetype's concept, potential, consistency and power. Personally, I take artwork into account, as well. Commemorating Ulti-Cannahawk no longer on the F & L list. 🐦⚡
I am 24. I am Christmas. I love Dragonlink and im gonna play it till the very End. Always go along with the Dragon Veins. Or just play weird Spellcaster decks that have lots of pricy cards wasted in the deck.
The reason why I picked up D/D/D, a friend of mine was helping me build a deck with a bunch of card I had, and I saw lamia on the side and figure I should play the archetype
How to choose a deck in 2020: 1: Can you summon Red-Eyes Dragoon? 2: Do you have an out to Red-Eyes Dragoon? If you answered no to either of these, then choose a new deck
I got salad, shaddoll, synchro, herald, and dino. From those my heart is for synchro because 5D is great and junk speeder is better than needlefiber. and my favorite is herald because it's so unexpectedly viable especially if we get some OCG cards.
Another thing to consider for casual play when it comes to what decks other people are playing is matchups, especially if you play with the same group of people regularly. You want to make sure the decks you're playing with that group produce enjoyable matchups when playing against their decks, with gameplay that is not one-sided or uninteresting. For example, albeit a rather unorthodox one, my friend who plays extreme aggro decks like Cyber Dragon actually enjoys playing against more grindy stun-oriented decks like True Draco, Trickstar and Shaddoll as they provide a unique challenge for his decks to overcome.
I recently got back into the game and the first deck I picked up was Shaddolls. Theyre not to complicated and has come control stun elements which what i played alot before i stopped playing years ago. They're also splashable and can have other archtypes splashed with them, along with them being fairly cheap. But the real reason is because my waifu, Winda, is a boss monster. I'm very easily swayed.
Back when i use to play, that was six samurai. I loved that they benefitted from eachother and that some of them gain new effects when there was 2 others on the field. I also use to have a grave keepers deck because I thought it was silly fun, but that was 5 years ago. I still have the 2 decks from back then, but these days I just like keeping up with the tcg through looking at videos like yours, to see how the meta is these days. As far as playing tcg's go though, I play pokemon now, helps that I like collecting the cards. Also helps the boosters (and all products really) have code cards to redeem in the online app. So playing digitally while collecting physically. Kinda wish they would make a game like the old gbc pokemon card game or the old battle city yugioh game on the gba. Or the old MTG pc game back on DoS. The walk around on an adventure style game. And make a deck with a default the game gives you and then upgrade it with the packs you get ingame.
Whenever I select a deck to play, the first thing I do is set criteria for myself, based on what I find fun, then I select a deck that optimizes for that criteria. For myself, those criteria are 1. A deck that is not too combo focused, and not too stun focused 2. A deck that can go second and break boards/ bait out opponent's negate effects 3. Has versatility; does not do the same exact combo every single game The decks that best fit this for me are Mekk-Knights, Shadoll, and Dino
Honestly, I love those criteria as a Dino player. A base strategy so flexible it has the tools to fight anything in anyway (Combo with Synchro/TK, Aggro with Pure Go 2nd, Control with Paleo+Survival’s End, etc.)
That 3rd question is definitely pertinent in casual/local playing. A few years ago, a number of players at my locals were using the Dark Scorpion Burglar OTK, and it got kinda tedious to play against. To deal with this, I started teching Gentlemander (Lv 4 Reptile that can drop itself onto the field when your opponent attacks, and is the only monster they can attack, which thwarts the DSB strategy entirely). This eventually evolved into a Reptile/Heraldic Beast Rank 4 spam deck, which was my favorite deck for months even after the DSB decks dropped away.
I've been trying to upgrade the Invincible fortress structure deck as much as possible and after adding $200 to the deck.. it's still trash LOL But I have been able to clutch a few wins and the look on my opponents face when he loses to flippy rocks is priceless
Personally I love Combo decks (especially like World Chalice, Gouki and Fur Hire) because I feel these decks have multiple directions they can go into in order to have an out for something your opponent might be playing. I'm more of a casual player and theyre typically the cheapest
I picked it 1.5 years ago coming back from the game and i have a really good deck since then and in total maybe spent 200€. Only thing left is souls but that is Over my budget. Still enough to set up 20 negates tho 👊
Me, choosing a new deck: "Huh, these look pretty cool, and I like their synergy with their own gimmick." Yu-Gi-Oh-community: *BEST DECK TOTALLY BROKEN WITH THIS ONE UNRELATED CARD THAT DRAWS YOU 40 ALSO UR MOM GAY* Ban List: *Yeah buddy you can play the best card of your new deck only once, if any.*
How I found Madolches was basically seeing Magi and Pudding and that's it. Saw dessert waifus and knew it was for me. Made it even better once I realized how fun the deck is as well
Basically you want to use multiply to get a bunch of tokens to then use for link climbing into the rose garden combo to burn with earthbound immortal bird
