Valheim - 60 second game review

- Valheim is a co-operative solo or multiplayer survival game set in a game world between real life and Valhalla.
You take control of your customized viking in 3rd person, and are required to explore, gather and build as you discover the world around you.
There are multiple biomes, resources and monsters to encounter, each harder than the last.
Progression in the game is gated behind killing bosses, each granting an item that will allow you to advance in the next biome.
Each action increase your skills, allowing you to do more each level.
The games style is open world free form allowing you to really play your way, but there is enough incentive to follow a logical path of progression.
Its a combination of the brutal difficulty of a dark souls game with the building mechanics from rust and the world generation and openness from Minecraft.
This game is the first of hopefully many from Iron Gate AB studios in Sweden, under coffee stain publishing.

Seriously yeah
After over 4 playtroughs i can only recommend this game

My sister and I just took a break from Minecraft. We achieved everything we wanted till now. We've been struggling to find another game we both enjoy. But I think this might just be it.
If you liked Minecraft, you'll love this. It's better with friends/family than solo; but still an amazing game. Enjoy!
@@CroneLife1 your reply sold me
One of the best games I've ever played. Did a solo run recently (only to mistlands as Ashland's wasn't out yet). Playing with friends is great, and it makes the boss fights a lot easier, but solo run is so much fun. 10/10 game.
Yes, i really prefer play alone, the imersion is better and challenger
this game is the greatest 20 bucks you can spend on a video game ever. challenging and immersive.and the devs just release updates. like for free. no micro transactions no subscription.
Finishing their unfinished game is in no way considered a mark of generosity.
But yeah Valheim is dope.
@@thisnameistaken pathetically it is nowadays
@@thisnameistaken it’s not only that they’re adding, the game could have easily been finished and worth playing to begin with because it’s magical, but name me early access games that live up to their expectations or who seem to at all care about their players other than minecraft, terraria, project zomboid are the only 3 i can think of
Love the game honestly probably top most fun games I’ve played with friends, just not a fan of not being able to tp with ingots
I've played with mods that let you teleport ores but I think it ruins the immersion, since you barely sail at that point.
400 hours in and still not bored theres just so much to build and explore.
I hit the 10k thumbs up..... Nice
... just broke 3k hours, send help
rofl Just over 4K here. Beyond help.

I love this game
this game it's so good.
saw the best dream in my life
Best game out there
I feel it laks villagers
Ever tried modded valheim?
only 2 years late
or 2 years too early
Gathering is the most boring process and require 50+% of all game play, however troll ana ant-soldier your best friends as the most powerful solution for gathering even without requied tools
It is always fun to use mine copper using the trolls. and agreed about the fathering portion of the game. best to recruit 4+ friends to help with it.
Imagine someone wanted to build a large city? Require shitloads of mat to do.. considering this as Minecraft world 😅🤷🏻♂️
What really sold it to me was the smoke mechanics
You have to have chimneys or you will smoke yourself to death
I was close to self termination lmfao am new and put a fireplace inside the hut... I laughed so hard
It’s physics and logic is extraordinary
It also has a mechanic, where the wood that is exposed to rain and weather, is slowely ageing and getting green/grey like real wood.
i died several times like this and i don't konw why back then.
Check out project zomboid if you like mechanics like that
i actually dont think i've ever played a game with such a streamlined and forced progression like Valheim while also keeping it consistent and fun over multiple playthroughs
I've been treating this game like minecraft, they give you so much freedom to build / destroy things with little to no restrictions, I love it.
Not me first playing this game, being in the bronze age and finding a plains biome that was a good time trying to get my body back for about four hours😂
Yeah bro right now I’m only in the Bronze Age and just got a bronze axe and I’m on day 56 I’m taking my time lol but I love it
@@-Xiona- haven’t played since me and my buddy failed to kill the queen been waiting for ashlands but I’ve been getting an itch and this made me wanna scratch it 😂
Don’t compare an amazing game to Minecraft ever again
But minecraft is also an amazing game... indisputably an amazing game
I love the game but it gets lonely on my solo playthrough. I genuinely think having a friend elevates the experience a lot
Hey bro, are you playing alone i need a freiend
It does elevate the experience alot but the extra grind for silver or iron is crazy. If you want to play with friends, I suggest only starting with 1
@@hilmirorn6763I dont think Iron or silver is that bad, they both mine decently quick and i need thousands of Iron anyway.
Food is the real challenge IMO.
@@Minifliek Yeah. I guess the grind isn’t as bad as I made it sound like but the food is indeed the biggest bottleneck. If you ever stop looking for food and run out, you’re screwed. That’s at least what happened to my previous world with a friend, we just ran out.
Do you have discord? @@Iamvengance191
Close to 1000th hour. Still lovin it. I mean LOVIN it.

