The brand new 1000 srt costs like 50 bucks more than the rev-5 in my country, i love the battle layout but 50 bucks more for two more channels and hardware fx damn 😢
This is my very first upgrade and I am super excited!!! I currently have a DDJ-400 and am working professionally at 3 venues and starting to get consistent gigs.. just bought the Rev-5 today! It should be here in a few days and I am super pumped. Thanks for the review!!
Funny, I was debating between the Rev7 and the FLX10. Well, this is the answer: Rev5, exactly what I needed + more. The Auto BPM feature for open format DJs is just fantastic, and you didn't even demonstrate the Autoloop function that can be used while Auto BPMing :) Great review!
Pioneer DJ literally just answered my prayers and then some with the DDJ-REV5! I’ve been saying for MONTHS, I hoped they would make something that’s above my adored DDJ-REV1 but under the DDJ-REV7 I already own the RANE One so I don’t need another flagship just something more professional (w/RGB lighting, XLR output etc) than my REV1. Same thought process as the DJM-S11, DJM-S7 and DJM-S5 Pioneer DJ even drooped a Magvel fader 🎚️ in it!? USB-C power and connectivity! Wow 🤩 Take My Money 💰
Wild to have a pioneer controller above $1000 with no onboard effects. Tough decision, rev7 is in my DJ furniture. Looking for a travel/non wedding unit. If no onboard I’m leaning toward the herc T7 but maybe I’ll warm up to the rev5
Bro, I'm not even a battle DJ. I play more main stage EDM, or clubs with CDJ 3000's and shit, but I can't help but be fascinated with what you guys do, and I'm preatty stoked about the Pioneer takeover of the vinyl world, I might even pick up a couple of their new record players.
Great preview, Nick. Basically, this is a budget Rev 7 with an amazing beatmatching feature. I put a high value on the motorized platter, myself, but if price was a limiting factor I'd go with this.
This is perfect for open format and battle-style DJs who want to upgrade from the Rev1 or don't want to spend a lot for the Rev7. I am waiting for Pioneer DJ to come wth a smaller version of the FLX 10.
"I wish I could have [eq stems] this on every mixer" *laughs in VDJ* But really, nice review dude. In depth, detailed...you and CT nailed it. It'll be interesting to see how sales go with it for sure.
Ok this may not be a popular opinion, but the reason for putting decks in battle mode back in day, was in order to have more control and not make tone arms jump when scratching and backspining etc. You put up with having the pitch control in that awkward horizontal position, to get that benefit. No reason to have pitch up there when you don't have tonearms.
Nice review but unfortunately it has no screen, no quad core processor, it wil make a nice paper weight on a work table-- if there's not a cumbersome laptop available. Meaning it doesn't have built in wifi either. I think I will pass. Looks nice though. I sort of wish you'd stop reviewing dinosaurs, you having the young GenZ, move ahead sort of persona.
Hey brotha. I need to buy a new laptop.. which Mac are you using ?? I had a beefed up 2015 that’s been a workhorse, but I want to start doing stems, with Serato and prob a Rane 4, I have the Rane 1 now, but miss having 4 channels..
Haha, the auto transmission "silence" says it all what you think about it. How does Rekordbox uses the bass and melody stems buttons as it doesn't have separate stems for that?
I was just saying its time for a new professional high but mid tier controller. I'm reluctant on taking my rev-7 out the house. This is more likey going to be a purchase I make.
I got the Inpulse T7 yesterday which is a toy, cheap build quality. Was looking for a back up to my Rev 7 and the Hercules def doesn’t hold up and my fx lever was bent and defective right out the box it’s getting returned. May get a Rev 5 even though I’m not the biggest fan of mechanical platters.
I wish they would have kept the platter display like the SRTs. I always wanted the SRT to have an S style mixer...and the on board FX were always better than the Serato ones but it looks like a great offering and for only $1,099.... Speaking of, does Serato have a reverse/pull back effect?
Thanks for the thorough and in-depth walk thru. I disagree on one thing. You can use the Rev1 in a professional environment. I would like to know why you said that about the Rev1 tho. I do just fine with mines. 🤷🏻♂️
Never liked the SRT due to the mechanical jogs. Sold it for the Rev 7 for that very reason. Hercules T7 is sounding like a better choice for me personally and a bit cheaper.
I’ve had the 1000 srt since it’s been out and I’ve really enjoyed it. Having said that, this is the controller that us mobile guys wanted from the start. For us using furniture, the 4 channel mixer never made sense. Having the unit in the furniture makes the third and fourth decks useless imo. I think I’d miss the jog wheel display that the 1000 has but would take this over the rev 7 jog display. To me the rev 7 display had too much going. If I were in the market for a new controller this would be it but I think I’m gonna ride the 1000 until the wheels for off.
