    Terrific information! I'm currently being treating for Lyme's disease. What a disabling disease! 21 days of antibiotics will hopefully get me back on track. We need more research on this terrible disease!!! Northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan are seeing many cases of Lyme's at present, so pass the word. Sincerely, Ossie

    Another great video Annie and Dave !! For the update of this video you guys should try Picaridin instead of DEET and include the Poodle Dog Bush that is making a lot of people itch !! in the west at least !!

    Get and use a tick key on ticks. Most people can't use tweezers without squeezing the tick and making it regurgitate back into the wound. The tick key will pull the tick without putting any pressure on it.

    If you walk through poison ivy, how do you deal with your boots? Assuming the boot and the laces are covered with the oils of the plant, and I need to keep wearing them for a few days.

    • @CleverHiker
      @CleverHiker  7 лет назад

      Hmm, good question. I'd avoid touching them until you can get home and properly clean them. Not a great answer, but really it comes down to avoiding poison ivy as much as possible.

    Great vid Dave, do you have the name of the emancipator track you use for your intro? Much appreciated!

      +MrRetiJunior I believe that's a cut from the track "nevergreen" off his album "safe in the steep cliffs." Excellent album. All his other stuff is great too. Highly recommended.

    Hey dave.
    I really enjoy (all) your movies. 7 years ago i started bushcrafting, but recently i really started to enjoyed hiking and i learned so much from you.
    Why dont you post some movies from your own trips? It would be fun to watch.
    Thanks for the education!

    If you are stung by a bee you should never pull on the stinger as you can squeeze it to release more venom, use a credit card or something similar to swipe it out.

    • @CleverHiker
      @CleverHiker  9 лет назад +4

      From what I've read, that's a common misconception. It's actually better to just get it out as quick as possible. Otherwise you'll waste time looking for a credit card.

    • @carloszenteno
      @carloszenteno 9 лет назад +1

      +Dave Collins (CleverHiker) Yes, I have read that as long as the stinger is in you, it keeps delivering venom. So take it out as fast as you can!

    You should never pull a stinger out you're likely just to push it back in further the solution is to scratch the skin this will pull it out but only scratched one way or this won't be effective