I had no idea this was for console until this weekend. I’m about 10ish hours in. Blown away by it. This may actually delay me getting starfield! There’s just too much to do and see. I’m pissed I have to work, haven’t felt this way about a game in a while!
Not trashing on valheim. I love the art style and the soundtrack. I just never seemed to get into the game as much as other people. I only play solo as well so that might be the reason why
@@poooopman69 that's why I'm scared I'm a gamer but my friends don't want to buy this game together, i fear that i will buy this game and never play again (i did it already whit vrising and project zomboid)
@@poooopman69I first played it about a year ago. Put a few hours in and couldn’t get into it. Recently I decided to give it another shot. 30 hours in last 2 weeks should tell I am absolutely hooked.
I’ve logged over 500 hours into this game; love it to death! I mostly play it solo (and have played a single session in a group of 5, which was really fun), but I dream of playing it with nine other players one day.
Hello sir, can i play with you, i just bought valheim and strugling playing solo. Rage quit a few time and not coming back until now.
@@anjaspratama3342I can play with you. I started playing a month ago and I have around 130 hours logged in. My main account is almost done with Mistlands and I have another character where I play with some other friends. Only in the Black Forest atm. I wouldn’t stress too much about dying. It happens a lot when you go to new biomes. Maybe I’m just bad but as you progress you make up for the skill drain over time although it is annoying.
Great for solo. *Cries quietly*
Real *Cries loudly*
The 567 hours I've spent on the game 😬
Don't forget the building system is excellent and a lot of fun. What a good game. I forgot completely that it was early access.
The building mechanics are 👌 chef's kiss
I'm 2k hours in Valheim. Each playthrough is different due to the random seed generation. ❤😊
I love valheim so much but I hate it because it takes a shit ton of time and for a average working person it takes a lot of days/weeks to get something done.
There's mods that speed up the grinding process/increase inventory size for less traveling around or just make ores teleportable so you can get more of the building and fighting experience while still gathering your own materials!
I am on 1035 day, 560h, and i still love this game. I fell like im on it, the imerssion. Last game i had this felling was Skyrim. Valheim was a game that change everything about survivor.
It's a great game
It is, i enjoyed playing it a lot on release!
I want a game just like this but a little more centered in reality. Based in the Viking age like this but actually on earth. No magic or giant beasts. Just real life threats like raiding, war, even nature. You could start as a simple farmer or something and work your way up to becoming Earl. That's my dream video game
I just want more friends to play project zomboid with 😞 but I guess I’ll play this instead
I would not call valheim a survival game because you cant die if you do not have food and stuff like that.
It is more like a sandbox, exploration and progression type of game.
I would disagree with you here, unless you believe that minecraft was not always a survival game. Early minecraft didn’t have a hunger bar, and you only ate food to heal hearts you lost.
Doesnt matter if eating is required to not die or just to have more health, important is that there is requirement to eat.
Played for the first time this year with my friends and it’s easy my top 3 games love it so much lol
One of the most memorable games of the last 10 years easily
Valheim is the best Survival game out there! Insane that I didn’t hear about it before now

