    I'm the one who submitted this doomstack (I did the Mannfred one in Warhammer 2). Here's some details.
    I chose Azazel because he was ticking many important boxes: spellcaster (even if a meh lore), high mobility (flying+speed), small entity size, bonus to physical resist, high AP damage, a passive debuff and a mortis engine effect. But I was surprised by how far I was able to boost him in this.
    The sword of Slaanesh was a (very) nice surprise, I had no idea you could get it from the Eye of Chaos dilemma. On top of the damage boost and ward save, it saved me from waiting (a very long time) for Gotrek to appear to become unbreakable. Before that, I was planning to use the Axe of Khorne that gives up to +25% base and AP damage (based on kills made).
    From there, it was a matter of optimising the trait cap so that I would have the absolute max of legendary traits (19 is the absolute cap, even if you're not yet at the total trait cap) and as little “garbage” ones as possible. I was only missing the protector one for extra melee defense. For the final legendary trait I chose Ghorst (poison attacks) over Valkia (melee attack and some AP) because I figured that I had already reached absurd melee potential and it was better to indirectly reduce the damage taken in melee.
    Something that Legend didn’t mention: I had chaos gifts giving Azazel further battle abilities (daemonette summons, which for some reason didn't appear here), siege attacker (but useless now with 2.1 patch), increased movement range and research boosting Azazel’s speed.
    As a full disclosure, I used a mod (for infinite movement, research rate, etc.) to be able to collect all lord traits, but I didn't use anything that adds skill points, modifies items, spawn items/followers or anything.
    This doomstack is purely theoritical and it would be pretty much impossible to reproduce in normal conditions. My objective is just to see how far you can push some high potential lords without the sword of Khaine. So yeah I used the infinite movement mod to avoid spending a year and a few thousands turn trying to reach that. Legend had mentioned in a past video that he didn't care if mods were used to make a doomstack as long as it's not adding skill points, items, etc.

    • @mepassistant
      @mepassistant 2 года назад +71

      @@DerRusher All traits were collected in-game, no editing of the game files or modding to add them. I actually had to have armies to protect some factions from extinction until I could "harvest" them. I was also testing around the trait cap both in general and for legendary traits. I made a list of top priority traits to get and then made some choices on what to boost at the end. I even had Azazel hide in some corner of the map so that he wouldn't get "garbage" traits passively. But yeah it's a super heavily manipulated build and impossible to do in real conditions.

    You can get up to 40 defeat traits, because that's the total number of trait-slots available to any character (a hard-coded number too, much sadness), but you are *never* going to get that many because the moment you start getting even the smallest amount of progress towards any non-defeat trait will make it start taking up a slot, even if it's a completely useless trait.
    'Tis why I play with the trait-manager mod, lets me remove the useless traits that my lords accidentally start progressing on.

      @@mepassistant 40 is literally the hardcoded trait limit (and defeat traits are considered no different than normal traits). But as OP was saying is that doing anything, literally attacking/defending/idling/ending turn nets you progress towards traits which counts towards the cap. Out of the 4 champions, Azazel is my favourite fighter
    He has that stomp landing attack that ensures he hits enemies properly and he frequently does that lunge attack in melee, which makes him quite slippery.
    Also has inherent Mortis Engine damage effect in his Serpentine Tail.
    Literally the only "bad" thing about him IMO is that he has Lore of Slaanesh.

    • @spookydan39
      @spookydan39 2 года назад +20

      Man, lore of Slaanesh isn't even bad.
      It may not be top tier, but what is these days? The three best in WH2 were fire, life and vampires IMO, and since burning head was nerfed (with flame storm the only good spell now I'd say), that leaves Life and Vampires. They are still good, in a way they're even better since healing got big buffs, but Life is only available on Order factions, and vampires is only on two factions. Got to make do when you're not playing them.
      Back to the lore of Slaanesh,
      Lash is good damage and comes out fast - also works well to break infantry lines for your chariots, it has a nice passive (considering your whole army is probably melee), Phantasmagoria on Azazel can help you break enemy units immediately and Slicing Shards is an okay bombardment spell for its cost.
      I'll admit that most of the spells are a bit overpriced, Pavane in particular, but Slaanesh isn't a caster-focused faction, it's a melee focused one with a heavy emphasis on speed and high damage and the lore reflects that nicely. Hell in a good 90% of battles you will literally never run out of winds despite the low efficiency if you're using it right.
      Anyway, at least its not the lore of Stealth - where despite being one of the worst lores in WH2 they still felt justified to nerf Black Whirlwind...for some reason.