Great video dude, I love it!! I've always hovered somewhere in between casual & competitive, because I enjoy competitive players & their environment, but I never choose decks depending on atmosphere. I've always chosen decks based on what I like playing & what speaks to me, I'm basically that guy that brings Exodia or whatever to locals knowing he's going to lose possibly every game. But I also tend to gain spectators because I play a lot of anime strategies. If you want friends, play anime decks & be an awesome dude all around. That's my advice anyway lmao.
I’ve played a bunch of decks since I’ve gotten back into this game and I definitely enjoy control or a mix of combo and control. In terms of my favorite decks for control: True Draco and Sky Striker. Combo being Orcust or Salamangreat (or rather a mix of the two). But there is something satisfying about playing a stun or control deck like Traptrix or Altergeist that makes me feel like I’m the one dictating the pace of the game and that my opponent has to find a way to stop me from snowballing my advantage.
I've been waiting for good Plant extradeck for long time, There are just snowflower and jasmine which can Do really good stuff. I like decks that have a focus on battling but have an aspect of control to them. Decks I play include Dinowrestlers, Salamangreat, Tindangle and Karakuri.
@@periklisperperis6868 I guess when games lasts so few turns, every deck is an aggro deck. And when there is no resource buildup, aggro is achieved through comboing summon effects
aggro is a bit different from combo, you don't really need to combo during 5 minutes to do OTK, ancient warrior is quite agressive and is in just a sligh way combo, but nothing compared to adamancipator, infernoble ect
I've been playing casually and at locals sometimes since the original starter decks were released. I currently have 16 decks built but I have the potential to make many more. Just because a deck isn't meta doesn't mean you can't have fun and win. A lot of structure decks are pretty good for casual play and it doesn't hurt to pick up 3 of your favorite and edit it with hand traps and counter play cards as you go. Knowledge will come with experience. Just my opinion for beginners.
If you want to play a certain Monster then you should look for ways to get it out as fast as possible but remember: If your Deck is a One-Trick-Pony then you might want to strengthen your defenses.
attacking hard with a combo deck. Solitaire and card effects like crazy in M1, then swing with a bunch of beaters in Battle. Can I get a more offensive Combo deck.
For me it was a friend handing over an old Dragon Type deck that I built and rebuilt with a good blend of various archetypes that created a really solid dragon engine. My only missing piece was good effect removal. If I wanted a monster gone, I had to beat it in battle because I’m poor and I only have one Burst Stream of destruction. Edit: I mean, I have Armed Dragon up to LV 7 but that doesn’t help against things like Lunalight
My current deck is Shaddoll-Invoked cuz the Shaddoll structure deck was the first thing I bought when I got back into YGO this year, and I will strive to make that thing competitive as best I can. I wasn't playing when they were meta, but damn are they a cool archetype with great card art and a lot of versatility. I also really like taking casual strategies and trying to find a way to make them competitive--Marincess is a good example. Like you said though, the first question I ask anyone I'm trying to get into the game is whether they want to play control or aggro/combo, and then we build from there. I think that's the most important, cuz there's no point playing a strategy you don't enjoy just cuz the cards look cool or the deck is powerful; there's no fun in that.
Not in my case, i like to play against mine decks with my control exodia volcanics. The problem is that often mine players ragequit when i make mine self destruct with obliterate or chain twister on field barrier to lock a new mine. Without forgetting people who declare exodia with prohibition... it just doesn't work.
You must put your heart and soul into your deck. Net decking gets you absolutely nowhere. How can you feel pride in something someone else built for you? It's your deck build it yourself
I remember when I started to get into Yugioh, I was watching the anime(I was 8 or 9 and I’m 15 now)but I didn’t know how to actually play but I would sometimes see people play and it was fun. Then when I was 11 I started to get some cards but I didn’t really play I just liked how the cards looked. Now I came back into Yugioh and started to play the mobile card game and now I’m confused af cause there is so many new cards and I can’t keep up but your videos really help me out and I might actually try to collect the cards again and play!!
When Cimoooo talks about aggro decks and reducing opponents life to 0 as fast as possible, first deck that popped into my head was dino. Called it! But thanks Cimoooo for i have chosen dino to be my deck, all thanks to u
You legit missed a whole group of people. The competively Causal people like myself. I love competition but I'm not some meta deck loving person. I play what I want and I maximize it to its fullest capabilites so that I can beat the top decks. It's why I side deck and find out where the holes are. Also you're okay with combo decks setting up 7 negates but you hate Stun decks? That's hypocrisy of the highest order lol
