I think it's funny you said they're trying to age him up with the facial hair which is true! But he's actually 29 in real life so it's like, this is what 29 looks like for him. 😭
cindy, sophia, AND rebecca?? im feasting today thank you 🙏🙏
and now ash just posted too we’re so fed

OMG a Sophia Phan fan let’s goo
I liked the movie. It kinda felt like one of these typical 90s romcoms back in the day. Like it's nothing extraordinary but nice for a rewatch (and I mean Anne and Nicholas ❤).
I only watched the movie, so I only knew about the 15 year age gap and I really didn't understand all the hate about it 😅 maybe it's cause Im used to it. Like my stepdad is 13 years younger than my mom and a friend of mine has a stepdad that's 17 years younger. And both these couples have been happily married for 20+ years. So much happier than before. So the age gap wasn't something I thought about until these rude comments in the film appeared and I just thought they were overreacting 🙈
Also the music! Been listening to that soundtrack for a month now. Cause Closer and Dance Before We Walk already came out a while ago.
You clearly didn’t watch 90s comedies..
@@VictorLugosi I did a lot.
@camilaniram of course. it's a simple romance with nothing much to think about. meaning no complicated plot or cinematography. easy to rewatch when you are just in the mood for some chemistry. that's the vibe 90s romcoms had for me.
having watched the movie before reading the book I definitely prefer the movie, i think Solene & Hayes' relationship in the book was too toxic and volatile and was driven more by lust than love, it's no wonder they could not make their relationship work in the book. But I feel in the movie their relationship is less toxic and more healthy and wholesome and genuine & organic, and more convincing, I can believe that they truly do love each other and be able to make their relationship work in the movie. It's obvious they love each other so much & were so miserable without each other, after everything they've been through they deserve their happy ending and I'm glad they reunited 5 years later. The fact that Hayes is older in the movie also helps, it makes their age gap less awkward and more acceptable. I also prefer all the characters in the movie more, they made Solene, Hayes and Izzy more likable and I like that Izzy is not a brat and was alot more supportive of their relationship than in the book. And of course the chemistry between Anne and Nick is great, I think they really made this movie watchable & enjoyable for most people. I like all the changes they made in the movie, IMO the movie is an improvement from the book.
Girl 40 is SO young! I'm always so shocked when people are like she looks so good for her age... like what?? She just looks good, period. 40 is extremely young, people live 90 years no problem these day... she literally has her whole life in front of her. Also, they are both full grown ups.
I don't agree they are missing the mark about the older woman dating a younger guy. This is exactly how it is. 15 years is not such a huge difference, and the examples you are mentioning about guys who are criticized for dating younger women are all MUCH bigger age gaps... Like dating 25, 30 years younger women. If a man is dating a girl 15 years younger, it's not considered a big thing at all. 10-15 years is quite accepted actually.
Right?! Gaps matter when you're very young, but people do barely bad and I want a man dates. A younger woman. My parents had a 14-year age Gap.
In truth, a woman's sex drive ramps up between 30 & 40. So......dating a younger man would work out perfectly. 🤷♀️
i love the movie, the chemistry between Nick and Anne really sold the love and their emotional maturity solidified it. Although, i think this movie giving more like Priyanka and Nick Jonas 🤣
I read the book and enjoyed it, but I resented being taken on this wild, fantastic, wonderful ride with the two of them and then being shoved in front of a bus by the last two sentences.
I love the movie. I'm a fan of both the leads, and I think they did an excellent job with a wonderful story. Don't know anything about Styles, so I don't buy all the fanfic nonsense (repeated ad nauseum online) about the book. As an author myself, I respect that Robinne Lee wrote a novel saying something real and deep about our society and how women are treated in it, not a fanfic.
"Coachella" was shot in a field in Georgia with 500 extras, though the stage and lighting rig were real.
Lastly, the shifting colors as they kiss goodbye are meant to mirror the painting, where she feels everything. That scene does me in every time I watch the movie.
Yeah, I had the exact same issue with the book. Don't market something as romance and then not deliver a hea / hfn.
This is why i am so happy the movie delivers a better ending. I hated the book ending
The books trash. I hate how they completely overlooked the fact that Hayes was SA'd by Oliver's older sister but nobody said anything. Solene didn't tell him hey maybe you need therapy and not another predatory relationship. Dude wasn't even old enough to drink! She has no business being with him!
