  • The Long Trail is an episode of an almost forgotten anthology television series titled The Playhouse. This episode is from 1954. Starring Anthony Quinn, Robert Armstrong and Maxine Cooper. Anthony Quinn starred in some of the great classic western movies including Last Train from Gun Hill, Warlock and Man from Del Rio. This is a great half hour television episode with a bit of drama and romance. In this episode Clay Waldon is a Texas Ranger who has been on the trail of a fugitive for many months and has now tracked him to Oregon. After so long on the trail it should be easy to take this man back for trial but there are several obstacles Clay must overcome. This is episode 23 of The Forsaken Westerns, an original TV series produced by Westerns On The Web Productions. The Forsaken Westerns series contains episodes of TV shows that were never broadcast or have not been broadcast in as many as 65 years. Almost lost forever, these rare television film treasures are now being released and uploaded. The series launched March 1 of 2017 from the www.westernsontheweb.com archive collection. This series is hosted by Bob Terry. Watch full length western movies and TV shows full episodes on the Westerns On The Web channel and make sure to subscribe.

I tried most of the way through to figure out how real justice could be served and at the same time the dignity of the Ranger and the Texas Ranger service. Excellent story, both ends accomplished.

Another good one..thank you..! I must say that I have not been a real big fan of Quinn over the years and I cannot say exactly why, either, but I was elated to see him play this part so believably well. Well done, Mr. Quinn ( even though it's over 1/2 Century later..LOL..!)

This was an episode shown live of Schlitz Playhouse and not a filmed or taped episode. Since this is the case I wonder whether you have an episode of Kraft Theatre entitled One Hill one river shown in 1955. it takes place at the end of the civil war and is this a western of sorts.

Paladin jumped around the West in no time, but these guys are taking 6 months to get from Texas to Oregon. I wonder how long it did take. Pretty hard to believe this plot. Zorba makes a pretty good cowboy. I wonder if he got killed in the War...

It's 1861. Pre-Civil War. No railroads yet. Paladin came 20 years later, after the railroads got there

Almost 2000 miles from Texas to near Portland Oregon by horseback, camping along the way, I don't think so. And then let's say he did a quick turnaround and took the prisoner back to Texas using the same horse .... ridiculous.

the tobacco in these westerns must be as dry as a bone, they just shake them out. hardly a good smoke, hot bits dropping into your lap, and hot smoke at the back of your mouth
