I seriously thought I did absolutely EVERYTHING in Undertale, and I learned that I was wrong, once again. What a truly amazing game, has been my favorite for years.
I just realized how honorable Undyne is... She quite literally hands a child who, by all accounts, can be more powerful than everyone combined just by existing, a defensive weapon so the fight could be as fair as can be. I am not sure if that's bravery, honor, or stupidity.

Just shows how good she is. She could easily kill you in a pacifist route but wants you to have the best chance you can have to prove herself. And gets so angry when you don’t even try.

undyne is like meta knight. is aware that the child they're fighting could very well be a god, yet still gives said child a weapon to make the fight fair.
Fun fact! This is used in True Pacifist speedruns. It's called "kindergarten strat" and it makes all of her attacks faster from then on, which is obviously faster.
This is actually used in Undertale speedruns, since if you keep sparing you'll end up skipping a bunch of her attacks. The next attack after the video ends would have been the attack she gives the third time she catches you.

@@vqsxd punch card is an item obtained from buying nice cream from the nice cream guy on waterfall usually you are supposed to use 3 of them for a free nice cream, but you can also use it on the overworld to pop up a drawing saying 'please, please come back. . .' which speedrunners use to perform a glitch that allows to skip basically half the game
@@byismael8385 it lets you wrong warp, which is somehow the least interesting part of its shenanigans you can quite literally entirely skip most of hotland, all of mettatons encounters (including mettaton EX), and a ton of other stuff the punch card is so good that despite aborted geno in hotland (where you fight undying and skip straight to neo, aborting genocide) being faster normally, the fact exhausting the kill counter in snowdin makes the punch card unobtainable makes speedruns where its allowed go through the entire neutral snowdin and hotland (which is much slower without the punch card) just to use it so yeah, pretty god damn good, esp in true pacifist
Undyne is a warrior with honor,and tries to give a fair chance even to their hated enemy in a battle by giving them a good fighting chance. It kind of makes me think of Meta Knight,like how he gives you a sword before he fights you.
I knew this game was popular, but not THIS popular. I finally got the chance to watch all of Jacksepticeye's playthrough in quarantine and I LOVED the game. The story, how it evoke emotions is definitely inspirational. I am currently studying for game content production and I'm focusing on game storytelling so you can imagine how much this game inspire me. I wish one day I could write something half as good as Undertale is.

Undyne really takes a while to consider that humans may be different from what she's been taught. Like Frisk. Frisk can dodge her in a tutu or just take, cause they can.
Doing this to Undyne is something I just have to do every run. Like it's a foregone conclusion that whenever I return to UT, I always make sure I do this.
The interesting thing about this is that in Genocide, she gets hit taking a fatal blow meant for Monster Kid, before she's had a chance to do anything. Yet you presumably have the spear in the Genocide run, which means despite the fact you already dealt her a killing blow, and she's only able to continue due to determination, she STILL gives you the spear to make the fight more fair. I think it's more likely that you're using your own weapon to block the blows but I kinda like the idea that Undynes sense of honor is such that she'd still give you a weapon to defend yourself despite everything.
So I unironically did this on my first playthrough because I thought the point of the shield was to match the way the arrow was pointing with the V shape on the shield. And when that didn't work I assumed it meant I had to do the opposite. I don't remember exactly how far I got in this path, but I do remember feeling like a complete idiot as soon as I realized I had completely misinterpreted the shield. It just goes to show that you can't possibly design for every conceivable interaction with your game.
Honestly the creativity in this game was wayyyyyyy ahead of its time. Unique interactions per action, unique dialogues, decisions and Easter eggs, etc.
I found this in 2022 and for some reason I was laughing the whole time. And "Undyne suplexes a huge boulder just because she can." had me rolling on the floor laughing-
