Restoration of antique German watches from the 1950s

This video is about the restoration of old German clocks. I bought this watch at a flea market for $5. To restore them, I used sandblasting, powder painting, and made a new dial using a laser. The mechanism was washed in an ultrasonic bath.

My parents immigrated to Australia in 1960, and they had that exact alarm clock. My siblings and I would constantly mess around with it to make the alarm go off. What a blast from the past. Nice restoration.

Gute Arbeit! Ich bin sehr vom Gehäuse und Zifferblatt überzeugt! Hier eine kleine Ergänzung zu diesen Wecker:
Dieser Tolle Wecker ist aus den 1930er Jahren mit einen deutschen Junghans Uhrwerk verbaut.
Kleiner Tipp:
Bei der Reinigung der Uhrenteile sie müssen die 2 Zugfedern unbedingt von der Achse entfernen, sie müssen einfach die Zugfeder festhalten und das Aufzugsrad in die entgegengesetzte Richtung drehen Dann kann man die Federn besser reinigen.

That is a very small oscillation for that type of balance wheel. From what i can hear, it's not in beat either. Check it out.
Im intrigued as how you chromed the pieces and sprayed the case. Can you explain the process of the two please? Thanks.

Thanks for sharing this amusing restoration. I wonder how many hours, materials, etc you have used. Nowadays this type of piece does not attract the attention of the public considering mobile devices and so on which is a shame obviously...Last but not least I would like to make a final comment on accuracy of these alarm clocks: looking the heavy gears with no jewelled pivots, I guess that those who used these clocks a long time ago should have to adjust the time on a daily basis...!!!

You used a little bit too much oil for the mechanism, which runs the risk of it clogging up after a while of running, making it stop. Just something to keep in mind for next time, or anyone reading this wanting to restore a clock or watch, you only need a tiny dot of oil, and the smaller the piece, obviously the smaller the drop of oil. Clockwork is very finicky when it comes to too much or too little oil, where it seems fine at first, then its runtime starts fluctuating. I'd say working out the oil amount is the biggest thing when getting into clockwork restoration, as your brain tells you that more oil will make it run smoother, until the clockwork turns the oil into goop and the watch stops! Hope this helps anyone getting into clockwork restoration 😊

Oscilla poco. Devi verificare lo stato delle punte dell'asse del bilanciere (se serve vanno lucidate e rettificate) e lo stato di lucentezza dell'interno delle viti svasate. Inoltre le molle mi sembravano non più buone. Ottimo il consiglio di lubrificare meno. Per il resto hai fatto un lavoro favoloso. P.s. sono un orologiaio ;)

Прочитал реакции зрителей и понимая что смотрят люди не знакомые с часовым делом могу их понять . Действительно аккуратно пропескоструен и покрашен корпус , лазером вызжен новый цыферблат. И на этом всё хорошее кончается . Во первых будильник то не немецкий, а советский после военный . Выпускался сначала в Москве а потом в Орле завод *Янтарь*. Точно не скажу год выпуска , но только не в 50-х годах , а гораздо позже. В первых будильниках маятники были без камней в отличии от этого. Дальше , сам ремонт если не обращать внимание на теотральность жестов произведён очень плохо! Баланс не имеет нормального хода ( нет полного разворота) . Я подозреваю что одна из цапф согнута так как хорошо видно как танцует полотно баланса . Надо было отжечь цапфу , выровнять и отполировать . Проверить анкеную вилку (она может набивать и это тоже может быть причиной плохого хода). И последнее - много масла хорошо в каше ! Она от этого вкуснее становится ! А в часах наоборот - чем меньше и в нужном месте тем лучше ! Ибо масло высыхает е засоряется пылью и становится аброзивной кашей .
