Yes, thank you. I was the Brooklyn high school cross country record holder way back when. That distinction and the cost of a token, at that time, would get me on the subway! :)
I am interested in competing in cross country events and would also love to try a marathon. If you would have any advice on how to get started and possibly join some kind of club or running group/organization l would appreciate it very much! I thank yuo once again!

@@vincentdesiano4861 I've done 8 marathons so far and, BQ'd in 2019. I would say to get a good running coach. That has helped me tremendously over the years. Training for a marathon usually takes 16 weeks and, ALOT can happen in that time. A coach can adjust your training based on your progression and, also prevent you from overtraining and undertraining., The biggest thing about marathon training is to prevent injury. A good coach can help! Good luck, my friend!

Maybe one episode or video you can do is on longevity. Pick some runners-recreational, sub-elite, elite-who have run for a very long time, say, 10yrs +, and ask them tips on how they’ve managed to run so long. Thinking about how to do this sustainably could be a great topic

Molly is friggin' epic!! I've been running and in the sport since 1977, and she's by far one of the coolest people I've seen in running. There have been faster woman marathoners, but few I'd love to have a beer with...Molly is on my short list.🥳 She's real, genuine, and funny...and she runs turkey trots in a turkey suit. Ya can't top that!

Loved this interview. Especially refreshing knowing that a top athlete doesn't follow a strict diet, but knows how to eat healthy by paying attention to cues from her body (while also allowing herself simple indulgences here and there!) And as a coach I like hearing what her non-negotiable workouts are!

Running totally calms my brain too. I don't have any ADHD diagnosis, but I definitely feel the effects of running on my brain. It's like meditation for me. Molly's DNF at Boston helped me make a wise decision around my own DNF recently. It saved me from doing something stupid that would have made my injury worse and possibly long term damage. I need to try some Puma shoes.

On that last question, should you train in your race shoes, she's a (deserving) sponsored athlete. At $200 a pair, I'll save my carbon plates for the race and maybe a few training runs to test and run in something a lot more affordable the rest of the time.

Bit stunned you started with food and questions about “treats” and “cheat days”etc. Molly has been pretty upfront about her disordered eating in college. Asking female runners about food is sensitive as a lot have had real struggles in this area of their life.

This is a really important point and thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. I was lucky enough to have a bit of time to chat to Molly ahead of the filmed interview and took that opportunity to run her through the questions that had been sent in to make sure she was comfortable with the various topics. We get asked a lot about nutrition for marathon running and her answer about cheat days and achieving an overall balance is a really important message. If you have any other concerns or questions in the future, please do get in touch. Thanks, Andy

I think it's more that she is known to have issues in this area. Ie if you were talking to an amazing musician with known drug problems starting by talking about rehab instead of their music or achievements is sort of weird starting point . It should be framed sensitively for the interviewee and the viewers benefit. Not totally of the table but not 1st thing

Join a club, they might help out with sub-slush fund. Where I used to live, an ex pro had a gym that was open, free, to runners that could hit certain times (ie competitive). Many clubs will help out with low income runners, maybe shoes but if not training, coaching, race entry/ travel. There has to be an exchange- something for the club of you are a hobby jogger and not close to a podium finish you may need to think of another strategy