because there's actual work involved with putting up 7 negates. Its much easier to just play Inspector Boarder or Mystic Mine and that's why people hate these cards
First: you are casual, don't say Competitively Casual you're just serious about being casual. Second: combos are mildly difficult, have multiple steps and are easier to stop. Stun is I summon Torrent or i activated Mine. Those are entirely different
This is actually a perfect video to watch because i stopped playing on XYZs but i bought 2020 mega tins and might jump back in for casual fun with friends
Incredible Break Down Of Deck Choices & Gameplay Styles!!! I Feel Much More Secure On My Chosen Journey. I Just Wanna Defy All Odds & Create A Deck That Eternally Endures Both Short And Long Term & Can Execute All Levels Of Aggro, Combo, Control, & Stun Avenues. It Is Very Possible; And Being Able To Literally Maintain Control Of The Game Using Your Favorites Is Essential. Before I Get To Work On Any Other Deck, I Want My Main Deck (And All My Decks) To Be That Force With Which To Be Reckoned
I kinda am just gonna list some archetypes that i do like and my reason why Exodia: Big fan of just the instant win condition and exodia had always been one of my favorites. Cardians: I tend to be like joey and always like luck imo. Raidraptors: Just with using Rank-Up Magics and with it using one of my favorite summoning conditions which is xyz summoning. Psy-Frames: Tho people mainly hate this archetype and some love it, I just like the mechanic it does and I tend to like the control aspect. Adamicipator: Tho part of " T H E M E T A ", just excavating and the design honestly is really nice. Melffy: The deck is just so oofing cute and the mechanic as well is fun. Mathmech: I tend to do be good at math honestly and it just relates to me. F.A.: Big fan of the design and love that it has a instant win condition. Time Thief: The deck really seems to be control based and that you can potentially get key combo pieces with redoer is just fun. Dark Magician: I seem to like the spellcaster type a lot and just it basically being a control deck.
This is my advice to people who want to know how to improve on their decks. Look through that giant pile of random pulls and commons and see what there is. You might find some hidden gold in there. I found pretty nice tech cards for my Shaddoll deck from this, and although it sounds painful, it can work. Also, don't give up on a deck just because it looks bad at first. There is bound to be some cards out there that can make your decks much better. Some can't be helped, but some can. Just keep that in mind while deckbuilding.
I got back into the game in February (based on what has happened this year, that was a terrible idea in terms of timing lol)... But the first deck I build was Aromas. Back when I played as a youngster, I was always worried about my LP- paying LP, losing LP, battle damage, etc. So I found peace in Aromas, which what I considered to be the perfect deck for me. Then, I started Building decks based on the types of summoning. I'm a casual player so, I went a couple of "rogue" archetypes with Abyss Actors for Pendulum, Marincess for Link, and Cyber Angel for Ritual... At some point, I want to make a Speedroid deck for Synchro summoning, Madolche for XYZ, maybe Masked HERO for pseudo-Fusion, and D/D/D for a bit of everything. Wow, this comment got long lol
I have always played what ever deck I like. I enjoy learning new play styles my favorite deck is Blackwing I also enjoy Cyber Dragons, Elemental Heroes, Genex, generic Warriors, and generic Dragons.
I just build it around a card or cards i like. It wasn't competitive but I ran a Fire attribute backfire deck led by my Tyrant Dragon back in the day. Sprinkled with either Giant germ or nimble momonga to assist. Also had several 'Ordeal of the Traveler' it was a great removal like fairy box. Also having my opponent remove a high level attacker because he couldn't guess the 3rd card in my hand was such a crazy win. Also as a side note, I always thought Joey in the anime should have been more trap focused then chance focused. Would have made for some more clever turnarounds relying on strategy rather then luck.
At first when I returned to the game I just picked up Dark Magician again then I scoured the game for decks that looked cool and had a strategy and play style I enjoy.
When going into this, I literally said "I want a damage deck with ultimate conductor tyranno and dinosaurs". Your first example was literally Aggro and it had Ultimate Conductor Tyranno. Well, I at least now know what deck I want.
Shaddolls are a fun deck that can try to stun with Winda, but with the Unlimit of Construct and the release of Wendi, ariel, and cross-sheep, it can be a fun combo deck too
playing around people playing around your cards is probably the most fun way for me to play. I'd say test a bunch of decks out online and watch some other people play so you get a general idea and then go from there. Price point is probably going to be the main factor for most people though. The only downside to cheap decks is that konami likes to hit them if they become meta(like strikers)
Aaaahhh i remember it well. After years of random decks, it comes the choice. Dino or ancient gear. I choose dinos because i saw extreme potential on those new cards amd playstyle, also i was used to aggro types decks... and i love dinos😂
Unlocks Jack Atlas on Duel Links: "The lone wolf with blue eyes incinerates the heavens!""Show these lapdogs who bears the fangs! Synchro Summon!" To do list: Blonde helmet wig. Jack Atlas RP deck.

