The official release of Dragon Ball Daima is confirmed. The official name is not Dragon Ball Magic. In the new series Dragon Ball Daima, Goku, Vegeta and the cast of dragon ball will be turning into kids again. Dragon Ball has effectively become Tiny Toons.

Thank god, a DBtuber who's not afraid to tell the truth. This isnt what people wanted but Toei and Toriyama love to keep spewing out unorginal content. GT already happened and yet they see more reason to attempt it a second time. On top of all the other issues turning the entire cast into children.
The only unoriginal thing about this is that Goku becomes a kid again. Everything else is new.

2 positive things I can get from this is the animation and probably powerscaling putting on the sideline for now. One gripe I have with this tho is the designs, like chi chi for example. If they're gonna revert everyone to a kid, why not bring back chi chi's old hairstyle?

I think it would have been a more interesting twist if Goten and Trunks were shown as their teen selves and they weren't around when the rest of the cast got turned into children. Imagine the hilarity of the two characters that were stuck as toddlers for an extra five years of their lives are suddenly the only grownups in the room. There's potential there that was gloriously skipped over with absolutely no consideration. Yeah they're babies now so they'll have even less to do than normal. Fantastic.

God I miss the days of when dragon ball was visceral, and the movies use to play heavy metal. I remember getting into rock because of dragon ball z Lord slug. Absolutely amazing film for those who want to see old DBZ movies.

I like how some people are complaining that Qaaman is speaking for fans or he judging based off of one trailer. He literally praised the animation and said to give it a chance with an open mind. You guys make it sound like he bitches and complains exclusively. The only complaints were the decision to make Daima as is presented and literally none of us asked for. Why are fans defending this idea? Do we just consume any Dragonball content to get our fill? I mean I guess it's no different than Naruto fans accepting Boruto because they just want more Naruto related content. Doesn't matter about how bad it is, they just want more Naruto right?
Fans care and complain because they are passionate about the things they like. Seeing everyone as kids is not exactly what I want to see in Dragonball. And before anyone says it's gonna be like Dragonball the original. I don't get those vibes at all. We all saw how GT did it and dropped the ball hard. The thing is characters like Yamcha, Tien and Oolong and Bulma and even Master Roshi are considerably a lot different than they are now. Maybe the experiences of Z and developing relationships and getting older changed their characters but they were all not the same, including Krillin and Goku. That chemistry is gone in Z because of the character's development. The original plot was hunting Dragonballs, and going on adventures and being naive. Z was mature and the fights is what sold it to us but adventure and seeking Dragonballs have no relevancy. Z besides the Frieza saga was just about getting stronger to protect Earth from a great evil threat. And Super was just overall retcon nonsense that felt like they tried to retain the original humor and charm of OG Dragonball, but failed because the Og Dragonball chemistry is now dead and can not be replicated with the current character progression.

While I am not as bothered by it as most people are and I'm kinda excited about it but I really like the points that you brought up here. Growing up I loved the violence and grit of Dragon Ball Z but now as an adult I'm a lot more geared towards the lighter side and the light hearted nature of Dragon Ball. I think this will be enjoyable but not too serious. I don't take modern Dragon Ball too serious.
I’m excited, but one thing that annoys me is how it just keeps going through the arcs of Z again. Or at least feeling like it. Broly was like the saiyan arc, also Frieza was there. Super hero was like the android/cell arc, not to mention cell max and Gohan beast. And now Babidi is in this trailer. These new series and movies are not as “new” as I would like. If you get what I mean.

DB had tons of grit and violence as well. Picollo Jr vs Goku might be the most violent fight in all of DB/DBZ. A lot of the brutality in the Goku Vegeta saiyan fight is copied from the piccolo jr goku fight

One thing that confuses me is that why they felt the need to turn everyone into kids when you already had Goten, Trunks and Pan?
And it's just because DB can't be successful unless you somehow shoehorn in Goku and Vegeta so they need to be kids too and i guess they let everyone else join in to make that seem less obvious.
I don't mind it that much. I didn't want this but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. The look of the show is amazing, with manga accurate colors, the DBZ character designer back, and great animation from in the trailer. Plus Toriyama has the most involvement in an animated project than any that came before. It's gonna be the closest project to his vision that we've seen in a long time.
I also think we can't look at it as a sequel or replacement. On it's own merits, I believe it'll be good if a bit childish.