Rinse and repeat for every game in existence and you've just discovered the RUclips shorts free money exploit.
I bought the soundtrack off steam as soon as it was availiable. Sadly I dont own any of the new music. But worth supporting the game 😂
Will it come to Playstation?
"And is something you could easily sink hours into"
*sees im at 413 hours* yeah...totally not a problem at all...
So, with 3x(the max on console) resource increase, some duplication and dozens of hours just exploring areas with a guide map of sorts for the vendors and bosses. I've only killed two and I'm 65 hours in, can't properly progress without Bonemass boss and the wishbone. That's taken me 15 hours to prep for and find the needed items and craft/smelt the resources needed to beat the boss hopefully within 20 minutes. Easily 400+ hours can be sunk into this game and most of it is learn yourself as you go and you NEED TO EXPLORE BIOMES to do that and that's hours and hours alone just doing that. The game is great and enjoyable for a long many hundreds of hours. Hats of to the Devs and studio that made it.
I spent 30 minutes killing my first snow golem only to find out it drops stone and crystal and nothing else remotely interesting. The fight was brutal and not rewarding in the slightest. 10/10 would smash my head against a rock again.
have you guys tried MODDED Valheim?
my life (or lack thereof) has never been the same since.
will put you to sleep right before the ground starts to shake, watch out, a few bases lost....
the game is an absolute gem, i bought it when it came out, and didnt vibe with it, coming from day z and tarkov, thinking what is this minecraft ass looking shit. gave it another go like half a year ago, and discovering the game mechanics, as well as the huge world is just gorgeous. i was very wrong about that one.
lego fortnite better
When my brothers and I first played the game we ended up playing for 12 hours straight from morning to night
Why is grian reviewing valheim
One thing people shouldn’t get confused by is valheim is where you have to fight your enemy’s and if you kill then all your allowed a new life valhalla is literally just Vikings equal to heaven
You didn't Auswertung your starting question, you are a Bad, Bad Person and i want you to know that!
perfect music to fall asleep to... done that before just in time for my "the ground is shaking alarm" to go off
Best producer in the game is suzi beats
Games amazing untile you have to sit in a boat waiting for the wind to change directions
Why would you want a portal going to the plains? Why would you go to the plains?
It’s truly a hidden gem it’s like my favorite game almost
Minecraft and Dark Souls meet in Skyrim
after each death i always need to run a long way to get back my stuff😢
You need to build beds which are Ur spawn points
@@musicfromhenjo3692 But you are not carrying bed with you are you?
Only 9? Not even a 9.5 or 9.9? I’d give it a 10
I like the game but no one I know will play it with me
Does this Werbebriefe become a game where you have to farm materials like a machine, or is it enjoyable without the need to endlessly farm wood etc?
You have to farm a lot of everything, hunting for food, gathering wood and stone, ores for better equipment or killing enemies for materials for potions, you're farming something nonstop and I'm loving how diverse it is.
Highly recommend playing with friends this game can be incredibly frustrating starting out and when I played with a friend we had so many laughs every time we messed up it’s not just a game it’s a fun, creative, hilarious, and epic journey. Just have fun with it grab a friend and enjoy!
Try the modded servers. I suggest Valhalla, it will add another couple hundred hours to your game play. Definitely would suggest playing vanilla first though.
it's worth for me? i like the games like this but i don't have friends to play whit or they just leave after 30 hours.. they did that whit couple of games already... v rising and project zomboid.. don't get me wrong i like playing solo but its lonely after 50 hours ehh
The best game i have played. Almost 600 hours in, third play through and still not bored. Building, exploring, and progressing in the game is so awesome. I recommend 10/10
I love this game so much dude
This video is so uncanny, feels written by an AI or someone who never played the game.
I can confirm this statement, I am in fact an AI who has never played the game.

Great game
HOW THE HELL IS IT 1GB I SWEAR TO GOD
it was like 200mb on launch ;)
I am 250 hours in and still in Bronze Age and I love it!
Ah yes I love falling asleep to the elders boss music it's so peaceful
Earned yourself a sub with the dream text!!
Have a server wit ma dad n sister n all our friends on it the game is so addictive love the grinding and js the beautiful environment rlly a great survival game better then most imo
I would say THE best survival game period.
Wouldve been better if they stayed true to the more "Survival game aspects" but naaaah
“Gaming? A man of your talents”
Bro turn off camera shake plz!
It's a game for sadists. The biomes represent hard walls you have to get over. Depending on the random ore placements you may have to go to half a dozen swamps to find ore. Too much of a grind just to have a deathsquito kill you.
there's something about the graphics that keeps me from getting immersed in the game. my only complaint, if that's even considered one.
Who plays with the music on?
The music is the only thing I'm not enjoying so far
Good game but the graphics are horrible, but good graphics dont make a good game
So answer the question you asked?
I still need to finish the game first ;)
That's how you keep people's attention on shorts. Ask a question at the beginning that you never answer. Good way to waste viewers time and make sure they don't sub.
not very good after swamp, the grind takes over and nothing remains
Hard disagree but you're entitled to believe what you want, I'd say set yourself up properly as you get there and the grind is pretty minimal.
I disagree, after bonemass is when the game starts to pick up
@LeShawnDeWalrus the average playtime for the game is nearly 80 hours, one of the biggest memes in the community is the endless requirement for iron, what are you talking about?
@LeShawnDeWalrus iron comes in stacks of 30, you're saying you got 180 bits of scrap iron from a single crypt? at the absolute most you should get 2 stacks.
don't even get me started on padded, you need to wait the equivalent of 1 hour loading flax to get it to grow, not to mention that you need to do that multiple times to get enough for multiple sets.
and im guessing you haven't played the godawful update that was the mistlands? you need to find 9 sealbreaker fragments, which don't even have a guaranteed chance of spawning in an infested mine (which are one of the most rare types of dungeon) to even fight the final boss. when you do get to fight her she's scaled as badly as every other boss in the game. me and my friend spent literally over an hour fighting her.
awful, drawn out and redundant game, not to mention the myriad of other issues
300+ hours in and still only at iron, what a game man 🫠
I love this game too
it is not great solo
