I grew up in Stockton, then went to UCDavis starting in 1985. My Buddy and I used to go to the old Arco to see the Kings play in 1986 - I eventually met Reggie Theus in Roseville when he was named the new coach in 2008ish. Too much fun. Oh, Let's Go, A's!
I love the idea of them staying in sac permanently, it would be good for the organization, it’s still in Northern California, and lots more, I hope they stay and build a new stadium in Sacramento
I was at the Kings game when the A's players were introduced. They seemed to get a warm reception from the fans, and that game was a good one for them to visit! I do hope things work out for them to stick around in Sacramento.
People forget that 1/2 of Sacramento is already A’s fans the other 1/2 are Giants fans. For some fans it’s an easy embrace. For others there is still pain from them leaving Oakland. The energy for the Kings and sports is contagious and always a fun thing to do in the city. The same energy will be brought to baseball and the A’s

I think it makes sense. It would be California’s inland team. Away from the coast. Oakland fans could still get to games, and you could build a downtown ballpark in Sacramento right next to the rail connections.
As you said Brodie, Fisher was FORCED to spend money otherwise he would have continued his infuriating penny pinching until his palace is completed. As a Sacramento resident I am stoked albeit concerned whether he will keep this talented roster intact
That’s the real disappointing part. The fan base has been saying that for years! If MLB would have done that 3 years ago things would have been very different.

Yes. No one should underestimate how large a portion of the A's fan base is/was from the Valley and foothills. If you are from Sacramento, the closest MLB team was the A's, and it was always a lot more convenient to drive and park in Oakland than to try to get to a Giants game. Both teams were covered by our local media. Sacramento is a natural end point for the A' and has been for years.Hopefully they move off of LV.

I confidently believe the A’s will stay in Sac. If Fisher knew he’d be in Las Vegas, he already would’ve put Las Vegas on the team’s name and pre-market the team in Nevada.
It would have been too hard to make it work with the AAA team, and they would have had to play some games Sunday in the burning sun. It will still get done in Vegas is my bet.
What would you prefer Brodie, for the A's to somehow magically stay in Sacramento, or move on to Vegas? I live in Sacramento and I for one am super excited for it, I also Bleed teal so to have part of the Bay Area move up here with us I think would be amazing. Let Vegas get an expansion team or something...
They are a FAR BETTER fit in Sacramento than Vegas. Makes alot of sense business wise. Even if they rebrand as the "California A's", it's still better than Vegas. Vegas, if they're gonna get a team, it should be an expansion franchise of their own.
I’m conflicted because I live closer to Sac than Oakland. I never wanted the A’s to move out of Oakland. But selfishly for me seeing the A’s in sac is what a one way trip in travel would be. I think there’s gonna be a lot of fans that feel the same that will take advantage of this.
I've been saying since the 3yr "stay" was announced that Vegas will fall thru and Fisher will take on Vivek as a partner and they will stay in Sacremento...
They did not sell out, there was plenty of inventory on the last day they were on sale. They just simply stopped selling them then proclaimed "we sold out of season tickets"
I was impressed with how Ginn improved as a pitcher last year. I certainly hope they continue to develop him as a player. I hope the A’s continue to invest in these more than promising young players.
Sacramento has had a love affair with baseball for decades and decades. I would even say we are a baseball town before basketball. In the late 80’s Sacramento put together hundreds of Busses full of Sacramentans in blue shirts called the March on baseball and we took over the coliseum to show baseball that we wanted baseball. The A’s will feel 3 years of love they have never experienced. If they end up leaving in 3 years, so be it.
We've been paying major league prices for the Rivercats and Sac Republic for years. Sacramento will support the A's for as long as they're here, hopefully permanently.
THANK YOU for pointing out Ranadive’s motives, everyone was acting like he was just bailing out John Fisher to be a bro. Like, no, if you have the opportunity to get an MLB team into your back yard you need to TAKE IT and I see nothing wrong with that.
I'm a Sacramento native, and I had been a life-long A's fan for 25 years because of the time when the Rivercats were affiliated with the A's. I was very attached to the franchise through thick and thin, but I finally gave up this past year because of Fisher. It's like getting back together with somebody after they've cheated on you. You gotta figure out if they're actually with you for real, or if you're just a last resort because they have nowhere else to go. If the team wound up staying in Sacramento, I'd eventually come back around. But if the team's plan is just to use Sacramento as a stepping stone, then heck no, leave me out of it.