@@P4boot I’m used to switching now. At first I would instant double everything so I didn’t have to switch the effects lol. The 4 channels were just never a need for me either. I get what pioneer was doing when they made the 1000 though.
Sorry but not ok with this auto BPM transition thing, it takes away from the art of beat matching but I mean the market wants a world where every body is a world class Dj and never have to practice so cool for the investors.
Yet another epic controller from Pioneer that caters for all the staunch laptop dj's dj's out there WHO just cant stand the thought of seeing the waveform. Man iEven a two track
I have been using the DDJ 1000 for Rekordbox for the last 5 years. If I were to get this DDJ REV 5 is this a downgrade or an upgrade for me ? Lol Im only asking because I’ve read comments that the REV 5 is an upgrade to the DDJ 800.. so whats it compared to the 1000? Either way I couldn’t resist. I already ordered the Rev 5. Im still gonna use the rekordbox software, I just hope the steams work and sound better on the 5 than the stems they gave us for the 1000.
Love your videos, I lmao every time. But this is another Trash unit cash crab from Pioneer I bet. FLX6 killed my love for pioneer. Platters went bad right after a year and they won't fix it....Rane got my money!
As cool as this is, I will have to pass. I can do everything on my ddj sz2 that this can do. The only reason why I won't upgrade is the effects section. It's hideous. Not as bad as the srt 1000 but I can't stack effects and I can only use one effect at the time. That's a no gracias for me. And yes. Stems is legit. Not there yet, but today is at it's worse. It's getting better daily
Dear Sir Nicholas Spinelli, you gotta give a more realistic genuine review than this commercial lol. We want to hear the negatives & the positives.. “ come on man!”
the Facial Expressions are WILD and EPIC😳😳😩🤣NICK You are THE REALEST👏🏽😅your Videos are Great!!!!! Your Honesty and REALEST Takes’… definitely Appreciates it!!!!!
Niiicccceeeeee.... got rid of my 1000srt for ddj -Rev 7.... I would of got Rev 5 if it came out before Rev 7..... But I'm good for a while.... great recommendation for Rev 1 guys... Rev 3 next
Battle position needs to disappear on controllers, on a turntable it kept the needle and arm away from you and freed up more vinyl realestate for hands, but all it does on controllers is cause shoulder and back pain during long mixes, there is no benefit unless you have a tonearm to avoid IMO
Asking the awesome god experts on controllers, for a beginner. Is this recommended? honestly, i dont like flx 4, but if i have to go that way... oh well...
The Rane one didn’t have hardware effects and that was a deal breaker, pioneer brings out a controller with only software effects and it’s the best thing ever. People are crazy.
Finally people that want to buy an over priced DDJ 1000 SRT have options and no longer will we see used SRT’s selling for $1800. Good job Pioneer
I don't see how this entry to mid level controller is going to change anything like that
The brand new 1000 srt costs like 50 bucks more than the rev-5 in my country, i love the battle layout but 50 bucks more for two more channels and hardware fx damn 😢
Great vid! That “pretty automated” comment was hilarious. Only us DJs got that reference. 😄
This is my very first upgrade and I am super excited!!! I currently have a DDJ-400 and am working professionally at 3 venues and starting to get consistent gigs.. just bought the Rev-5 today! It should be here in a few days and I am super pumped. Thanks for the review!!
Congrats on your new gigs :) do you notice a volume increase on the REV 5?
How’s the gigs coming along?
And how’s the Rev5? I’m thinkin of purchasing very soon!
If I didn’t just buy the REV-7, I would’ve absolutely bought this controller! Great review, as always Nick!
Does the rev 7 have the stem button as well?
I want a rev7 but seeing this. Maybe I might grab this. What you think? Is it better to buy the 7 or grab this?
I just bought the rev7 a few months ago and I had to literally just sent it back days ago to be repaired. That same day I bought me a rev5 😂
Funny, I was debating between the Rev7 and the FLX10. Well, this is the answer: Rev5, exactly what I needed + more. The Auto BPM feature for open format DJs is just fantastic, and you didn't even demonstrate the Autoloop function that can be used while Auto BPMing :)
Great review!
Just got mine having upgraded from the Rev1. I love it!
Nice one Nick! Was about to buy the FLX-10, glad they announced this before my order came in.
Now this is definitely a controller I may consider buying now. Thanks for the great review as always Nick stay rockin!
Dude, I've been on here watching most Videos about the Rev5. By Far the best Video about this device!!! Yo!! Show this video some Love!!!❤
Pioneer DJ literally just answered my prayers and then some with the DDJ-REV5!