The movie itself was kinda like good meh, something I'd watch if I don't want to use my brain, but the ending had me tearing up idk 😭😭😭
You use “meh” as a word, you’ve never used your brain..
@@VictorLugosi So harsh and mean for no reason at all.
I think it's because the characters didn't have a meaningful relationship, we only saw the physical stuff, but Anne and Nicholas are just good actors that we feel the emotion they're trying to convey
Like you said, Nick and Anne made this an actually watchable and likeable movie. I was guilty of not reading any description or watching any trailers before clicking watch, I just saw it had Anne and couldn't remember the last time I'd watched a movie with her in it and was a bit thrown by everything lol 😂
Closer and Dance Before We Walk has no business being so catchy
28:00 I literally said the same thing, like age gap is always frowned upon in the modern era, both men and women flak for it. A reason of why it could "seem" more pronounced against women at times, is because its rarer(unless you count female teachers and students), because women have always married slightly older men even if just by 1 or 2 year gap.
But as the reactor said, it's equally frowned upon by young people. Older people, older people with money, potential customers and her social circle, are like Daniel and his wife, so no. It's not the same. She's not thinking about what teenagers think or post as much as her peers, those who write the headlines, who buy her art, who actually make a difference in her life, and just like in the example of Di Caprio, nobody in his life think it's embarrassing he only fucks young models. Scorsese is not passing him up because of it.
Coachella sequence was filmed in Atlanta (as was the entire movie in Georgia). At 3am with about 500 extras for the concert
I have nothing against the book and absolutely love the movie also what's wrong with huge age gaps am I the only one who ain't bothered
not giving hate just asking a simple question i'm really sorry if it seems like i'm giving you hate for your opinion i'm not trying to do that at all I'm just having a hard time understand what's so bad about age gap relationships I guess i'm not as upset by it cause age gaps run in my family my grandma and grandpa had a 13 year age gap and my sister and her husband have a 7-8 year one I guess I don't see much harm in it
They filmed the Coachella scenes in Georgia I believe
I think the thing with the age gaps comes from when they're like in different stages at their life, like for example at your 20s you're barely an adult discovering all of this stuff and yourself when at 40 you're at a whole different stage because of work, your social relationships, in this case having a daughter sooo yeah Id say is more about that part
The issue here is that the inspiration was 16/17 yo Harry Styles with 30-something year old Caroline Flack. No one would really care if the younger one was already 30 themselves
Same I only thought about it when it came up in the film. I'm also used to it from real life 😅
Sure sometimes people are at different stages at a curtain age and it doesn't fit. Doesn't mean it's the same for everyone.
(I mean personally I also find it odd when it's like a 30 or 40 year difference. But anything under 20 years seems fine to me. As long as people are happy 🤷🏼♀️)
@@tokkina6611 Exactly thank you and if the people in these age gaps are happy we should leave them alone it's their life not ours
The book scenario seem to be a bit weirder and more delicate (between 20 and 24 there's a world of self-realization). I haven't read it so I can't talk.
But in the movie especifically, nothing wrong. The age gap is not problematic. First, he's not a normal young adult. He says he auditioned for the band at 14, so he's been working for 10 years. He already isnt the normality for teenage years and young adulthood. He's financially independent and actually richer than her, he's probably a lot more socially experienced, including casual romantic relationships, bc I have no idea if she dated much before her ex, but considering she got pregnant at 21-22, I don't think so). He's also the one pursuing her. And for her, this is a "person" thing and not a rule. She doesn't date him because he's younger and that's her type, she feels attracted to him and later falls for him. She actually dates him >despite< his age, which seemed to be a problem for her for quite a while and she's never dismissive of that fact, she's aware of how it could be perceived as problematic.
But it's not. They meet when he's a full-blown adult who has travelled the world and been independent (financially, emotionally, etc) since a young age, and clearly makes his own decisions and is not easily manipulated. He has to deal with the media, with public scrutiny, with fans. This sort of life either makes you mature real fast, or makes you a complete asshole disconnected from reality. In the movie, it's the first option. And, they're not in different phases of life necessarily. She has done the entire "typical heternormative life", was married, raised a kid, etc. But she's still young with a life in front of her. And he has also found extreme success in his life, but professionally. They could clash, but then it becomes thing of context. Each case is a case. But as far as age only, they're both adults. Period. For instance, if his dream is to have kids, maybe she's not the one for him, because I doubt she'd want another kid (although, I could be wrong). But if they both want a stable relationship, to be in love and together, they're not that unmatched. The age is literally just a number here, bc there are no power dynamics at play once you disregard his fame and the lack of privacy it provides (which has nothing to do with their ages).
