as someone who boxes your analogy is pretty spot on, you can drill till you drop but until you actually experience what it's like in a similar scenario you're holding yourself back
Boxer here. Perfect comparison there many guys who get into boxing and want to learn all the things. They get the movement and then go wear out a heavy bag or speed bag (in your video). The bags are good, but they are half the diet you know the right movement but you don't know how to apply that technique when the conditions aren't perfect, static, predictable... The bag won't teach you how to react, the bag won't teach you how to return fire, the bag won't teach you how to move into or out of a shot... The bag is good to supplement with the rest of the game, but if you make your living off the bag then you're starving your potential. Spot on example.
Heyo I'm a masters level lucio player and I've noticed that people dont really understand how his movements actually work. I think that would be a good guide to do
Really good guide man. I have heard of most of these concepts but some of them were explained and expounded upon. I have a lot of bad habits to break and this will hopefully help
Aim is something you think of with an fps but overwatch in itself is not a traditional fps and unless you play aim intensive heroes like mcree and widow i guess this helps but you do not need good aim to be good at the game.
Thank you very much for this video. After level 250, I started losing way too often. Way too often that it legit got me worried about what was wrong. I see it's high time I started trying hard.
trigger discipline! yes! before overwatch, I've only played single player FPS and i've never held down the trigger to shoot, I always burst. But for some reason in overwatch I've developed holding down the trigger for spray and hope, I'm trying to mentally get back to my burst trigger and I'm steadily getting better at doing damage.
Another thing people should note is that high sens vs low sens is about comfort and how good you are at hitting shots with that sens. I use 1200 dpi but a lower then average sens in game, and I can feel my tiny movements make an impact. I also came over form being a sniper main in TF2, and found the closest sens possible to my source engine sens. I'm a wrist movements aiming kinda guy, shoulder hurts when I aim using my whole arm due to injuries, so higher dpi but lower sens lets me feel comfortable. I may go down to 1k dpi later and just shift my sens up a small bit to get a better, less shakey movement.
Trigger discipline is important for projectile heroes like genji and pharah too, as it it can be easy to miss shots or get less value from them (e.g. only 1-2 shuriken, pharah rocket only had splash dmg) not simply due to your aim, but due to your timing of the shot. It's better to fire at the moment you feel sure it will hit. You will end up dealing more dmg overall as well as building your ult faster.
I think the most important stuff. Is gear. A good mouse like g502 with control mousepad is all you need try using 125 polling rate is help allot. When i started to play ow i had a really bad mouse when i switched to g402 it helped allot with the aim and tracking im playing mccree.
Is it worth going for a whole new sens? I play on a very high sens (3100/4.8)and my aim isnt that great but i play a lot of genji and my 180 and stuff are rly good at this point... idk is it worth going for a more usual sens like most pros use?
It's definitely fine to stick on a high sense while the choice is all yours. I originally use 800x6.34 but got muscle pain from that, and switched to 400x23 and stuck to that. My aim still feels the same tho
To be fair, a low sens, like 800x6 does help one to learn how to aim (crosshair positioning, point of focus, the feel of flicking and tracking etc) but after you have learnt that, it'll just be the same for any sens you use
Figure out your bad habits when it comes to aiming. How you even grip the mouse. I use to do 1 finger m1 and 1 finger m2. It felt like i couldnt find a mouse that fit my hand, so I started using 2 fingers for m2. My aim improved so much just because of that.
thanks! i can finally aim with: Moira, Winston, Mercy while using her staff, Rein’s hammer, Soldier’s Tac visor, BOB, torb turret i can even aim with brig :D
@@gurimisenpai2358 Kind of a moot point with the enforced 2/2/2 and role queue, which I'm actually quite happy for. If I want to play a DPS character now I actually can without screwing over my team... anymore than having a dps player that can't aim for crap.
The guide is really good.. but not everybody plays on pc like myself, i play on ps4 so how can practice aiming if i dont have the the aiming training program you showed in the video besides playing regular training??

He said there is no point in trying to go for the head if you can't hit, so start out aiming for the body and when you feel comfortable there then you can move up.
As a Mercy main, I play with Glide enabled 99% of game time, so when I jump, the arc is not EXACTLY what Widow/Ashe/Any Hitscan expects and gives me a tiny edge. Which is all I need. 🤟🙂🤟
Ngl a lot of this I used when I dumped 300 hours into TF2 10 years ago, but somehow forgot movement is half the input when it comes to aiming. I suppose characters like sombra (being anywhere) and widow (shooting anywhere) have made me too paranoid to get comfortable with moving being anything other than DoDgE!
Another thing is to get a high refresh rate monitors. All pro players have 240hz monitor. Get at least a 144hz monitor, the difference between a 60 and a 144 is night and day, it will drastically improve your aim.

But my aim got realy bad after, i went from 45% accuracy as mccree or tracer to like 19%-25%, the feel i had was my bullets were hitting ghosts, the solution i used was raise the sensitivity a lot Almost 1/3 from my original. The good news is that i hit shots, bad news is that i need to overshoot them a lot, at 3:00 i see you shoot predicting their movements, that seems correct although when i play i need to land shots so far away from the body to acctualy hit them, some times i get headshot while i aiming at other targets like i flik at this hammond and i land a shot on a lucio 5 meters away Is it possibile that an high ping makes me seeing the players in positions that are not anymore there for the servers? Or is just my immagination
Great video but missing out on THE most important tips! REDUCE INPUT LAG watch videos on overwatch INPUT LAG extremely important!! 8:10 That's redundant, since velocity includes direction. You could have said "same speed and same direction," or just "same velocity" to not be redundant to the pedantic like me.
I think an important tip is that you don't have to be an aim god to play Overwatch. Recognize if you excel at heroes like Tracer, McCree, and Soldier THEN practice these aiming tips. If you do not there are plenty of other heroes with different play styles that will enable you to help your team. If you play competitively, play heroes which allow you to have the most impact and don't obsess about heroes you cannot (and probably shouldn't) play. If you are an amazing Lucio, be an amazing Lucio. If your Rein is is carry-city, play Rein. Don't force yourself to play certain heroes because your team and SR will suffer.
Problem for me is when I focus I cramp my hand and lift up my mouse. Also when my sens is too low I can't turn fast enough. When my sens is too high, I miss shots and my cramp problem makes me miss more shots. There is no sens that allows me to turn fast enough with comfortable arm movements while still being able to aim accurately.
One of my biggest problems is that i don't stop jumping and that messes my aim, literally, it's like natural, i see and enemy and i instantly start to jump constantly without stopping, is there some way that i could stop doing this?
Bind jump to B so that you can still use it if you need to, but less easy to spam than space bar. Jumping also makes you easier to hit (locked animations).
