Finally, can't wait thanks Joe and Kristina. Fellow ID.4 owner. Got a wife and 2 kids and they love it. These videos will help convince my wife to take the ID.4 on longer trips.
Thanks for this video! I have ordered a 2023 ID.4 and was having second thoughts about charging stations. I started to reconsider a Tesla, but the build quality is horrible. This video helped reaffirm my decision. I'm excited to get my ID.4, hopefully soon!
Grand Floridian “beach” woot woot! Love the trip. We stopped at that Indianapolis installation a few weeks ago, was also empty except for us in our white ID.4. Hope the getaway was excellent.
Love your videos. My wife and I did a 4,500 mile round trip from Central Maine to Naples then over to Sebastian about a month before your trip. Gainesville was the only charging issue we had the entire trip. The same two chargers were out of commission. Because the working two charges were occupied, I called AE to see if they could initiate one of the broken units, which they couldn't. They said there was a supply chain issue with getting parts for the two broken charges. Maybe so, or maybe it is just a good excuse. In any case, that was the only time we have had to wait for a charger since we got our AWD Pro S in Oct 21. We now have almost 14,000 miles on it and still love the car. By the way, we typically see much lower charging speeds at DC charges when it is cold.
Great video as always. I’m going to Disney World in my AWD ID4 in June. This will be my first long road trip and I can’t wait to see how it goes. I also live in the Chicago area, so I’ll be going the same route you did and probably stop at all the same places. Can’t wait to see episode 2. Thanks again.
Im so jealous! I usually pack up our car and load my mom in and head to Disney World FL for about 2 mo each winter.....didn't make it this year and I have serious FOMO! LOL
Nice video. Val-dah-sta Is the L2 charging at Disney free and in the parking garage or is that at the hotel you stayed. And is there some Ctrl-alt-del way to reboot the id4 like the model3 or is walking away for 15 mins the only way?
6:14 welcome to greater Lafayette! I live in West Lafayette, home of Purdue, so this will be really helpful for our next trip to FL! We have a blue ID.4 Pro S as well!
Also, the next time you’re at Lafayette EA, the new Mary Lou Donuts should be open at the other end of the parking lot. They’re a Lafayette institution! 🍩
We just did SC to the Keys. Charging in Fla is very expensive. So happy we didn't have to pay for it. We did a 30 min charge in GA for $9.+. Did a 34 min charge in Fla $25.+. Very interesting.
I love your road trips "with all the data". I have definitely learned some things and I enjoy the trips even though my ID.4 is still only a gleam in some German factory worker's eyes. Do you always drive close to 80? Out here I'd get a steady diet of tickets doing that. Dave
I own an ID.4 Pro S I usually roadtrip between 65-70 those are the sweet spot for this car according to my experience. Here in Florida we can’t complaint about the weather ID.4 is performing amazing down here.
Enjoyed your video. I’m going from Ky to Orlando in my ID4 very soon. I plan on using ABRP with dongle for live battery data. Have you used ABRP with dongle? Any particular reason you used VW navigation? Thanks!

I ordered mine thru the VW website and paid sticker. There is dealer inventory available at most dealers and just call around and you should be able to avoid markups.

@@EVMotoring I have experienced loss of Advanced Cruise Control in my FE probably 3 times during last summer's heat. One time during a 200 mile round trip to get a replacement rear tire at TireRack in New Castle, DE. When I stopped and shut down at the warehouse, after about 15-30 min and loading the new tire in the back, the ACC functionality returned. I returned home with no more problems, that day. Simple, on/off power cycle using the start/stop button didn't clear my failure. In my experience, full shutdown for ~15 minutes has always cleared my ID.4 SW glitches. I chalked it up to an overheated binnacle. Sometime feel the heat from the binnacle during the sunny summer. It's too hot to touch! To me, that's the 15 min rule. 😁
It sort of does but it always asks to charge for way too long. It also will frequently try and Route me to level 2 chargers for 8 hours instead of the nearby DC fast chargers
In the over the air update coming later this year (supposedly August) we should be getting a much better charging navigation app from VW. All reviews of it Europe seem to be really good.
Question i have for you, since you have ev would you go back to gas or stay with ev. Seems to me that it's a pain in the butt with the range on the ev and stopping all the time to charge.

What a cool and very enjoyable video. Thanks for the ID4 road trip and greeting from Germany where I’m waiting for my ID4 delivery 🙂
Touring the Walmarts of America can get old fairly quick. We made a point of finding places to eat (non-chains if possible) on our road trip.

Yeah if you are from Georgia that pronunciation will make you cringe, but I get it if you're reading the name for the first time.

Going to Disney World...
the great "American Pilgrimage".
Really enjoy your videos, any word on VW updating its NAV software to include charging stops like Tesla does?
Nothing yet, but I believe this might be a Garmin issue rather than a VW issue as the nav operates over the cars Wi-Fi

I have recently started testing with a dongle and ABRP with success. Haven’t used it enough to demo in a video yet
What kind of dash cam do you use? Also how do you power parking mode if you use it? Thank you
I don’t use a dash cam. I just run a go pro on road trips for vlogging

I have a black first edition. Do you regularly charge to 100%? I'm in the Chicago area.
Not often. Most times I charge to 80 or 90%
any idea when the new ID4 firmware download is coming from VW?
Your guess is as good as mine at this point. Hopefully this summer
Wow....snappy interface.
Is it possible to “long” charge, rather than “deep”, which sounds weird as that usually denotes a liquid substance or fluid.
Is that one of the recalls?
What heppened with all the error messages from earlier on. Did the reset you did clear them?
Yea, locking and walking away for 15 minutes cleared them
15 minute wait rule😖.

Only reason I would switch back is over vehicle cost. I enjoy the charging and anxiety
Just doesn't make sense that VW has such poor nav system for trips. Mach E was that way when I thought about buying one last year.
Yes, the Mach E nav has been substantially upgraded with software updates
The inconvenience. Definitely not for me.