    @Legendoftotalwar The person does have very, very little "filler traits" and this is how traits work: If you go into chaos territory, for example, you get the trait for that corruption as an invisible trait after 1 turn, then it starts counting until the trait actually shows up. Same is true for all traits that require you doing things multiple times or for multiple turns (like looter, lords over asur and so on). So you normally get lots of unfinished (and therefore hidden) "filler traits" wich block you from getting more legendary lord traits, but those traits can still be completed so you can still get those traits you already begun getting.
    A good way to make that visible is the "Cpecifics Trait Manager" Mod, where you can see those traits greyed out until you actually get them. (you dont actually need to use the mod to add traits to see this. In this mod, for example, you can always see the bretonnian vows as invisible traits (wich is how they work) wich means, bretonnian lords always have those trait slots blocked, and having a "cheesed lord" will block 4-5 of your trait slots. You can also simply create cheesed bretonnian Lords from the get-go.
    To understand how traits actually work i recommend having a look at this mod. It really brightens up how traits work and how to maximize them. The way to get a high number of defeat traits is to not do things that start traits from showing up (wich is, admitedly, not too easy to do). With this mod, you can actually get 40 Lord defeat traits without breaking the basic rules of the Game. Theres just on exception from this rules, and this is bretonnias Negative Chivalry traits wich WILL overwrite existing traits.
    So as you normally do multiple things, like beeing in march stance, looting, fighting different enemies and so on, you collect lots of unfinished traits wich count to your trait maximum and will not go away for new traits. This is why you sometimes can't get any more legendary lord defeat traits, but still get normal traits as you actually have them, they were just invisible until you completed their requirements.
    From a look to Azazels Trait List here, i suspect this is actually modded. Its really hard to get so many legendary lord defeat traits in a row without having filler traits in between. Either that or the person knew how traits work and prevented Azazel from doing anything that gives a hidden trait at all cost.
    cheers!

    • @mepassistant
      @mepassistant 2 года назад +7

      I indeed did all I could to prevent garbage trait to appear, even if I had no idea about the "hidden traits" system (although I guessed some elements of it from my tests). For instance I noticed that putting Azazel in encamp stance in "neutral" territory was not bringing any trait, so I camped him most of the time there, to remain far from cities or other stuff that could bring traits. Other thing I did was for as long as possible I would not fight the same race more than twice, because I figured that a third time might trigger the leadership trait, etc.
      I definitely reached the trait cap through the hidden traits, and from my new understanding of the trait system (thank you comments), I get that you could probably get beyond 19 defeat traits, although I think that would be extremely hard without using specific mods given the amount of care I already took to reach 19.
      All that to say that I didn't use a mod to add or remove traits.

    But the thing i like about Azazel is you don't actually need to stack all these defeat traits and sword of slannesh for him to quickly be able to sort of one man doom stack because of his mobility and animation. I personally like to give him a banner of swiftness, let my other lord use the slannesh blade and just cycle charge everything to death. He doesn't need to just stand there and get surrounded like typical 1 man lords.
    Also he actually have self heal on casting (5 wind whip or debuff are good) so he technically also doesn't need the regen crown and can heal pretty well with the demon chalice one time heal and has other buff when u need it. I've found that crown to be quite rare for some reason.

      He used infinite movement mod, he explained it in a post here up.
      I was thinking the same tbh, but if it’s purely “theoretical” then yeah, sure, why not.
      It does break a part of the charm to be honest, at least that how I see it.
      Even if, technically speaking, his Azazel is perfect, no debate on that… it’s just then it opens a dangerous window if the hard work is no more a requirement to be compared and exposed in doomstack videos imo.
      But hey, no critics on his Azazel, it’s worthy of a 10/10 ofc.