For myself, those criteria are
1. A deck that is not too combo focused, and not too stun focused
2. A deck that can go second and break boards/ bait out opponent's negate effects
3. Has versatility; does not do the same exact combo every single game
The decks that best fit this for me are Mekk-Knights, Shadoll, and Dino
Seems fair
So midrange, essentially.

I've been trying to upgrade the Invincible fortress structure deck as much as possible and after adding $200 to the deck.. it's still trash LOL
But I have been able to clutch a few wins and the look on my opponents face when he loses to flippy rocks is priceless
Fuck they gave the Simorgh structure deck support and retrains in Rising Rampage. WHERES OUR EXODD RETRAINS
I love this! I'd never thought of the idea of Combo and Stun being the extreme versions of Aggro and Control. Super solid content!
Gotta say, I appreciate that you chose a Goat list for your thumbnail. 👍

When you’ve been playing for years and you still watch these😂
I’ve played a bunch of decks since I’ve gotten back into this game and I definitely enjoy control or a mix of combo and control.

Just my opinion for beginners.

attacking hard with a combo deck.
Since lockdown I've been wanting to prepare for getting competitive and would like to start making a few combo decks but I have no idea where to start
You could start with D/D/D, they are a pretty old combo deck.
@king zaxa you sicken me. Don't infect this youngling with cancer.
@king zaxa oh, you mean every single meta deck currently existing?
Pick a card, Any card..

Also you're okay with combo decks setting up 7 negates but you hate Stun decks? That's hypocrisy of the highest order lol
I just find them both depressing. Mid range or control are the best imo. They actually reward skill in the grind game etc.
The second part: yes, because stun is not a combo ecc... Is just activation of a stun card and that's it
because there's actual work involved with putting up 7 negates. Its much easier to just play Inspector Boarder or Mystic Mine and that's why people hate these cards

Exodia: Big fan of just the instant win condition and exodia had always been one of my favorites.
Based on what you said its trains for me ... Lebe , true king of all calamities combo aggro is my go too ... Great video tho
I have always played what ever deck I like. I enjoy learning new play styles my favorite deck is Blackwing I also enjoy Cyber Dragons, Elemental Heroes, Genex, generic Warriors, and generic Dragons.
Dinos are the best 👌
Such a mature and educated view on the topic
When going into this, I literally said "I want a damage deck with ultimate conductor tyranno and dinosaurs". Your first example was literally Aggro and it had Ultimate Conductor Tyranno. Well, I at least now know what deck I want.
Every example you gave for stun cards spoke to me. Good to know, thnx!