Great video..fair, balanced and with nuance. You continue to put your finger on the pulse of the sports world across the board. You are a REAL journalist and people in our region are lucky to have you, Brodie.
In the late-90s, the then-Oilers were supposed to play in Memphis for two years while Nissan Field was built in Nashville. Memphians hated being treated as an afterthought, especially after losing out in the 1995 expansion. The only time the Liberty Bowl was more than half full was the last game against the Steelers, when the Pittsburgh Club of Memphis flooded the stadium with Steelers fans. It was such a fiasco that the Oilers played at Vanderbilt's stadium in 1998. Three years, maybe four, is not sustainable as an afterthought.
The A's seem to be trying to really hype being in Sacramento which is really odd because they definitely didn't hype being in Oakland that much for like the last I don't know 20 years or something. Okay yes they try to hype games sure but it didn't seem like they tried to hide them as much as they are doing now
Brodie, do you know what the radio and tv situation will be for the A's as they spend time in Sacramento? And who will be doing the play-by-play? Love the Morii signing!
I suspect, based on the "sold out" declaration, that there are a fair amount of speculators hoping to sell tickets on the secondary marker. Time will tell if that will turn out to be a wise investment and strategy.
If the A’s stayed in Sacramento and committed to the team, I’d come back as a fan, although i doubt with the same amount of passion vs Oakland. Las Vegas??? Not in a million years.
Sacramento beware. Every time the A’s and Oakland came to an agreement, the A’s would move the goalposts. Fisher is a Giants fan who wants the A’s out of CA before he sells them.
They have already sold out their season tickets for the first year. Going to be fun. Why wouldn't they rent a house or apartment it's 3 years not 3 months!
I've been an Oakland A's fan since 86'. Happy to see them in Sac because I live here but I'm sure I'll get attached. I do believe that every game will sell out. I'm hearing a lot of excitement from others in our community
The way I see it, there are two types of sports fans (from a loyalty/marketing perspective). Fans of the players and fans of the team. With the As going through this move, you’re already turning away many fans of the Athletics, so you need these nice, likable guys that are also solid balllplayers that draw eyes to the team. I think that’s why we’re seeing a departure from the As being stingy with contracts with this Rooker situation.
I guess what I’d like to know from Sacramento residents is: do people there support the Kings, Sacramento FC, the minor league baseball team, etc..? If the answer is an overwhelming yes, then it might make sense for them to stay
Honestly Ready for Baseball season! This team is gonna be Legit. It Sucks Fisher has only been Spending because he was forced too tho.. wonder why they Never made him do that in Oakland tho?
He should have been forced to do so in Oakland. If you wanna be an owner, you need to try. It's an exclusive group. If I was an owner or the player's union, I would object to any owner not trying. It hurts MLB as a whole to allow deadbeat owners.
0:44 actually the biggest surprise isn't the fact that the A's are going to spend time in Sacramento for a few years before going to Las Vegas but the fact that the A's actually decided to pay somebody. I'm surprised they would actually give somebody such a big contract. They're always being too cheap to keep their best players
I think the "season tickets are sold out" thing was a way to move on from only selling those packages. Otherwise, with a low capacity available, theywould have problems transitioning to single game tickets. Also, some of the season ticket holders are already trying to sell individual game tickets for upwards of $250. If that's the real pricepoint for Tuesday night games versus the Twins, you will see empty seats in the stadium.
Isn’t ballys in the toilet? I can see them sell the entire site and then they can build a bigger stadium. Now if it’s the A’s or an expansion team Is the big ?
@@johnfarr2738 they definitely need money they are selling shares to the Chicago property, although that's the deal you make in illinois when you get a license, still seemingly needed regardless
Why it make sense for the A's to pick Sacramento over Vegas #1 Sacramento TV market is #20 vs Vegas is #40 #2 Fanbase: Sacramento already has an A's fanbase from Oakland, vs Vegas fans are majority Dodgers #3 Location/Area: Sacramento has the site of unbuilt Arco Park & Cal Expo vs Vegas has 9 acres on the busiest street in the entire state (also not that kid friendly) #4 Stadium Roof: Sacramento has the ability to have games in the fresh air vs Vegas is always too hot
I still place it at a coin flip as to whether th A's actually end up in Vegas versus staying in Sacramento or something else. Land being cleared doesn't mean anything until steel is going up
I think Sacramento fans might get attached to MLB more than the A's. Yeah, root hard for them while they're in town, but baseball might be where Sacramento directs its efforts at having a 2nd pro team in the future.