The look on your face when you demonstrated the song transitions from low bpm to high was priceless it's the look of who the heck needs this 😂
the bpm transition feature is CRAZY

i'll stick with my rev7. great review Nick
I’m low key ecstatic that they finally made it for both Rekordbox and Serato. Appealing to both markets is genius.
Especially now that Pioneer acquired Serato.
Don't you mean high key ecstatic? 😅
Looks great, packed with features and at a good value. However, no built in effects or stand alone mixer is a big miss.
I used to DJ back in the 80's. It's crazy seeing how things have changed over the years.
Great preview, Nick. Basically, this is a budget Rev 7 with an amazing beatmatching feature. I put a high value on the motorized platter, myself, but if price was a limiting factor I'd go with this.
I'm torn, motorized platters seem awesome and fun but it adds parts which can be damaged and need repairs. This is a much safer bet for the long term
You just convinced me to buy this machine. I like the features
This is perfect for open format and battle-style DJs who want to upgrade from the Rev1 or don't want to spend a lot for the Rev7. I am waiting for Pioneer DJ to come wth a smaller version of the FLX 10.
Yup, was using the REV1 on smaller gigs when i didn't want to carry around my TT or CDJs and mixer. This is the answer.
Do you think the REV 7 sounds better/lounger than the REV 5?
Great video, I think I’ve found my first turntable lol. Thanks brother
definitely grabbing this
Are the functions equally effective for rekordbox? Or is it more a serato controller?
Hey Nick, thx for the review.
Could U do a tutorial for stems? Maybe for beginners, how to start or some ideas how to use them?
Would love to get your opinion on Rev5 vs FLX10 overall, price aside.
I heard that flx 10 has cue drift - tlm told me. For scratching and jogs think this is better imo
Do you think that STEM-EQ would come to REV-7 with a firmware update?
Maybe it will be possible to midi-map stem to the eq knob?
Your videos are top notch 🔥🔥🔥
Transisitons butto ...wow I do that LivE with the pitch fader now....kool for pioneer users😊.
"I wish I could have [eq stems] this on every mixer"
*laughs in VDJ*

funny i just commented how virtual dj been doin it for years lol serato and everyone else is so behind
Great review!!!

Exactly! Makes zero sense on a controller
I think it's to keep the feeling familiar.

