Nice list, just recently got a vita from my cousin. I'm gonna hack it. Odin 2 still great, haven't looked into emulation handheld recently. Been busy but I'm back now. Happy New Years 🎉
The Vita truly is a great more nostalgic device even if it's not that old. If SON WHY releases another REAL portable handheld, that plays PS5 and below meaning PS1/PSP/PS2/PS3/PS4 in a portable form factor the company would be more rich than Elon Musk! I'd buy 5! Happy New Year to you too!
That last one you showed looks pretty cool. 😎👌 Also BTW I just got a Meta Quest 3 and it's actually a great emulation device. It runs Android which means it's really easy to just install the emulator APKs, and get right to emulation. But I'll say the best thing about it is the deticated Citra fork that has working 3D, and also something called immersive mode. This way, you can play 3DS games in VR with working 3D! I think it's really cool and deserves a review. 😉
Pocket-ability is important to me. I have an Anbernic XX-SP, which is basically your CubeXX's guts inside a GBA SP inspired clamshell. It takes up very little room, so I can take it with me and if I end up playing it on the go then great. If I don't, then no sweat. I have bigger and more powerful stuff for at home use, although I've found that I play my SP at home quite a bit too. FWIW; your CubeXX should play every PS1 game flawlessly. I haven't tested every PS1 game; but, I've played enough to say that with confidence. You can also do a surprisingly large amount of the Dreamcast and PSP libraries with a few tweaks. I hope this helps. Happy New Year 2025.
Rp mini is my favorite handheld right now but pocketability is really important for me. I dont play at my house at all with my kid and wife harassing me all day. Only time i get to play is downtime at the office, doctors or the airport. Lugging these big handhelds around is cumbersome. Steam deck,.rog ally and ally x, ayaneo flip, all sold cuz i never found time to use them. Rp mini i use all the time.
The RP5 according to DHL is "ON HOLD" probably because it arrived in Canada quicker than expected. So no RP5 maybe we'll see how much I use the 5 in 2025 perhaps.
Lol, I actually just snagged a 4TB Samsung NVME a video will be coming because I already tore this down and man did the company try to make it look gold by hiding screws!
Oh man. I bought the F1 Pro as soon as it listed on Amazon. Not gonna lie, I didn’t tell my wife exactly how much I paid for it. Absolutely worth it to me.

Anbernic just created more of the same. It’s like how many times can we reinvent the wheel, while ending up with the same wheel in the end, and maybe throwing an OLED screen or two in there. I still play my 556 every now and then, but my retroid pocket mini just looks and plays so much better in my opinion. Even though the screen is smaller, I really like the size and portability.
Ha it's not a terrible device I just wish it was better if that makes sense? I mean the design is actually decent but the buttons and joysticks were what bugged me the most. Plus the usb c video issue where it would work when it felt like working lol. My one daughter uses it for Minecraft/Roblox every day though and only complains when she accidentally hits the Anbernic Launcher and doesn't known how to exit it 😆
@@DNAMobileGaming Have not had the pleasure of trying the usb c video. I agree that the buttons and sticks are not the best. However I do wish the RP 5 came out prior to me getting it. I just wanted the ergonomics without having to buy the shell for the RP4.
The video never reached the view goal in time and that was part of the rule/game for the 4 Pro. That's why it went to my daughter instead because it was just sitting there on the shelf not being used. At least she got it though because if I did send this to someone and the spring broke, I don't know how Retroid would handle the replacement back plate they're sending me.
I was thinking about this the other day. All the biggest and bestest Android devices are now pushing 5 to 7 years of operating system updates. Do these Android gaming devices have that kind of lifespan? I know there is such thing as lineage OS But should you get an Odin too over an s23 ultra when an s23 Ultra has about 4 to 5 years left?
Well to break it down, the devices like the Odin 2 for example have active cooling to keep these chips from thermal throttling like the S20 series does A LOT! I have had my S20 and S22 completely reboot many times while playing even heavily demanding games from GPlay. The Odin 2 never have I had it do this. However yes there's options like passive cooling controllers which try to help but most of these require some external power to run the fan. BUT as there's always a butt in these types of questions, maybe you want to teardown your S20 for example. Gut it for the screen and motherboard. 3D print a ergonomic grip. Solder a cooling fan that can run all the time or when you want to the battery terminals. Then create your own all in one handheld, I've seen it done lol. However who wants to do that 😏. So security updates are they really necessary? My S24 Ultra has updated a ton since I got it, and Samsung STILL has NOT fixed an issue with Dex. There's a big Reddit post about this issue too. So is it worth it, nah not really, I think even my S20 with Android 13 on it really isn't worth it.
@@DNAMobileGaming Right after I read your comment, I got a couple videos that popped up in my RUclips about people making their own handhelds with OLED and then I started thinking about how this pixel 7 is probably going to be done with operating systems in a couple years, and I started to wonder if there's maybe a way to recycle this OLED screen
Looking to get my first retro handheld. . My modded psp vita about had it and Looking to upgrade . . Any recommendations would be appreciated it . . Thank you
@@crodriguez2004 - Jordan, the proprietor of this channel, isn't going to like me recommending this; but, the Retroid Pocket 5. It's at the low end of your budget, is sized roughly the same as your Vita despite having a much bigger screen, and can do a very good job with most things through PS2. Switch, WiiU, and Vita will struggle at times due to the immaturity of their respective emulators and, in the case of Switch emulation, limited-ish RAM for some of the bigger Switch games. At the upper end of your budget is the Odin2 Base. Base just means that it doesn't have enough RAM to be truly good at Switch emulation. For everything else it's as good as an Android handheld can get. For a few dollars more you can get the smaller Odin2 Mini, if portability matters to you. The Mini is roughly Vita sized. If you hate Android and think that portability is a four letter word, used Steam Decks are always a viable option.

BaByee!! 😂 Had me laugh everytime. Great video friend, happy new year to you and your family, see you in 2025!
Ha there's a reason for the BuhByee, when you close the DS while playing Mario games, Mario says BuhByee! See you in 2025, let's get er done!
Good video.
I like how your 5 represented what you actually played the most.
I believe I played my Miyoo & DS most in 2024.

I want an Odin2 Mini so bad, i have a modded 3DS but i like the thought of carrying around the Odin more
Look out for the two hidden screws under the stickers when upgrading the SSD on the F1 Pro. That was so much fun to do. 😂

I still play my Vita! It's a thing of beauty, especially with the homebrew community.

Im stuck. Idk wherher to get the rg40xxm or the rg cube xx
My Odin 2 is great but I find myself just playing stuff on the steam deck oled instead. Really it’s just my mobile Fortnite console atm 😅.
I take rp3+ to the casino instead of playing their machines 😂
Well that might be a good thing since there's more chance of losing than winning anyways 🤣

What's your budget? And, what do you want to play?
200.00-300.00 and I would like to play everything I can on a handheld that would allow me too . . .