Congrats to Rook but I was secretly hoping he was going to come across the Bay. The A's are lucky to have a landing spot given Fisher's horrendous management of everything. Can't say I'm too surprised as the rich aren't inherently good managers or business people.
The measure feels like Vivek isn’t trying to keep another rich owner’s team in his city. The longer term plan feels like a soft start towards Sacramento being MLB’s 31st/32nd team (and they’ll learn a lot from the failed MLS expansion push). Be respectful while they’re in your town but know they’re not your team… but hey MLB, wouldn’t it be great to bring a second MLB team back to Northern California in the 35th biggest US city by population vs the 45th ? ;)
PR is PR. Today they’re in Sacramento and when it’s the right time they’ll be in Las Vegas. No reason to be in LV now hyping a product that won’t exist for a few years with players that likely will not be part of the organization by then.
Sacramento will embrace the As just as they have the Kings. Sacramento a working class town would give the team an identity that glitz Vegas never could!. Build a statium in West Sac and keep the As in NoCal! AS far as the A's making a connection with the fans??? They'll be playing Major League baseball!

I hope and believe that they will stay in Sac🤩
I wish they would stay in Sacramento
Hopefully the A’s stay in Sacramento. I would still support them. Just like I support the Sacramento kings after the Warriors.
There is an outstanding offer for the team; take it.
This is like an mlb, nba, nfl relocation station
Yep
Brodie Brodie Brodie!!
My first choice was always for the A's to be in Oakland, but if that can't happen, I would love to see Sacramento poach the team from Las Vegas.
Sacramento has had a love affair with baseball for decades and decades. I would even say we are a baseball town before basketball. In the late 80’s Sacramento put together hundreds of
Busses full of Sacramentans in blue shirts called the March on baseball and we took over the coliseum to show baseball that we wanted baseball. The A’s will feel 3 years of love they have never experienced. If they end up leaving in 3 years, so be it.
The second that shovel goes in the ground in Vegas, Sacramento is auditioning for expansion. Hopefully they will be rewarded.
Sacramento A’s has a good ring to it
Sacramento A’s. would be Legit I hope
This happens And I’m a Giants fan
We've been paying major league prices for the Rivercats and Sac Republic for years. Sacramento will support the A's for as long as they're here, hopefully permanently.
Damn y'all rich
Would be awesome if they stayed in Sacramento.
were'nt they going to Las Vegas?
In the late-90s, the then-Oilers were supposed to play in Memphis for two years while Nissan Field was built in Nashville. Memphians hated being treated as an afterthought, especially after losing out in the 1995 expansion. The only time the Liberty Bowl was more than half full was the last game against the Steelers, when the Pittsburgh Club of Memphis flooded the stadium with Steelers fans. It was such a fiasco that the Oilers played at Vanderbilt's stadium in 1998.
Three years, maybe four, is not sustainable as an afterthought.
I saw Locked on A's was attempting to call out Brody earlier this week about the "Oakand Lies."
first I've heard of it. also don't care.
Failing Las Vegas or Oakland, I’d rather have the A’s in Sacramento or Salt Lake, with someone other than Fisher running the team, of course.
i hope they stay here permanantly. the A's are my AL team, giants my NL team
The A's seem to be trying to really hype being in Sacramento which is really odd because they definitely didn't hype being in Oakland that much for like the last I don't know 20 years or something. Okay yes they try to hype games sure but it didn't seem like they tried to hide them as much as they are doing now
Vivek Ranadive is a hype owner. The A's in Oakland didn't have that
Brodie, do you know what the radio and tv situation will be for the A's as they spend time in Sacramento?
And who will be doing the play-by-play? Love the Morii signing!
I suspect, based on the "sold out" declaration, that there are a fair amount of speculators hoping to sell tickets on the secondary marker. Time will tell if that will turn out to be a wise investment and strategy.
It would be great if they stay in Sacramento
If the A’s stayed in Sacramento and committed to the team, I’d come back as a fan, although i doubt with the same amount of passion vs Oakland.
Las Vegas??? Not in a million years.
Rook, blink twice if you need help
Sacramento beware. Every time the A’s and Oakland came to an agreement, the A’s would move the goalposts. Fisher is a Giants fan who wants the A’s out of CA before he sells them.
Fisher should just sell the team. It will never change with Fish and company
They have already sold out their season tickets for the first year. Going to be fun. Why wouldn't they rent a house or apartment it's 3 years not 3 months!
Brodie is clearly still in the Bargaining stage of Grief.
