The light class suddenly feels less stressful. I thought that if I don't get a ton of kills I am just dead weight. Thanks for showing how to be a better initiator!!!
I just had a game today where I was sniper light in the final round of world tour and got 2 kills. My team won still because I was able to mark targets with tracking darts which made the enemy team split off in random directions (for some reason) and they completely avoided long sight lines when going for the cash outs, we also made sure to deposit in areas with long sight lines. I also made sure to get the cash out first and deposit it so we always were defending. My presence was a big threat and that changed how the enemy team played the game to the benefit of my own team. Sometimes mind games are worth more than kills.
As a solo player who has started playing light in more that just quickplay this season, my loadout that I have eventually settled on is grapple/bow/frag/breach/thermal bore. Grapple has the obvious benefit of easy taps and plugs, but also makes you really good at grabbing statues and getting a rez off. I dont run gateway for several reasons. 1, random teammates rarely, if ever, use it. 2, with grapple and bow I dont want to be in super close range so offensive gateways loose value. 3, the strat of throwing nades through the portal can be replicated with thermal bore to open up nade angles. Thermal bore + breach lets me play wayy off site and either drop it or open up sightlines to chunk people with the bow. Between the ability to play offsite high grounds and grapple away you are often able to reset after your teammates die, grab the statues, and play for retake off of nade damage or an unexpected hole in the wall
I mainly use gateway for myself to play objective. Either to get the cashout in fast for the 3k bonus, or to get back to site fast and stop the stealer.
i've seen a couple of your videos and judging by the quality, the detailed and concise explanations, the way concepts are laid out so that idiots like me would comprehend as well, i always thought you were someone with hundreds of thousands of subscribers. it's a crime that this isn't as big as it should. thanks for the hard work and please keep it up! one request if i may, i'd like to see some more games that includes comms with teammates so we kinda have a more raw example of what top players are concerned about, what they focus on, etc. thank you
Im a light main and im good at it... its my best role. But in ranked I tend to shy away from it because people get real negative real quick when they see a light. Also having more than 1 light is rough and a lot of people seem to pick light and most of the time they do worse than I think i could have done. So I tend to just pick medium and sometimes heavy... But I def win the most as light... at least when my team doesnt throw because of me simply picking Light 😅
i'm a medium main in the finals but shit man i'm sorry people get pissed at lights but I feel them because lights that actually understand the role are really rare. its definitely way more difficult to play light than people realize so most heavy and medium mains become jaded towards lights in general. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt for a couple fights before I make my determination (on whether or not they're inting) because getting a good light on ur team genuinely makes the entire game so much easier. honestly bro, mute them and lock light and play ur game and prove with ur gameplay that you're not one of the lights that just feed constantly and get toxic.
@kartipee I 100% understand you as I end up playing medium most games and a lot of the lights I get just go in a 1v3 and die right away 😅 also I wouldnt mind trying that but the finals requires so much communication especially as a Light cause you should kind of be playing away from your team (never as far as most light players actually play). But yeah I used to solo Q a lot but now I wait to see if someone I know is online to play. Which doesnt happen that often so I just play on my alt account to play ranks with my gf. Currently plat 3 If I remember correctly

i intend to do one for every class during this season. got lots of other stuff being cooked up. I get so many video suggestions so i'm like fully loaded with videos in the works. I fully intend to be working no medium and heavy over the next few weeks with other stuff sprinkled in.
Great combat analysis. I solo queue ranked light bc i enjoy pain. Its also the only fun way to play the game to me. Right now, light on light crime is at an all time high in the finals. A cloaked m11 stun player can wildly alter the outcome of a fight and require very little skill to do so. That's why its like 90% pick rate (the gun, not light). This dumbs down the experience for everyone. Because of this meta, I think its necessary to run sonar grenades or thermal.
TheFinals RUclips started dropping reccomended builds eh- It'd be so rad if they'd hire Appoh to make these exact kinds of videos for their channel as part of the Embark team :o
If you can use the SH1900 with teammates with stuff like ARs, the chip damage and clean-up kills you can get is crazy. That with gateway is such a good class for a team comp for me
@ I use the dash with but grapple could be great too. Just being able to get in and out quickly is great, plus being able to juke them out with the dash is fun
Great video. Any suggestions for when you solo q ranked and your team picks 2 lights? Go light as well and just send it or stick with M or H and hope they're competent enough?