M1 or m2 macbook will work get it with more ram
Really NICE, but no on board effects and no motorized platters? 🤔… I guess for the price, it’s something that can be overlooked
Haha, the auto transmission "silence" says it all what you think about it.
How does Rekordbox uses the bass and melody stems buttons as it doesn't have separate stems for that?
copping today🙌
Great job Nick! We all know the Rev 7 sounds amazing, how does this Rev 5 compare with regard to sound, card etc? Thank you!!
Mojaxx said it sounds great
Pioneer not playing no games 🔥
Nick thanks for your take on the Rev 5 . I own the 1000srt but this could be a nice addition
See you at the Expo
Regards Dj Johnny C
I was just saying its time for a new professional high but mid tier controller. I'm reluctant on taking my rev-7 out the house. This is more likey going to be a purchase I make.
I gig with my rev7 all the time but I'm thinking of getting the rev5 for the same reason
Hey Nick, are you planning on reviewing the new Hercules controller?
I got the Inpulse T7 yesterday which is a toy, cheap build quality. Was looking for a back up to my Rev 7 and the Hercules def doesn’t hold up and my fx lever was bent and defective right out the box it’s getting returned. May get a Rev 5 even though I’m not the biggest fan of mechanical platters.
It's not battle style bro...its philly style...created by a dj from Philly who taught Jazzy Jeff and Cash Money.😑
☠️💨10:34 …………………….. 10:34 💨☠️
9:10 lmfao….. “pretty cool, pretty automated……………….” ☠️💀💨

Because it's an entry level toy, no XLR or balanced outs, just rca.
@@machiventa858 I just run the sound through my computer. But, I could see how that would pose an issue in some venues.

That face when you finished talking about the auto bpm HAHAHA

Yeah im gettin this bad boy!! You're funny asl bruh!! lol
No hardware efx, major fail imo...does it have the same soundcard as the rev 7? If not another major fail..
I don't see any connections to plug in a sampler or rmx 1000 etc DJs 1000. Maybe I'm missing something. Which connection is that ?
Why they didn’t make it out a spinning player like Hercules i7
Sorry but not ok with this auto BPM transition thing, it takes away from the art of beat matching but I mean the market wants a world where every body is a world class Dj and never have to practice so cool for the investors.
Question for anyone who can help. How can my platter red indicator be cue at 12 o'clock. I would desire it set there. It's easier to see.
I'm torn between rev 5 and 7. I use 1k. And programmed my vdj to use channels 3/4 as Eq Stem controllers. Makes things so much fun!
What is the the name of the programme to use the channel 3/4 on Rev7
Got this bad boy arriving soon!
This thing is fuckin amazing
amazing
Why why why does pioneer put their headphone jacks on the right hand side? All our headphones wire from the left.
Holy cow, I have Technics turntables, a Rev7 and a Rev1, but I'm tempted to buy this.
So with the Stems feature. Do you still have to analyze songs in the Stems Crate?
Is there any difference in audio quality comparing this one with the flx10?
Yet another epic controller from Pioneer that caters for all the staunch laptop dj's dj's out there WHO just cant stand the thought of seeing the waveform. Man iEven a two track
Oh yes how do you hook up the USB C cord to your laptop if you don't have one to plug in?
no onboard effects for that price is a bit of a disappointment.
bro only 600$ of difference to the rev7. im sorry. my flx6 is tottaly fine.
1000 for non motorized platters nah I’ll pass
im having issues with my rane4 so might be switching over to this.
Anyone go with this over the flx10?
I have been using the DDJ 1000 for Rekordbox for the last 5 years. If I were to get this DDJ REV 5 is this a downgrade or an upgrade for me ? Lol

I feel Pioneer is copying virtual dj. If you have own any controller you can have these stem functions on it using virtual dj.

THIS JOINT MIXES FOR YOU 🤣🤣🤣🤣 not a big winner with me, BUT.. love the jog wheels☑!
Hi, you can try and tell me pls if the decksaver of rev7 fits for the rev 5 too? Thanks

crazy how this controller just got the idea of stems on eq's when virtual dj has had it for 3 years

The mic 🎤 in is very bad 😢
What does everyone get one the same day the new plastic toy from pioneer. Jog wheels are crap and so are the effects all software only No Thanks
Is this a downgrade from srt 1000
No onboard effects is the biggest downfall for me. Otherwise I'd love it.
10:32 when you realize the robots are slowly making djs obsolete.....
Question will the Rev 5 faceplate peel just like the Rev 7? Gotta keep it real🤷🏻♂️
