I have a 2008 X3 3.0SI with the N52 with 107,000 miles on it. Shortly after purchasing it I got those two codes. After searching everyone said it was the vanos solenoids. So I replaced both of those with OEM parts. A week later the codes came back. I bought another vanos solenoid thinking maybe I got 2 bad ones. I replaced just one of them. The codes came back shortly after and it again was both intake and exhaust at the same time. I took a shot in the dark and replaced the vanos check valves, the codes still came back. Then I replaced the camshaft position sensors thinking maybe they were just broken. The codes still came back. When the codes do come back it is usually just after startup and I can feel the engine surge a bit, and then it throws the codes. Curiously every single time it throws the codes it is both intake and exhaust at the same time. I think it might be the vanos actuator motor? To summarize I've replaced: Both vanos solenoids Both camshaft position sensors Both Vanos check valves Either way I want to stop throwing parts at it in hopes it will fix the problem. Any idea. I took the solenoid out, unfortunately I cannot put it back in. It seemed like that the rubber is too large to be inserted into the hole. I've already tried to use some lubricant, but that does not help. Anyone know how to deal with this? Thanks.
You can use a rubber hammer and carefully hit the solenoid with short and small hits. this happens also when you replace the rubber seals, it is difficult to put in back the solenoid...

To summarize I've replaced:
Both vanos solenoids
Both camshaft position sensors
Both Vanos check valves
Either way I want to stop throwing parts at it in hopes it will fix the problem.
Any idea.
Please I need you help I know you own bmw.
Thank you for you time.
Fernando Coronel i heard an oil change will fix the codes after you replace vanos solenoids.
Had the exact same problem . It’s 100% the cam ledger bearing
@@abzadbu are you sure om N46B20 bmw 1 series 118i 06modell? (Petrol)Same problem code 2a88 cam sensor, oil, vanos replaced car are smooth but yellow egine light chain are tight seems fine.
Добрый день!!! Подскажи пожалуйста, ты не решил проблему с ошибкой P0015 ???? А то она тоже мучает меня . В чём у тебя была причина???? Заранее благодарен за ответ.
I have the same problem you describe on my 2013 328i. The check engine light only comes on after a second startup anytime after clearing the code
I did it 4 times but this trick didn't work with me, pls tell what else it could be?
It could be too much resistance in the solenoids. check resistance or just replace solenoids. ecstunning.com has them for 50 bucks each. Change your oil too if you havent done so already. change both o rings in oil filter housing.
My car been shaking like crazy on in park or at a light and goes slow than picks up I change the sparks I didn’t change this tho imma see if it helps it
Yo this fix your problem?
You're great
Hi. Perhaps you could help me. My 2010 X5 will crank but won't start. I replaced the fuel pump relay and it didn't help. Only codes I got is "fuel mixture too lean on bank 1 and bank 2." That alone shouldn't prevent my car from running. Would a bad mass airflow sensor prevents the car from starting? Again it will crank and engine is turning. How bad crankshaft position sensor prevents the car from starting? Anyone here have suggestions? It's a lot of work to replace the crankshaft sensor since it's under the starter which is under the intake manifold. Thanks guys
Did you ever get car started? What was the issue? This a headache
how do you replace the vanos of 540i 2000 ?
Code will come back when cold start
I have done like what did.. but the fault code still there. Could it be the selonoid cable?
Advise please? Tq.
Hmm maybe or cam sensor or vanos itself or chain also van be bad oil. Try clean vanos with spray or buy new but spray on cable contact.
If I was to get this done at a shop, how much would this cost me?
I know im late but to do this is really just as easy as its shown...i did mines and didnt even remove the cover..
Took maybe 10 minutes.. just make sure you dont drop the o ring in the motor.. i almost did that to mines but found it was just stuck.. super easy..
but a shop will run a diagnostic exam and pull everything it " could" be.. i tested mines at autozone and they even came up with 5 random things.. hopefully you didnt get ripped off
So I am getting this code as well as whistle noise coming from engine. When I open oil cap whistle noise stops when I put cap back on whistle noise returns. Any ideas?
Me too any luck on finding the issue mine started 2 days ago.
Change crank case system. You have a vaccun leak
On crank case vent
What was it Finaly
P0015 has nothing to do with vanos only with the shaft position is the sensor on the side of the vanos. Such cleaning is for a while and erasing the error, the error comes back after driving a few kilometers
I have a code reading of p0015 so I just change the sensor ?
Добрый день. Такая же точно проблема . Подскажи пожалуйста решение данной проблемы. Заранее благодарю тебя.
@@isaacnewton7249did it go away
I clean the vanos delete the code but after 20 km still the same problem. P0015. Anyone helppp
Same here. But it was about 3 weeks after
Ero change it with a new one
Replace with new Vanos solenoid then clear the code. Your solenoid is bad.
Добрый день ! Чем решилась проблема??? Подскажи пожалуйста.
I have replaced both vanos and intake + exhaust sensors and idle has only worsened. Is it perhaps the sensor on top of the valve cover?
I took the solenoid out, unfortunately I cannot put it back in. It seemed like that the rubber is too large to be inserted into the hole. I've already tried to use some lubricant, but that does not help. Anyone know how to deal with this? Thanks.
Put the rubber ring in first. And then put the solenoid in.
Put some oil to the gasket oring
You can use a rubber hammer and carefully hit the solenoid with short and small hits. this happens also when you replace the rubber seals, it is difficult to put in back the solenoid...
Buy a new rubber O ring and lubricate it and re-install the solenoid.
Issue happened after oil change. Hey could it be from oil change? If filled to max?
did you find out what's the problem, I have exact same situation did oil change after couple of hours got codes P0012/P0015
This car has a specific oil filter that includes a stabilizer. A lot of people don't notice it but the part usually breaks off when you do an oil change. It's connected to the oil filter lid. Whoever changed your oil might overlooked it and broke it. I had that issue and when I told the mechanic it happened right after an oil change he instantly knew the problem
@@LILtOOthPICK13 I had that problem also. Bought new cover and fixed this issue.
@@LILtOOthPICK13Can you explain more on the stabilizer? I’m running out of options. Is the stabilizer part of the oil filter? What does it look like?
Hey bro just replaced both cam sensor because code p0015 and p0012 and they still on mybe vanos ??
Yes maybe or chain 😭