Something I learned after I spent some time trying to implement the suggestions mention in your meta video (with swaco, where heavy was a big topic) is that all of these playstyles that do well just depend on your team. Half of these clips where you do well or the strategies you mention, don't take into account the pressure good teammates put on the enemy team. Teammates that can STAY ALIVE 🙄 You mentioned how new light players commit to every fight and thats a mistake. Well, please tell that to the heavies and mediums that only know how to vanguard this game. Run in, blast away, die. Maybe a video about how to cycle in and out of engagements (or rather, how to know when you're outgunned/outpositioned), would do wonders for raising the average IQ of a non stack team 😭 And don't tell me to just squad with friends, I'm an introvert 😂
Thank you so much for this video I sent this to my light friend can we please get another video like this but for heavy? I’m a sledge cns main with movement/mobility knowledge and I can say confidently I’m Most likely to be the last alive and the one that clutches up on my team and I feel like that’s not right maybe? I’ve been grinding since season 1 to be a good heavy and I feel like something is missing the way I play is like a stealth support heavy where I would use my defense gadgets to cover my teammates and than flank so I can catch the enemy by surprise by either making a hole up top underneath or to the side I try to do as much destruction to whatever building were it because I feel like all the chaos happening makes a heavy invisible
one game I remember quite well was one where not even half way into the match I noticed my two light teammates were dead and not respawning, I checked the scoreboard and saw they both had 10+ deaths with no tokens left, I dont remember the exact time but this was barely past half way into quick cash, I was reviving them as much as I could but somehow didn't realize how often I was reviving instead of doing anything else, meanwhile 90% of my games I have the highest kills, assists and least deaths of the team and sometimes of the game, yet I'm simply not good enough to carry the immense deadweight that some lights (ironic considering the name) bring to the team some games make me question why some of these people dont just play cod as being dead for 90% of the game surely can't be fun even more so when they're usually unable to do anything useful since they're trying to 1v3 constantly
I feel your pain brother. Its just bad players in general, although people picking medium or heavy usually have an idea of what theyre doing. As a light myself, I rarely take fights that is unadventageous. I either go for loners with the zap and beam their head, poking and retreat when they turn their focus on me, or I play around my heavy and shoot anyone whos focusing on them. I try to stick with my team as much as possible and avoid just going in and die achieving nothing, although the same might not always apply to my teammates.
Please do a vid on heavy. Noobs like myself struggle really hard with being a team player as a heavy. It's probably why it's incredibly unpopular with new players. I struggle a ton with trying to be the frontline and staying in a fight for long, so i end up playing like a light anyway and not helping my team much
So it is clear you want this video to help set a type of "standard" for how light players should look to play. Like you say at the end of the video "If you ever see anyone playing light poorly, feel free to send them this video (22:02)" If that is the case, I feel like this video would have been more potent in a 10 minute format. As it stands, many of these points seem to have re-occurring redundancies, which results in me feeling like I get lost in word-salads. Imagine if I wanted someone to play better at light so I send them your video after a game. Sifting through 22 minutes of unfiltered information is a HARD ask and more importantly, that kind of length would make the information hard to absorb. I think this can be easily solved by indexing your instructions more frequently so that people can more easily navigate what you say. For instance, this video has an "informative" section at the start where you clarify a light's roles, an "example" section after that where you showcase your points with video references, and finally a "loadout" section where you offer tool recommendations to accomplish these goals. If you broke these things up (potentially by using youtube chapters) The information would be much easier to navigate and people could jump to sections they feel would help them most. However your video is still strong in its messaging that the light is not just a "dps" class as most think it to be. It is far more utilitarian in its strongest features by ensuring that objectives take priority and that combat flows more smoothly by focusing, and quickly dispatching, enemies that are out of position. Hope you make more in the future!

Other classes would give way more value in a support role doing the actions you described, id say the only useful thing mentioned was scanning with darts and that counts as scouting. since any other class would be better as support- there’s no reason to mention it, let alone suggest it to other people. The ones provided are the best way to get max value from the light class
@@fpsmars3681 Light on par with mediom at reviving imo, the insane mobility and ability to leave fights Whenever you want is super valuable at reviving dead teammates during hectic fights, you can basically guarantee a safe rev
@@fpsmars3681 Light has high mobility. It makes me able to retrieve teammate's statues no matter where are they and easly escape. I have 100 more revives than eliminations...
@@nintySW could never be the case, jumppad + defib is so overwhelming better that it doesn’t make sense to argue for something else. Anyone can do any job- some do jobs more naturally than others and should be used if your main goal is to maximize a specific playstyle
@@XLORDPROPL that’s fine, doing something doesn’t equate to being most efficient- and in this case, your stats only mean you’re normally alive and your team dies first. It doesn’t speak to light excelling at anything- defib + jumpad & Goo completely beats out anything you could think of with light. Light is meant to scout, poke, pull attention, confuse, confirm kills on compromised enemies. Anyone dedicated to playing support should run defib and jump pad because the value is so much stronger for *your whole team* -- the definition of support lol. You gotta think man
Do you still think that cloak is lights best spec? I find that the higher in elo I get the more suicidal getting up close as light feels, so that rules out dash and grapple still feels like a bit of a throw pick. Cloak just gives so much mid range strength and lets you always get the first shot off, I don’t see how the other specs can even come close in that aspect
I've been here since season 1, I'm level "68" with 546 wins, 8,163 kills, and 5,195 revives. I'm here to learn light class specifically so i can get my friend to stop ONLY using Daggers and Swords, lately it's only the dagger though 😢😭
So many light haters. I use grapple with tp to plug boxes for sweet 30% and help mybteam from unusual positions because grapple helps to relocate Dont hate us please
Everyone hates Lights, but everyone are playing lights. Everyone says that Heavy is overpowered, but only a few people who playing a lot as this class.
light as much as the online discourse love to dunk and stereotype it for all the cause of complaints in the game is all about good decision making. whatever bad ones you make it can get worse you really do all four roles mentioned in a game if you really think about regardless of specialization
@@demetrioshill8484 whatever you prefer. This isnt meant to be a "heres the meta" type of video, just something to explain the class but i do not want to limit creativity
@ I like sh1900 a lot. Especially because I personally feel like other classes now have ranged weapons that outcompete the lh1 1v1 (akimbo, pike, etc). Whereas close-range wise sh1900 is unparalleled.
