    Apparently i missed a bonus track called OUT OF MY HEAD. So i checked it out. Don't hate it. I like the overall vibe of the song like the bass and drums but i hate the guitar sound and weird effects. Solid chorus. Would've been a welcomed addition over some of the junk they kept on the album

    Pretty spot on review imo. The album lacked fun songs that Blink is known for. One of the best tracks from the Nine sessions was a Japanese exclusive called “Out of My Head”. I felt it contained more of that Blink energy that this album desperately needed.

    No heart to speak of is still the only skiba Era track I jam to. I subscribed to your patreon to hear your opinion on this song and I'm so glad you felt like this was a good song, in my opinion it feels like what blink should of capitalized on with him being in the band.

      What? The majority of the album is pretty solid. California was hot flaming garbage. Its like Mark didn't let Matt sing or write anything and got pop producers to put synth over everything. Nine feels like Matt actually had to some say. Even if a song as a whole wasn't great Matts verses and choruses are the best parts of most of them, like heaven or hungover you. His writing is a stark contrast of marks on the nose Dr Seuss lyrics. It has some of my favorite recent blink songs even over OMT. That album disappointed me worse than Nine. Pin the grenade or the first time or black rain, so much legit Matt that you're not gonna hear from Alkaline or the sekrets

    I still can't believe there were "fans" that actually felt Blink was better off with Matt and without Tom. There are some of these songs that are good, some of which i listened to and still do but only if they are just Mark vocals... Simply put, Mark and Travis worried more about keeping Blink going than finding a good replacement or going on another hiatus... Facts are, Blink is NOT Blink without Tom, not the music, not the live performances, not the overall feel of the band... I'm happy Tom is back and this band can be great again.. I'm a big fan of AVA and Boxcar; they are great bands because Tom is a great musician and it shows.. Mark's +44 was okay but basically a Blink without Tom again...

    My opinion on this album without going into too much detail, I think this album is the better of the two Skiba era albums, but I agree with you, it’s not brilliant.
    My favourites - Happy Days, Run Away, Pin the Grenade, No Heart to Speak of, On Some Emo Shit and Remember to Forget Me
    Least favourites- Blame it on my Youth, I really wish I hated you and hungover you
    But even most of the best ones don’t have a massive replay factors.

    I actually enjoy this album.
    My main problem with it is there isn't anything on it that screams "AMAZING"
    Even on California part 1 despite liking it less than Nine, Left alone I think is a KILLER song.
    On most blink albums with Tom though Id give a lot of the songs a 9/10, usually 8 at the lowest with maybe one 7/10.
    This album though is FULL of 7/10 tracks for me.
    I like them but don't love them.
    My favorites on the album are actually Hungover you and First Time, Out of my head is good too.

    I’ll be honest. California really liked me. I think it was a fresh record. They brought back the Pop punk of the late 90s and mixed it with the Alternative rock sound of those days. But, with NINE for me was like a the second record of Plus-44. It didn’t sound like Blink. Very strange and lazy record.

    I can understand why people didn't like this album. It didn't feel likev traditional blink. It wasn't fun and all that. This is one of my favorite and top 3 albums from them. Maybe it's because I'm older and NINE came out at the lowest point in my life and I related to all of the songs. Maybe I'm not hard to please. Basically I personally loved this album and liked it better than California, for the Skiba era. There's nothing wrong with a change in style but I i will also say that I really liked Tom back in the band and their album One more time.

    I wonder if Jerry Finn could have made a banger out of this line up if he would still be alive.
    When this came out, i had people saying "this gives me untitled vibes"
    That actually pissed me off.😂
    And it would surprise me if Matt had any saying in the writing process at all. That whole period made it very clear (both in interviews as on the songs) that they had no real interest in actually working with Matts talents.
    The only song off those two albums that gave me true blink vibes was "home is such a lonely place"

  • @dylanburton4955
    @dylanburton4955 2 месяца назад +1

    While it’s not my fave I did think this was a huge improvement over California simply because it took more risks and didn’t play it as safe and while I think Matt was still underutilised, this album did make a better use of him then the last one
    And lyrically it felt a lot better and more authentic as opposed to California songs which felt very half arsed and clearly something that was done quickly (Which made sense cuz Feldmann often pushed Mark to write lyrics quickly and immediately record vocals which was never a good idea cuz what makes Mark so great is his lyrics and his best ones are the ones he takes the time to write)
    Still think Blame it on my Youth is their worst song yet and just has such a generic and boring chorus but I do like songs such as Hungover You, The First Time, Darkside, Generational Divide, (Although I’m not a fan of how loud Matt’s vocal is and the effect on his voice), Happy Days, No Heart To Speak Of. I don’t mind Heaven either
    Definitely prefer One More Time though, that’s the blink I wanted and it brought a nice balance between their older style and still pushing things forward (Hit a nice balance between the more serious moments and the songs that don’t take things too seriously) and it’s like a big soup of everything they’ve done and celebrating their entire career, plus the dynamic between Mark and Tom will always be an absolute highlight of blink and I’m glad Matt gets to put his full focus into Alkaline Trio now

  • @KennedyIvy
    @KennedyIvy 2 месяца назад +8

    Definitely a low point of blink. I really cringe at all the songs being about highschool and girls when youre pushing 50 and have been married for decades.
    Also vocals/instruments are super compressed which makes it lose all energy/realness. Also vocals sound autotuned.
    Overall the sad downtrend of blink. 2/10.

  • @KahnuevsKrake

    I think it was better than California, which felt like it was trying to emulate classic Blink without Tom. In Nine, it felt like Matt had settled in at that point and the band was going in a new direction, incorporating his style. I liked I Really Wish I Hated You, Black Rain and The First Time, but as a whole it barely resembled the Blink I fell in love with.

    Not knowing how long it would be until Tom inevitably rejoined, I thought Nine showed promise of where they were heading next in the Skiba era. Blink has always been stronger when they move away from what’s comfortable/tried and true. One More Time feels like California Redux feat. Tom (massively better, but more “hey look, we can still be nostalgic!”). Hoping for some of the stronger Nine vibes on their next album.