It's more like Teen Titans Go where the original had teen heroes you could take serious and the stakes were high whereas now everything is a joke and really bad comedy.

I am going to watch it before I give my opinion. I wouldn't be surprised if Dragonball Daima starts off cute and by the midpoint becomes dark.

And Vegeta shouldn't have his widow's peak. A lot of these "child" designs are literally just chibi designs of the adult versions, and not actual children-- even though we know what child Vegeta, child Chi Chi, and child Piccolo look like, and Roshi had hair as a teenager/student under Mutaito, literally "I wasn't born bald".

I would be significantly LESS disappointed if they'd made this some type of a spin-off and done so earlier than 5 years later. If this is their offering after such large amounts of time available, then I feel offended as a fan.

But I’m not saying for them to have the ssj4 that was in GT, just for them to achieve the next step up from ssj3 which would be 4, what that would look like is dbs idk. But since they’re hybrids I kinda think they could play with their biology and makes grow tails at any point if they wanted to .
@karnage2948 SSJ4 in GT is already a "step-up" from SSJ3. You can tell from the design that SSJ3 takes a portion of the Oozaru's power and mixes it in with a hypercharged super saiyan, while SSJ4 comes full circle with that idea

Okay, so I know this is for kids. I get that. Few things.
1. Wasn't super already on a kids timeslot? I know they have that whole legal thing, but it seemed having a cast of mostly adults was fine. I grew up watching DB and mostly Z and I was like 6 or 7 watching that shit. I mean ESPECIALLY Z. That was violent as fuck, very dark at times too. That shit still appealed to children, my classmates throughout years and different schools-- I always knew kids who also loved Z. It sold toys, and yknow what many adults have? Figurines. Adult toys. Those sell too!
2. Why alter current characters or use them? Or if you would use them, why not Goten and Trunks, who have never been doing much since the Buu saga? Pan? Maron? Why not the other universe Saiyans? Why not a whole new cast?
I realize it's Toryiama's series and he can do what he wants-- He HAS, and he *WILL* do that, and I already know that. But I cannot help but ask myself these questions when I see it. I have probably aged out of the target demo maybe, I don't know. I'm 25, and a few years ago I was already iffy on some things with Super.

Exact Man, Dragon Ball is not a children's show it is a shonen show of fights. That they do this garbage shows how little respect they have for the fans. Even one piece and boruto that are a shonen like dragon ball have serious plots and would never do an atrocity like this.
With Goku at least I get the idea, Goku was introduced as a child, and early on Goku's innocence was one of his primary character traits. With everyone else however ❔

In Dragonball their purpose was to be foils to Goku, while Goku was ignorant, Krillen & Bulma were relatively smart, Bulma being a literal genius, & Krillen often using tricks and streetsmarts in his conflicts. Goku was so innocent that he didn't really even understand that differences between boys and girls, while Krillen & Bulma were both a tad perverted in their own ways; Bulma was a bit boy crazy, and we see Krillen steal porn magazines and other stuff. As far as I have seen neither character's past personality is really replicated in their regressed bodies, meanwhile Son Goku because he's been a static character he acts fairly similar to how he did as a kid, just with a bit more knowledge.
I thought Master Roshi was Krillin.
Bringing back super would have been an L. Moro arc sucks, granola arc sucks. Dragon ball super hero was garabage. Nobody cared about the series after the anime ended.

I will watch this because I have tolerated the voice switch from Ocean Studios to Funimation way back then ( bruh nothing can touch Ocean/ Saban Entertainment in quality ) and also tolerated the dip in hand to hand combat amazing fights like adult Goku verses Tien or Goku vs Turles) after the third DBZ movie even though my boy Goku still amazing as always. We loved the ORIGINAL kid Goku....the one from Dragon Ball. You can't re-capture the spirit and innocence of the original kid Goku by turning Adult Goku back into a kid again. He's been through too much,seen too much,and experienced too much to be the naive little 12 year old we all saw and fell in love with.

DBS could have been perfect for the 40th anniversary of dragon ball the continuation of the series after 5 or 6 years, but instead we get tiny toons when all we wanted was MORO.