How be good at light: Step 1: play literally any of the other two classes Step 2: kill any enemy light with ease cus light sucks Step 3: ??? Step 4: easy elo
My advice? Mix it up. Lots of noobs use cloak still, use thermal, it's honestly so underutilized it's not even funny and even with sniper, your accuracy will go up cause you'll see enemies quicker than something in the environment.
now I'm here waiting for those sore losers to say light is always and will never be otherwise. Light is not trash you're just not playing it right and I'm tired of pretending they're bad since I always get killed by them
just drop it . i use sniper. regarded the worst for competitive gameplay/ i use L in comp gameplay. i havent played much rank yet as just finished world tour and currently stand at rank 300+-, and last season in top 500 as well. my point is play u . dont listen to others. figure out what works for you.

You gotta think man
dont be a light thats the best way to
Do you still think that cloak is lights best spec? I find that the higher in elo I get the more suicidal getting up close as light feels, so that rules out dash and grapple still feels like a bit of a throw pick.
Cloak just gives so much mid range strength and lets you always get the first shot off, I don’t see how the other specs can even come close in that aspect
I like cloak and sh1900
I've been here since season 1, I'm level "68" with 546 wins, 8,163 kills, and 5,195 revives.
I'm here to learn light class specifically so i can get my friend to stop ONLY using Daggers and Swords, lately it's only the dagger though 😢😭
Step one: pick medium.
step two: pick light
You didn't mention the most important thing required to have good games. USE YOUR MIC!!
honestly true
Yo sword gang, we don’t need this we solo ez no dif
So many light haters. I use grapple with tp to plug boxes for sweet 30% and help mybteam from unusual positions because grapple helps to relocate
Dont hate us please
You're one of the good one
I've noticed alot of the info in the video goes out the windows when a sledge heavy waites at a door
sounds like someone doesn't know how to scout
@Appoh na im the heavy 💀
Everyone hates Lights, but everyone are playing lights. Everyone says that Heavy is overpowered, but only a few people who playing a lot as this class.
my light teammates will still be useless
Out of pure interest, what is your dpi+sens?
@@paze057 1600dpi, 15 in game
@@Appoh oh, thank you. we got the same sens then. your gameplay seems so fast with the M11 i thought its higher. :D
2:46 😳
light as much as the online discourse love to dunk and stereotype it for all the cause of complaints in the game is all about good decision making. whatever bad ones you make it can get worse
you really do all four roles mentioned in a game if you really think about regardless of specialization
Sh1900 or lh1? I play controller on console.
The m11 on lights enable Rat behavior and Camping @Appoh
Is the M26 preferred over the SH1900? 🤔
sorta preference but for me i m26 over sh1900
Using up all coins, wait what? Someone plz explain
How be good at light:
Step 1: play literally any of the other two classes
Step 2: kill any enemy light with ease cus light sucks
Step 3: ???
Step 4: easy elo
step 5: realize you're wrong since light is op when played right
@@Ovrhyt65 lol
M11 is the only main issue with this class and the cooldown of sonar… sonar is overly spammed so it needs the same cooldown as the smoke grenades
aint no way you're having a hard time against lights, ladybugs take longer to kill
How to improve my aim broo
i unno, im trash
My advice? Mix it up. Lots of noobs use cloak still, use thermal, it's honestly so underutilized it's not even funny and even with sniper, your accuracy will go up cause you'll see enemies quicker than something in the environment.
They need to nerf that broken ass dash honestly the entire light class needs reworked
Tip Nr 1... don't play lite on ranked or world tour... just don't... there a 3 good lites in game and it's not you with your snipers rifle 😄
Light players think they are rambo
sadly lights suck, they need buffs
now I'm here waiting for those sore losers to say light is always and will never be otherwise.
Please make linux version
I have a better idea make a tutorial how to not get depressed from the random light ind ranked who thinks hes doin the 5v1 and winning them
go medium
Please make a useful video 🙏🏻
first
The video should be five seconds long and just say "Don't pick light".
I dont mind good lights on my team one bit
How to be useful with light ….” Stay with team and dont use m11, and dont play like its cod”
you just suck at the game lil boy - a medium main
Useless class.
Me watching these knowing my sword with dash gonna get me going head first against 3 kill a medium, get heavy damage and then get cooked by charge & slam 😂
Light mains matter, Stop the hate! 😂
No seriously, Im kind of tired of seeing mediuns and heavys think they are better just for the class, but I clearly see a skill issue and toxic behavior.. nothing more, nothing less.
The game has 3 modes:
Light : Pro
Medium: Easy
Heavy: super easy
😂😂😂😂😂
Just have fun and play the game with love and respect 🫰
