The first time I heard this wonderful song was in 1996, in an equally wonderful French film : "Un Air De Famille". Since then, I can listen to it on repeat with the same emotion....

My 10 year old daughter logically listens to the contemporary talents that she likes such as Taylor, Olivia, Ed, Dua, Ariana, etc. But I am so glad she has the open mind to enjoy the ones from my time. So much so that she performed People Have the Power this past weekend at the Church : Untitled in downtown Vancouver, Canada. My daughter had auditioned for the event playing her drum arrangement of the song. She was selected, but for technical reasons she ended up playing a piano arrangement that she created nine days before the performance. Thank you Patti for such a timeless song and for inspiring my daughter.

Other female performers are pale in comparison to Patti Smith who is more than an entertainer. She is a brilliant songwriter and singer, her songs always have meaning and substance and in many ways she is the represents the embodiment of an absolute activist who stands for peoples freedom and equality in all it's aspects. In a word she is the best!

I think I was the only one listening to Patti Smith when I was in the 6th and 7th grade! I still follow her. The weirdest thing is that I took care of her mother as a nurse. Her mother was so proud of her and I nearly died when she told me who her daughter was. I think her "screw what other people think" attitude made a huge impact on my life! Love you and always will Patti Smith.

No others came close with their interpretations of this song. Patti sings pure passion. Goosebumps and perspiration every time. U2 and Eagles of Death Metal came close, but that was just because of the historic entourage.

I like this song very much! It is such an inspirational song for the world! I really loved that U2 played it on the tour in 2015 together with Patti. I have seen some of those live performances on youtube and it was such a powerfull message the send in to the world! That really resonated with me!
I also really the voice of Patti. I feel really connected with life when I listen to Patti and her voice give me a lot of positive emotions, like joy, meaning, flow, optimism, grattitude, and inspiration.