You call it Tiny Toons? Wanting the characters younger after 40 years, I think "Dragonball Midlife Crisis" is also appropriate.
I have optimism for it. In reality, dragonball super is really not exactly what we want either. We’ll never have the serious plots and violence of the original DB/DBZ, so… who really cares if they go in a different direction… maybe this is really Toriyama’s attempt to get Dragonball back on track. Maybe everyone getting turned into a kid is just for one saga of this new show.
Part of me wonder’s if this is to get around the impending issues that were approaching with the timeline of Super needing to fit in between the 10 year gap at the end of Z.
Part of me thinks maybe it’s just a full retcon, and a way to get a younger audience involved since by the end of Z and GT most of the characters are drawn as looking “old” - specifically the humans.
Who knows if it’s gonna be over the top kiddish, or if they’ll find a way to have it similar to the OG DB/DBZ.

I was thinking the exact same thing, it’s just must easier to restart than turning everyone to kids. We see the multiverse being done somany times that it’s a perfect chance to just do it that way.

...I liked tiny toons. I don't want dragonball to turn into tiny toons, but all the 90's comedies were awesome. Tiny toons, Freakazoid, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, etc. That stuff was all comedy gold.

You guys are really overlooking a lot of the plot and not giving this show a fair chance jumping all to conclusions just coz "kIdZ.. boring". The plot for once seems intresting with maybe finally a more in depth canon exploration of the demon realm and the new planets or what i assume is a planet is looking really cool (i love how the islands look like onions)
Also the fact that one of the new character looks like a kaioshin is intresting and why are they watching Dabura and Boo with so much attention? Idk to me the plot might be even more intresting than what meets the eye and you shouldn't be judging just for one aspect

I love that they’re kids, bringing back that adventure aspect and a new story written by Toriyama himself this is something he wanted to do. It’ll explore new lore and answer mysteries of the dragon ball world
So does the fan base owe GT an apology as at least GT kept Goku's character plus his base form going back to a child ultimately helped him especially when u consider that when he went SSJ4 he went back to an adult body

as for GT it had its mix of action and adventure. some decent and epic arcs. tho it could have done better in

It's incredibly hard to try to find any sense and/or continuity in Toeis handling of Dragonball. For years they were absolutely desperate too keep it alive/bringing it back. They made GT. They made the Son Goku and Friends special, they made Kai and they made the One Piece Crossover. When Toriyama die come back in 2013, it must have been an absolute godsent to them, so much so they halfassed and rushed Super in 2015, with well known results.
Then when DB Super got to a point where it was really popular and good in 2018, something that must have been a dream for Toei for years, it came to a grinding halt. And kinda just disappeared again. We got Broly in 2018 and Super Hero in 2022, but aside from the Manga, there was nothing for 4-5 years, the infamous 2019 rumors aside. Instead Toei rebooted Digimon, did Dragon Quest and focused on One Piece as the big cash cow.
Now they come back with a well treated show for the 40th anniversary, and a concept few people asked for. At times it really does feel like Toei will do literally anything instead of just giving us a well animated Super Anime/Reboot. And I completely understand people who are frustrated by now.
With most of Toeis top fogs now locked into One Piece or DB Daima for the next 2-3 years, we likely won't get a Super Continuation for another 5 years, maybe never if Daima flopps. It's one giant mess.
As for Daima itself, I have very mixed feelings. I will give Toei that they have put a lot of effort into it. According to AnimeAjay, Daima has been in production since 2021, with episodes being worked on since last year, legend Nakatsuru being the character designers and many of the big names of Super coming over, and a close involvment of Toriyama. It's clear this is something they want to make and put proper effort in and not another rushed cashgrab like Super was immn the beginning. And so far the animation is top notch.
I'm also willing to give it a chance before completely shitting over it. Toriyama has taken some controversial ideas (old enemies returning, Evil Goku, Broly, Super Heroes) and turned them into interessting (by no means perfect) stories in recent years, so maybe he will do better than GT.
That being said, turning everyone into kids again is a walk on egg shells that can easily fall appart and undermine the past 30-40 years of growth and progression of both the characters and the audience.
My biggest fear is that timeline wise, this will take place after DB Super Hero, but still within the 10 years before the end of Z, with a big focus on comedy. Which at the end of the day is amother big nothing burger as we already know the outcome.
I bet you the fandom would have been on board & hyped, had the cast not became children and knew absolutely nothing about the show at all.
I personally don’t mind this. I’m willing to give it a shot because i just genuinely love dragonball. Ngl I am a bit skeptical on whether this will be good but. I’ma try it out
My little nieces and nephews dont even watch anime. I only ever hear them talking about youtube people. So something like this wont even be on their radar.
The future of Dragonball hasnt looked this bleak since the release of Dragonball Evolution 😢