He still making A's videos
The Sacramento Zoo is moving to Elk Grove. Maybe they can build a stadium next to it.
I've been an Oakland A's fan since 86'. Happy to see them in Sac because I live here but I'm sure I'll get attached. I do believe that every game will sell out. I'm hearing a lot of excitement from others in our community
I've heard it will be very expensive, and that might make selling out difficult.
Fisher needs to sell the A’s and they need to keep the A’s in Sacramento!! Sacramento is a perfect fit and place for the A’s !!
Please do a story about the many ex-giants who are managers. Roughly one quarter of the mlb managers are ex-giants.
Switch 2 is bigger news
I think Ballys will sell that whole site soon
They’re also an uncertainty
They need money for the Chicago casino build@@brodiebrazil
Isn’t ballys in the toilet? I can see them sell the entire site and then they can build a bigger stadium. Now if it’s the A’s or an expansion team Is the big ?
@@johnfarr2738 they definitely need money they are selling shares to the Chicago property, although that's the deal you make in illinois when you get a license, still seemingly needed regardless
Why it make sense for the A's to pick Sacramento over Vegas
#1 Sacramento TV market is #20 vs Vegas is #40
#2 Fanbase: Sacramento already has an A's fanbase from Oakland, vs Vegas fans are majority Dodgers
#3 Location/Area: Sacramento has the site of unbuilt Arco Park & Cal Expo vs Vegas has 9 acres on the busiest street in the entire state (also not that kid friendly)
#4 Stadium Roof: Sacramento has the ability to have games in the fresh air vs Vegas is always too hot
The A's are a team on the rise, would like them to get a stadium deal in Sacramento or Utah, since Vegas is giving them the shaft.
Did the coyotes sell out mullett arena?
yes, but for very expensive prices
I'm done with the A's. I may follow them a bit, hoping that they tank and never win again.
MLS too with Sac Republic FC
@splashnskillz37 Didn't their ownership group flame out?
@@michaelmeehan9553 Yeah but there's always a chance
Brodie - any chance you think Dave Kaval would be open for a debrief on leaving?
zero chance
Congrats to Rook but I was secretly hoping he was going to come across the Bay. The A's are lucky to have a landing spot given Fisher's horrendous management of everything. Can't say I'm too surprised as the rich aren't inherently good managers or business people.
Same here, Rooker would've been great in a Giants uniform. Could be a right handed power bat that's a DH, but can play some RF
I want that Oakland back in Oakland
Rooker is a smart guy. Of course, he says the A’s are a great organization from top to bottom. You don’t disrespect the top flea bag dog owner.
Did anyone see they took the elephant patch off the jerseys and replaced it with a bridge and the name Sacramento on it. Sad.
I have heard about New Yorkers and Brooklynites continuing to support their team even after the west coast move.
You’re absolutely 1000% wrong, those moves destroyed the love of baseball for millions until the Mets proved themselves
Well and also, if you’re selling out tickets. How many people are just buying tickets to their game because they’re a fan of the visiting team?
The measure feels like Vivek isn’t trying to keep another rich owner’s team in his city. The longer term plan feels like a soft start towards Sacramento being MLB’s 31st/32nd team (and they’ll learn a lot from the failed MLS expansion push). Be respectful while they’re in your town but know they’re not your team… but hey MLB, wouldn’t it be great to bring a second MLB team back to Northern California in the 35th biggest US city by population vs the 45th ? ;)
Should just give vegas and san jose expansion teams
If I were a ballplayer, I would refuse to play for the A's.
Sounds better to be in Sacramento
I think it’s interesting that the A’s are putting the Sacramento patch on their jerseys. Thought they were going to pretend not to be in Sac lol.
How long before all those guys are traded
PR is PR. Today they’re in Sacramento and when it’s the right time they’ll be in Las Vegas. No reason to be in LV now hyping a product that won’t exist for a few years with players that likely will not be part of the organization by then.
Stay in Sacramento
don't forget about Ruiz
Too bad OAKLAND A’s fans don’t get to enjoy this upward trend. Anything outside of the Oakland A’s I know I could care less
Sacramento will embrace the As just as they have the Kings. Sacramento a working class town would give the team an identity that glitz Vegas never could!. Build a statium in West Sac and keep the As in NoCal! AS far as the A's making a connection with the fans??? They'll be playing Major League baseball!
If the A's want me to pay "Yankee" prices, they're going to have to field a team as good as the Yankees. Otherwise, I'm keeping my money in my wallet.
