1) *Think card advantage.* 80-90% of your duels in a tournament are won just by having superior card advantage, I.E. a big board with lots of firepower and/or negates (depending on whether you go first or second), with a hand that can replenish it almost immediately in case said board gets broken. 2) *Know your win condition.* You gotta have an effective way to win games on a consistent basis or you won't get very far. For example, Altergeists and Strikers tend to focus on grinding resources, negating plays, and killing your opponent slowly, while Thunder Dragons carry some potent Fusions that can seal off your opponent's moves and also hit quite hard without needing to use a card like Borrelsword Dragon. 3) *Be ready for anything.* Your opponent just needs 1 card to completely take you by surprise, and that 1 card varies greatly depending on what you're running. It could be something completely random like Evenly Matched, Starlight Road, or Super Polymerization. Even a simple Cyber Dragon can ruin a well-crafted board, especially if you have something in the Extra Monster Zone. That's my 2 cents on the matter.
You reminded me how I won a game because my opponent ended with an Ally of Justice Catastor and Cyber Dragon back in the day. I simply went to my MP1, went to my Extra Deck, and slapped a Chimeratech Fortress Dragon on the field. My opponent asked, "Where is your Cyber Dragon?" and I silently pointed at his field. Easiest +2 (or really, +3) of my life.
Ba? Danger! ? Thounder Dragon? Cyber Dragon? Crusadia Guard Dragon? True Draco? Blue Eyes Guard Dragon? More pure Subterror? True King Dinos? There are plenty of decks that fit your disability and still are competitive

Play it in Sky Striker. Your opponent will think it's a widow anchor so they'll try their hardest to play around it and then once they build their board and attack with Borrelsword, bam you hit them with the first Magic Cylinder. Then when they attack again, bam you hit them with the second. Then when they attack with their last monster, bam you hit them with the third. Game 2, they'll be privvy to your Magic Cylinder strat so you side it out for 3 copies of Spellbinding Circle. They won't know what hit them.
well effect veiler has advantage over inperminance in some cases as well. its a spellcaster so it can counter secret village. its a tuner so it can be used for synchros. its level 1 you can summon it out of the deck with one for one. its a monster so you can set it to block an attack. you can activate 2 in one chain unlike inperminance since by having the first one you now control a card and cant activate the second one from the hand, etc.
when I play chain burn my cylinders get me lotsa wins. My dimensionnal walls too. It's so funny to watch them walk to their death while all you do is making them eat their attacks. I feel like there's a few cards that are banned or limited just because a combo out there is just broken but the card itself isn't as broken if it's played outside that combo