I loved your reaction Rebecca! Also, I don't know if you heard but we're getting a Red, White and Royal Blue sequel. So excited!
p.s. I need to know where you got this special edition of Twilight that you have on your shelf. It's gorgeous! 😍
i got it from an artist on insta @kadivideo but ive been growing concerned that they are semi running a scam (allegedly)
@@rxbeccarose omg hahaha... thanks Rebecca! I'll proceed with caution.
Hilarious watching you react to everything as if you didn’t read the book🤣 I didn’t read it so I’m assuming a lot of the details were just not there? Idk
THE CHEMISTRY
Had this movie on my watch list for a bit, so I'll swing back after I watch this for my self
i watched the movie last week and loved it! Anne and Nick have so much chemistry, it’s insane 🥰🥰
PRETTY LITTLE LIARS: SUMMER SCHOOL SEASON 2 IS OUT!!!!
Good movie! I enjoyed! ❤
Crazy chemistry and amazing soundtrack 👏His vocals are so good
The Idea of You is so cliche but in the best possible way!!
There has been a shortage of good romance movies lately and this is a solid entry.
This Nicholas Galitzine lad is really hot tho🥵He does have impeccable charisma
Such a fun review, thank you so much!
Are you gonna do a reaction video for episode 2 for arcane 😭😭😭
I actually like him better with the facial hair
Still haven't watched this but your reaction is making me want to watch
I don't know why people are so what about the age gap idk.... for me it's okay
I thought this was a styles fanfic …it was never britpicked over in all that time? looking forward to watching this only through yt videos tearing it apart 😂😂
Yeah the age gap was a bit weird, but seeing now that he 29 almost 30 I Can get with it.... Again if it wasn't for Ann and him in this role we definitely wouldn't like this movie.
Aslooooooo, the first time they kissed I felt I shouldn't have been in the room (sexiest kiss ever)
It’s so funny to see the contact between Rebecca and Dylan is in trouble 😭
1🎉❤
Have u seen the movie turtles all the way down i saw it on ur bookshelf
all the songs have been stuck in my head
❤you are such a cutie critic…
i didn't watch the movie but here i am
Much better than the book.
Really disappointed in your takes! comparing the Aaron Taylor Johnson situation, when he was barely 18 when persued by a much older woman and has had his career controlled by her, to a consenting 24 yo successful man dating another older adult is absolutely not okay and frankly shows a real lack of understanding of why some age gaps are okay and some aren't. When talking about legal adults it's the imbalance of power that's the issue and not just the number of years.
Yes but my point of view is more from the book and him being 20 and her being 40. Also the fact that I was talking about dynamics between older women and younger men. That was the first one that came to mind. Apologies for any offence caused :/
if i had a nickel for every time nicholas galatzine played a role based loosely (or not-so loosely) off a famous person named harry, id have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice
nick is 29 irl
Izzy just said to “drop me off at dads” because she knew it would hurt her mom. BRAT😢
People who like this movie should probably leave Leo alone ha
9:23-9:26 ikr, it’s so beautiful 🥰🥰
Oh my god we GET IT you don’t like the age gap, if you watched titanic imagine if you spent the two hours screeching about how you’re not a shipwreck fan
It's her channel she can complain that the sky is blue, it's her choice
@@Keke.the-otter and I can call it annoying
If Solene loved Hayes, she would have fought for their love to win….
Fought against what? Her daughter's mental health? This is why she doesn't even bother answering him, the fact that you can't come up with the obvious answer is proof there's no equality, and it's so tiring (and unsexy) to have to explain these, for women her and my age, very basic obvious things. So for me, as someone who has dated younger, it's very telling they don't show them talking very much, because after a while, it gets awkward when the other person is not your equal and you have to explain life to them. It made me really understand that men do like dating younger because they don't want an equal, they want someone they can mold and teach how to be.
❤fought to just be a couple no matter what. They could show Izzy not to runaway from lifes difficulties. But they chose to separate instead. They were lucky to be able to get together again (5) yrs later because thatʻs a challenge for sure.
