personally if i hated my life in the amish community and i hated the people in it, i wouldn't want to be buried or associated with them. obviously the way that the shunned dead get treated is absolutely horrible, yet it's almost comforting to know that eli's father and the other man's final resting place is removed from the rest of the dead in the cemetery. it makes people remember who they were and why they did what they did, which honestly could inspire more people to reflect of the amish community and why it would lead someone to taking their life. idk if this makes sense and this is just my opinion
Just a genuine question, do all devoted Christians believe this too according to bibles etc? Because I heard that, the acceptance is only present among modern mindsets.

I grew up with Amish people. The women are mistreated. I once knew a woman who had the longest hair I had ever seen, I told her how amazing I thought it was and she told me how she wasn’t allowed to cut it or she would be punished. I saw Amish people differently. But there were so many amazing Amish people, the Amish kids I used to play with were some of the nicest I’ve ever met.
Eli’s story about his father made me cry. It really is sad that he had to go through that, along with his father. I hope that things can change because they shouldn’t be shunned because of suicide and they should be buried with everyone else since they are still people 😔
It's so upsetting to hear so many stories about loved ones having to live up to certain expectations, and then get ostracised later on when they don't conform to those standards. These stories are often forgotten, and it's important our generation learns about them. I had heard about the Amish community ages ago, but have forgotten ever since. These small details shape the next generation, and we must learn from these mistakes.
I cried so hard about his dad. I can just feel the emotion he felt thinking about the torture him and his dad went through just to show respect to his community.
Eli’s story is so sad and shows the abuse that can be hidden in such a closed environment. That being said, it sounds like he grew up in pretty strict Amish community. I was Amish for 16 years of my life and my experiences were mostly all good and healthy. The Amish culture is so nuanced and each church has slightly different rules, so it is very hard to lump them all together. Most Amish people live in a healthy loving environment, and that’s why we don’t see hundreds leaving the church daily.
is it just me or is ben's videos starting to get emotional and scary. Like the story about Eli's dad was really sad and when you went to jail it was just scary seeing how those prisoners were killed.

This is one of the saddest things I've ever heard especially when they talked about his dad
I love these longer documentary type videos, keep up the amazing work! ❤
i recently went to pennsylvania, where the amish community is very active, and it seemed so nice and simple from the outside. i never would have guessed that the amish had all these deep dark secrets. also, i was sick as a dog before watching this video and now i feel so much better. thx Ben 💚💚
There’s underground Amish boxing rings in lanc 😂
0:20 what little tiny cute creature was that 😭🥹

HE FINALLY LIVED HIS DREAM OF BEING AMISH WE’VE COME SO FAR
the part about eli’s dad made me sob im so glad he’s doing better
ben is sometimes normal crazy, but then sometimes he’s actually insane to do the unthinkable
this is so sad I feel so bad for Eli
:( hopefully he’s living better now 🩷🫶
The part where Eli was talking abt his dad got me teary eyed- :(
My my😢 ben does so much for us .......and Ben we are indeed satisfied. it's a good day when Ben uploads ❤luv u Ben keep up the good work😊❤
Seeing Eli being recognised by the Amish positively made me smile lol
I grew up in an Amish community so I kinda though everyone knew about them. This changed my life! I thought all of this was obvious!
benjamin of the week
my step dad grew up amish and things were so fucked growing up thankfully him and his siblings got out when he was 18 most his family is still amaish tho and things are crazy
Eli sounds like such a nice and genuine person. The bit about his dad was so sad but it was so brave of him to share it on the internet. props to every amish person who gave ben some insight into the community
i live a few hours away from amish country. my moms cousins grew up in amish country. (she’s not amish, she just lived around amish country) she grew up and hung it with some amish kids. she always said they were just like regular kids. they played ball and goofed around just like her. i still have family who live in amish country, family who i visit yearly. whenever i go up there, it’s always an interesting experience! i have met a lot of very nice people! (and seen some questionable things, like a few kids smoking 💀)
i love how ben was just so respectful of everyone :)
There is an Amish community not too far in my state MO. Bowling Green. It's so interesting to see the horses parked at Dollar General. The part about Eli's dad got me though. Lost my father a couple years back to fentanyl. I'm glad it seems like Eli is ok.
When he talked about his
dad :( 16:08
14:37 my entire heart goes out to eli and his father
its the "aight get out." for me
“What’s your horses name!? 😁” “mack. 😒”
I live in ohio and I have visited Amish country many of times. They are so welcoming and friendly to each visited and also answer many questions you will have. Highly reccomend.
The lady vibing to “I wanna farm your land”
jokes aside this shines a light on other people’s groups and beliefs. thank you ben for being very understanding and patient! love you ben funny and sympathetic is a good combo
