It's always fun to see people that grew up watching Nardwuar getting interviewed by him now. There's always such an appreciative vibe to those interviews.
I met Jack antonoff briefly when steel train toured with Ben folds. He was very kind to my teenage self. I did not know who he was back then (this was 2008?) and I ended up getting into Fun. The following year and was like "that dude looks wildly familiar". This guy has his hands in a lot.
yeah and his beginnings is crazy to me. i remember him being in the pop punk/emo scene but after watching this, it didn't really hit me until now. i'm glad nardwuar was able to pick his brain a bit bc i feel like there's so much more
Jack slayed this interview. I was waiting for him to mention like Midtown or The Movielife or even Glassjaw. This guy fucks. My fav Nard interview of all time
6:32 Nice that he keeps giving shout outs to Lifetime to this day. He uses a sample of Turnpike Gates on the Chinatown video, and shouted ''Where are the Saturday's best dancers?'' on the Bleachers set at Coachella.
The mind boggleth: I interviewed Fun back in 2012 when they were touring and had a gig in Helsinki Finland. Jack didn't talk much, but whenever the topic came close to marginal music or things not related to Fun his eyes seemed to light up. Those topics: smoking pot and Paul's Boutique. What an amazingly nice dude he was. I couldn't have guessed it at the time that I was having a casual chat with somebody that would produce such small names as Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey (and about a hundred other superstars) within the next ten years (and counting). And btw, the new album by The Bleachers is frigging great!
There was a viral post on twitter the other day that had a chart on how likely any detective was likely to solve the Kira case from Death Note, and Nardwuar was up there at #2 behind Columbo
@@shiftyslc I mean I'm not a swiftie (Lana isn't my thing either) but there's something to be said for his connection to so many objectively successful pop artists. I love his collaborations with Lorde and CRJ personally.
Didn’t know anything about Jack though now I know, he’s someone who gets it. If you’re from Jersey or Long Island, you’re a lucky person. The post hardcore late 90s early 2000s scene is an integral part of music history. So many bands. I hope people who watched this video knew what he was talking about. Best music era ever. Period.
It’s like nardwuar talking to himself
Nailed it
Don't understand this comment. They're nothing alike
@@WallaceScores more the enthusiasm and vernacular….
They seem like two guys that would actually be friends outside of the interview.
Was just thinking they’re kindred spirits
i like how jack antonoff deadass thinks nardwuar has spies on him tracking his conversations at one point.
That part is so fucking funny. Naurdwar moles are everywhere
I love how he keeps the same intro to this day, same shitty quality. he just gets it. it's perfect
It’s so charming lol, shows how long he’s been in the game
Im a new viewer but I've seen nard around, the Intro is like a tone setter, a shitty intro is a welcoming mat
@@Sean_Jaggers agreed
It’s him, anything else wouldn’t be him
@@antlerbraum2881 also keeps the reminder of where it began the nostalgia it keeps it humble if uk what i mean. just charming

Jack won me over with the pizza gate moment 😭🤣🤣
Nardwuar: Pizza! 🤠
Jack: …Gate. 🤨

Rap, rock, pop, indie. He’s like Pharrell at times.

I love watching two musical nerds chatting it up. It’s a beautiful sight
Loves seeing a father and son have such great chemistry
Two icons appreciating eachother in the most wholesome way possible. This is amazing:)
If not the best, one of. This is real Nardwuar shit. Great match, and more people should watch it

Jack Antonoff casually dropping The Aquabats into the conversation 🤯
Ya that’s pretty fire and then he’s mentioning Lifetime. That’s real shit
The misses about Jersey stuff were funny. Especially the Taylor Ham thing.
I never heard of this guy and now I feel like I have to watch every video
very cool nardwuar got to reunite with his long lost brother
Tom Waits is one of the greatest artists of all time
Alright it's my time to do a sell investigation on Nardwuar. I literally just was that years old when I found him in a video short. I'm obsessed.
Jack with the casual Earth Crisis and 25 Ta Life reference. Aight Jackie Boy I see you.
Top notch from nardwuar as usual!
Love this interview, two people passionate about their craft
We are one step closer to Nardwuar VS Taylor Swift
Hell yeah I love Jack Noff
Jack Antonoff loves music
PLEASE DO CHAPPEL ROAN NEXT 🙏🏽
Nardwuars sheer determination motivates me to this day
Gaddamn it…Nardwuar is making me like someone whose music I don’t care for again …
loving the aquabats name drops
God I loved this!! Haha, such a trip hearing all those bands too wow
Jack is an amazing human and has been instrumental in pop music for many years.
Interesting guy!, great interview
Jack was the reason I bought a telecaster because of steel train.
It's crazy that Nardwuar is close to his 50s, if not already in his 50s, and is still this energetic. That's wild.
This is an instant classic
6:16 in la
The Nard-hut, where the magic happens.
The most down to earth dude mr nardy serviette has ever interviewed
Jack was such a great guest
I don’t know who Ant is but he must be having a great time right now
Boysetsfire, At the drive-in, Get up kids mentioned 🙏🙏
I'm getting big "Where's Wally?" vibes on this one.
This video has made me respect Jack Antonoff. What a lad.

I believe the Aquabats show was at the Mt Tabor United Methodist Church on 03/12/1998 w/ Travis Barker

they talk about it in the interview!

Wait, I just watched 20 minutes of this thinking Nardwuar was interviewing Albert Hammond Jr.
Can we get some At the Drive In influences on the next TSwift record Jack?