    • @mepassistant
      @mepassistant 2 года назад

      @@Kilen_BE The debate is fair, but Legend openly said that mods were ok for him as long as they don't add items/traits/whatever. As long as there is transparency and explanation on how you reach the doomstack (which I do, see comments above) I don't see an issue.
      That being said, I would agree that rating together theoritical/optimised doomstacks and those created "organically" is not necessarily fair. But then it's a matter for the audience to say what they prefer to watch : theoritical raw power or realistic ones.

    • @Kilen_BE
      @Kilen_BE 2 года назад +1

      @@mepassistant oh yeah, sure. Anyway if legend accepted it, it’s bc he thought it was ok. It’s just campaign movement range is such an essential factor in campaign (such more than HP or WS or adding traits artificially) that a mod making it limitless makes everything doable. Including collecting all useful traits, or go taking out Nakai and comeback on the other side of the map in 85 turns.
      For me, there is no difficulty involved and no limit as long as you are willing to spend the time for with infinite movement mod.
      But you won’t ever see that in fair conditions, and someone else presenting a doomstack worthy of 10/10 in an other video might be owned in the balance if he did all the efforts without cheat.
      Specially something such easy as infinite movement on the campaign map. Others mods or cheats have minor impact, that one, not so much… it’s a huge impact!
      But if legend accept it, fine, it’s his rules. I don’t mind frankly.
      It’s just my interest dropped drastically soon as I saw he used infinite movement mod.
      Which is pretty sad while all the video before that, it was amazing.
      That’s the problem with mods, and where to put the limit is also very debatable, which makes scores to compare them on the same base quite trivial soon as some have and others don’t.
      But I don’t really mind, the video was interesting, it’s just when I will later think to all one man doomstack on wh3 reaching 10/10, and compare their potential, Azazel here will be out of the list.
      But anyway, as long as the guy enjoyed doing it and legend accepted to showcase it, it’s all good. That’s what matters at the end.

      Having played Vilitch, I was surprised to find he also seems like a very strong combatant -- although it would take ages for him to deal with single entities. In the final battle of the CoC campaign, he literally did not take a single point of damage, despite tanking a good amount of units (including a Shaggoth and the final boss at the same time, along with Chosen), because he just regens his barrier too quickly if you boost it with Tech and the Gift of Tzeentch. He also gets surprisingly high MA and MD for a caster, even without defeat trait hunting.

    The reason why you were thinking you could only get 10 defeat traits is because the game only allows you to have up to 40 traits. HOWEVER, once you've started progress for a trait, even without it activating, the game considers that trait on your lord. If you use the trait manager mod, this becomes a lot more apparent.

    Even against demons I don't see him losing much. Tzeentch would be strongest against him, but azazel will also hit through a units barrier in a singular hit. Dueling a single entity like skarbrand however will be an absolute walk in the park, azazel getting 180+ melee attack against skarbrand (92% hit at 123md skarbrand) and with 112 md skarbrand needs at least 85ma to match the 8% to hit chance. Because Azazel is a flying character, characters like skarbrand don't get a charge, just about guaranteeing that units don't get their charge bonus.
    Assuming skarbrand takes 10 hits, azazel will on average receive less then 1 hit. He has enough power to duel skarbrand 10 times on just his healing alone.
    tzeentch is most dangerous because there's a lot of magical ranged damage in that faction. And even though it's counted as small, it's larger then most small entities.
    OKAY EDIT: I just saw he farmed some defeat traits to get 45% missile resist. Combined with the ward save, that means he gets 90% resisistance against tzeentch' missiled.
    That means that, in my opinion at least, he can deal with any army. 4 armies of just exalted bloodletters or bloodthirsters might become hard, but everything else he can beat no problem.
    20:08 excuse me? I also put in A LOT of effort into the teclis one. (I also put effort into the mazdamundi one, but there I used console commands for unlimited movement)
