I do love Sesto Bruscantini as Leporello. He is a wonderful baritone with a gorgeously well-toned voice, measured technique, and heaps of charisma. However, when he is paired with Nicolai Ghiaurov's virile Don Giovanni and Dimiter Petkov's equally virile Commendatore thanks to their basso voices, his baritone voice seems rather out of place between these two sacred giants. If I had it my way, I would have gladly casted Ezio Flagello as Leporello in order to stand alongside Ghiaurov and Petkov as another fine vocal giant, thus implementing Flagello's basso voice to match Ghiaurov's and Petkov's voices in a fantastic manner.
@@BaroneVitellioScarpia1 Yes! That would be epic! In fact, I think Nesterenko would have made for an equally virile Don Giovanni with Paul Plishka pairing nicely with him as his Leporello. If this were the case, who would you want to have as Masetto, Don Ottavio, Donna Anna, Donna Elvira, and Zerlina?
This is really good. Someone should write a sonata movement based on this.
I imagine the previous Notte e giorno faticar part must have been stellar in their interpretation.
Their Commendatore scene is also incredible.
This one is pretty great, but NOTHING compares to Giaiotti, Siepi, and Flagello in this scene
José Mardones;;;;;; Titta Ruffo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about Ghiaurov (DG)-Nesterenko (Leporello)-Talvela (Commendatore)?