P054b code BMW f16 2015.. I already change solenoids didn't helped, dtm always pops after hard acceleration. Please help
I have a 2013 328i with p054b. I changed the magnetic Vanos solenoids in front of the engine. Still getting the same code. Have you fixed it ?
@@guccipig2782 no I didn't unfortunately, I went to indy shop and they determined turbo boost leak on one of the turbos every time I accelerate fast. They were asking 10k for the job.
@@guruVedran I have a recall for turbocharger oil line. Do you think it will fix it
So what if you have new injectors, new vanos, get an intake code for CPS; then replace it and get same code? Is it timing?
Bad oil? Cam sensor?maybe the chain yes
@@Data4664 changed oil before the vanos. Changed both cam sensors and crank sensor and now still has crank sensor code. It’s vanos system or timing…whonfreakin knows at this point 🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
Hello! There are you from?
My car just keeps cranking but wont start, same code, 07’ N54 335i.
Hi. I just want to ask what's causing the grey , blueish smoke on the n52 bmw E90 2006 model
Bluish smoke in any engine (BMW or not) usually indicates that the engine is burning oil. Check compression to see if piston rings are abnormally worn.
I changed timing timin chain on 2013 BMW 328i I get this permanent code PO52B car cranks but doesn’t start!’
Any help greatly appreciated.
Check timing/ make sure all connector are connected correctly
I am having this problem could it be the cam shaft sensor
Yes
Or vanos seals
Or bad oil
Hi. I have a problem with my BMW X6 5.0 m’y problem code is p0015 and p0025 pls can anyone help thanks
How did you resolve issue?

I tried to do preventative maintenance and changed both vanos and I got code P0015. Now the half yellow engine block is on as well. Says reduced power... I'm lost...

Terance Erving im having the same issue, were you able to fix it ?
Do U have yo reprogram it ?
No plug and play... just clear the code after
My X3 is giving me this code but the car won’t start, it just cranks? Any ideas?
Tried this on my 130i and still engine management light 😞
Can I replace the intake solenoid valve and the exhaust solenoid valve?
Yes you can get them at a auto parts store
Can you help oil cap makes loud noise
Bad ccv

Can I use carburetor cleaner to clean the sensor?
Tengo un problema con estas clase de sensores
I switched the solenoids and the problem got worse.
So i replaced my both my vanos an my camshaft sensor, i really think the wire used to connect to the vanos is damaged
My code is P0012 and just had oil change cleaned the vanos and also the are 4 years old bought them new from dealer camshaft sensor is about 3-4 years old also new from dealer so not sure what’s going on on my 07 x5 3.0 si n52 engine
