When I first got this game, I made the grievous mistake of picking the Sapphire Passage first, turning me off the game. But now, I love the spooky atmosphere of this level, especially the music, and I dig that skeleton ghost.
Ikr like I like how it contains the health meter system, which is what Wario Land II and 3 should've had. Besides, Wario still turned into different forms from enemies to get to a certain situation while having a health meter system at the same time, so Wario Land II and 3 should've had both of those mechanics as well, with or without a remaining lives system, and your health meter reaching 0 by itself or when you have no remaining lives left results in a game over where you're given an option whether you want to continue or save the game and quit.

You get limited time with the bat ability you can't extend it.
