True, if you keep the API channel strip on each of the tracks. After you're done mixing the drums (if you were to do it like the video), a trick you can do is bounce each of them in place with the effects on them and then delete the old track/remove the plugin from the old track. This will save CPU and still give you the effects you want on those bounced tracks. Only thing is, you'll have to be sure thats what you want before you bounce the tracks and delete/remove the plugin from the old tracks. And also, I doubt you would need the full Channel Strip on each of these (6?) tracks in the video. The Snare, Kick, Hi Hats and overheads maybe, but the others, not always. For some of those other tracks, you could get by using just an EQ or just a compressor/gate/sweep, etc. All mixing is circumstantial, so using careful judgement is key. Hope this helps!
is this a compressor or a limiterr!!!!! jesus christ please someone explain to me! people say both "limiter collection" as well as "tube compressor". it doesn't show the ratio!!!! it can1t be both things at the same time. please does someone know??
It sounds like you are describing the LA-2A tube compressor? For that compressor there is no ratio knob because its already set internally, and also limiting is just really high compression ratio like 20:1 or more so a compressor can also be set to be a limiter with the right settings.
When using a cloudlifter with an AKG D5 or SM57, my input is way too hot with the input gain of this plugin (in unison mode) all the way down. If I remove the cloudlifter or pad -20db, then it’s too quit with the input gain maxed. Am I doing something wrong, or is that not a good mic combo for this plugin?
Love these 5-minute tips ! Really shows none pro's why UAD rock.
this channel strip is dope
Would you need a separate API channel strip for each part? Seems like your DSP would be gone after only doing drums.
That's what Satellites are for! 💪🏻

Hey Josesh, no need for cloudlifter, use Pad if needed. That should be all you need.
Reload?
The snare sounds painfully too agressive :/ But great video anyway! Cheers
context. my friend. context.
I wonder how it would sound in full mix and after mixbus compression and all other effects like tape.
Sounds better dry!
I agree with you.
