  • Does every day feel sort of like the next? Does every day have the same special moments until... none of them are special? Do you feel like there's a better way?
    There is a better way. The world wants to flatten out your week until it's just "blah"-and "we were made for so much more than 'blah.'"
    Today, Fr. Mark-Mary has a tried-and-true plan (it's worked for the friars for a long time!) to add rich meaning to every single day and bring a rhythm to your week that draws your heart and mind up to God.

    Pray for me. Both of my sons are autistic it’s overwhelming at times because they require so much from me. As a single mother things are difficult. I keep faith in God even as I struggle to support them. I keep faith as I struggle to pay rent, and as I struggle to buy groceries for my sons. Every month is a battle. I want to give up yet God gives me strength. Strength to go on. Strength to share my testimony. No matter our struggles God will never leave our side.

      My grandson is autistic and my daughter is a single mom. I can’t imagine how you could handle your two boys without the grace of God. He is with you, dearest. Hold His hand or feel His hand upon your shoulder. I will pray for strength and comfort for you and good health and joy for your boys. I also pray that worry is lifted and your finances improve.

      I can only imagine the stressful life you lead. May I suggest you NEED some alone time every week. Check with your Diocese as many have “respite nights” where adult and teens volunteer one on one in group setting to help your special needs child/adult have a fun evening and the caregiver some respite.

    Thank you Father Mark-Mary for this! It’s been about a year since I started fasting every Friday, not just during lent season, well fasting from meats! And it has just been a blessing! Every time I want to give in, I think about the sacrifice Jesus Christ did for us in that cross, and I tell myself that I can handle the simple sacrifice of not eating that steak, or burger! During lent season, I just added smaller meals, as a small contribution to this special season! Honestly, it makes my Fridays extra special, I feel I communicate more with God throughout the day! Next lent season, I will expand my fasting! Blessings everyone!

      Saturday is ordinary day. But it is our Lady's day, so you can experience lent with Her.

    I've started setting a noon timer to remind me to stop what I'm doing and reflect on Jesus in my life. Something one can do daily to change the way we experience our life.

    In my later years, I have developed unsolvable health issues, but I've come to try and really know and live my Catholic faith. I returned to not eating meat on Fridays like in my childhood days, occasionally fast or leave out the very limited comfort foods I can have, and pray more, offering up my cross in union with Christ's passion, for others, especially in this day and age where there is a lot of need to pray for lost souls. I never thought of treating feast days as a special day, but I really like this idea. Thank you Fr. Mark-Mary!

    Thanks, Father! Very informative. Can you also make a video on the dos and don’ts of fasting? Like are we allowed to skip a fast if it falls on a friday but a Feast Day of the Blessed Mother or some Saints? I started fasting only last year and I’m struggling a little bit with it.

    Unfortunately, unless it is in the traditional Latin Mass, the average parish has very little changing from day to day in terms of liturgical celebrations. Feast days are seldom mentioned or poorly so. Alleluia buried? Not in regular parish.
    So, how do we anchor our lives without that unity between our daily lives and the liturgical cycle?

    • @mariac4602
      @mariac4602 4 месяца назад +1

      Maybe gently suggest the idea of making feast days more visible to your pastor? You don't have to attend a TLM to celebrate faithfully and reverently. Our new pastor just reintroduced Candlemas to our parish. It was beautiful. Sometimes change just requires a little gentleness in making the suggestion, along with offering to help out- and not demanding, but asking. Gentle persistence, like water on a stone, can smooth rough and flinty exteriors. Pray, my brothers and sisters, and be living witnesses of Christ's love and mercy. Before the day of judgement comes the day of mercy.

    I didn't understand a single thing this video is talking about. Is he talking about Church rules? Or is this for lay people? Everything seems to be about eating. How does this avoid people from feeling "blah" at the end of the day? I've fasted for years and haven't seen any difference at all.

    • @madridinbedrock
      @madridinbedrock 4 месяца назад +1

      He’s talking about variety in our spiritual lives. Fasting is not possible for everyone but everyone can fast or abstain from a personal pleasure and offer it to God. If all we ever do is feast (consume) life can get pretty blah, also, and we tend to forget the goodness that is God.

    God wants us back (John 16:28):
    Jesus came out from God the Father and returns back to him (John 16:28). However, most do not know that *ALL* of us have come out from God. Satan, who also was created by God, chose to war against God and wanted to take His place. Now that Satan is on the earth, he is out to destroy those of God out of pure hatred, jealousy, anger, bitterness, etc. God has warned us of the devil’s wiles, saying “Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time” (Revelation 12:12).
    Satan knows we originated from God and that God loves us. But those who love Satan and continue to willfully sin will never be with God again.
