Good news and bad news alike has come for fans of Dragon Ball who have been awaiting the continuation of Dragon Ball Super. Originally leaked under the title “Dragon Ball Magic”, the plotline that the series would follow was believed to be about the Supreme Kai and Goku having been turned into children, but this was left unconfirmed by Toei at the time, and it left plenty of speculation up as to what direction Dragon Ball was headed, and fears abounded that Toei was about to repeat the “mistakes” of Dragon Ball GT. (I mean, I personally loved GT, so cope.) But during special panel for Dragon Ball at the New York Comicon of 2023, Dragon Ball: DAIMA was officially revealed, a statement being given by series author Akira Toriyama, which stated the following. "Hello. I'm Akira Toriyama. I'm currently working on a new Dragon Ball. The title is "Dragon Ball DAIMA". "DAIMA" is a made-up term, which in Japanese characters would be "大魔" or in English would be something like "Evil." Due to a conspiracy, Goku and his friends are turned small. In order to fix things, they'll head off to a new world! It's a grand adventure with intense action in an unknown and mysterious world. Since Goku has to make up for his petite size, he uses his Nyoibo (Power Pole) to fight, something not seen in a long time. I came up with the story and settings, as well as a lot of the designs. I'm actually putting a lot more into this than usual! Things will unfold that close in on the mysteries of the Dragon Ball world. Hope you all enjoy these different-from-usual battles that are cute and powerful!!" This new series generated waves in the Dragon Ball Commnity, receiving mixed opinions about the new series, fearing it might follow in the footsteps of GT which has received primarily negative reviews by anime fans since its release in 1996. So, what are the differences and similarities between Dragon Ball: DAIMA and it’s predecessor GT? What will be carried over? What will be removed? When does the story take place? And the biggest question on everyone’s mind, will it be canon? Let’s take a quick look into it to see if we can answer any of these questions.

I’m very excited for Dragonball Daima it gives me nostalgia of OG Dragonball with its emphasis on adventure and martial arts. I’m happy to see Kid Goku agian and using the Power Pole agian.
I did not like OG Dragon Ball how power creep became so bad in Dragon Ball Super the plot became repetitive. Black Frieza, Orange Piccolo, Pink Gohan... I hope this series feels fresh
@@heroesismid8694Toriyama needs better world building. OGDB was great, DBZ slightly increased at an angle, Super spoiled in one direction, and GT tried to inflate but failed. Kid Goku,Vegeta,& Piccolo would've been fine for an arc, just have the 3 travel for a year looking for the Dragon Balls in weakened states while revisiting OGDB locations with a catch up on old characters, some backstory to Vegetas life as a kid and Saiyan culture up to him arriving on Earth, and Piccolo describing his, Nails,&Kamis different memories and choices in life. Something that should've happened is Uub, Trunks,& Goten training together& under the Z Warriors and traveling around the world to look for the Dragon Balls as the new Team 3 Star with Gohan not allowed to show them battle poses. The Cell Jrs could be their own recurring enemies along with random monsters and doing tasks for Dende

Chiming in the eyebrows thing was showing that they were ramping up to they primal forms in SSJ 3 I actually like that it made the transformation more unique in my opinion
My thoughts on the ssj3 lack of eye brows was that all the hair on his body went to his head 😂

Na dude that’s wrong the black star dragon balls got that way from the z fighters using them too much and filling the dragon balls with negative energy, because normally it would take around 100 years to find them but since they are able to do so easily the negative energy didn’t have enough time to go away.

I liked the concept of GT, with the whole past mistakes and choices coming back to cause problems, and they just can’t use the dragon balls. It was more how it was executed that I wasn’t a fan of.
It usually comes down to execution because anime in general has rush schedules. And we know they have a rush schedule already.
13 episode seasons make sense instead of trying to crap out 50-100 episodes at once

To create this, as yourself admit, rushed thing, for 40 years aniversity instead continuation of cannon and super, is a proof how bad will it be. Just to remind you. Superheroes were before this and it was also non canon and very bad. 2 shows in row that no one wants. Thats the problem. And the fact its 40 years of aniversity is making it even more worse and how lazy they are. Very bad usage of several years they had to continue super. They had time.
So instead of avoiding Dragon Ball GT timeline, they are going to try to take a whack at their own version of the concept

@@pauliewalnuts2527 Yes we did. And its the fans that talk about this and how its a bad idea. Not some fake damage control accounts. Non canon crap after non canon crap called db superheroes, 2 craps in row, for a 40 years of aniversity is a big big no no.
from what I remember when I first saw GT, I though it makes sense for Goku's form in SSJ4 to not be a child, more precisely, to not matter what his "non-ape" form is, because, even as a child, when he transforms into a great Ape, he is still gigantic, and controlling that state will transform his body into either the best form he can imagine, or the maximum potential his body's DNA can achieve using both Ape and "Human" form. This also means that SSJ4 will be just as strong no matter how young, OR old, he is, he basically temporary transform into another alien.
RIP Akira Toriyama, you will be missed.

GT was made by artist that work with Toriyama so I'm sure that the whole entire GT plot was already planned by Toriyama but for Daima and the way we are getting it now just like that non Canon Broly movie we got! My point is forget about GT and let's see what Toriyama does with Daima because I'm sure this is what we were supposed to get!

I would have been happy if they just remade/expanded on OG Dragonball. Kid Goku was so cute and charming. And to this day its Toriyamas beat art design.
The way the Dragon Balls will be able to affect everyone who was previously immune to Shenron was explained in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero when Dende upgraded Shenron to increase his power.

Really? Here I thought SSJ4 was why a lot of people disliked GT.. I remember when I was a teen and watch it, I thought Super Saiyan 4 looked dumb but I liked the whole goku turning into a kid. And I thought it was so dumb that Goku would turn into an adult when he used Super Saiyan 4.
To me it seems like everytime Goku and the team become kids they have more time to become strong and reach another news form they do age they are moral so hopefully we see a new form or new level of a form

I wouldn't be surprised if the missing arcs become movies. There is potential there to make two great movies that would allow for alot of Dragon Ball over the next 3-5 years.
I think Goku is using his power pole to make up for lack of reach since his arms are shorter

My ultimate hope is that as Goku is basically a god. Him using the power pole in this makes it relevant again for a different reason. Goku will then realize the pole having mystical abilities allows his powers to be grounded and amplified as a God.

@@mistergio6742 Yeah, but tbh honest, with the way he's wielding that power pole, something tells me that the beings that did this to them also reverted their powers and abilities back to how they were when they were children, so I feel like Goku can't even transform into a Super Saiyan the way he is in Daima, he probably can't use kaioken either, his body the way it is wouldn't be able to handle it's power I don't think.
As a matter of fact, I didn't see him use any ki attacks in the trailers either, so I'm wondering if they can even use ki in the state they're in.
All of the Saiyan’s tails should be starting to grow back since they’re kids again. And after the movie they have full grown tails again
I always favored the theory that Super Saiyan 4 rapidly aged Goku to his physical prime and when he left the form his body returns to the state it was prior to transforming tho It makes as much sense as the stronger then Shinron theory

Not commenting on Daima itself, but the time after Super could have been used by Toriyama to create a more "correct" multiverse for Dragon Ball. I consider Super a relatively huge success in terms of crafting a more expansive DB-verse, and is a redemption after the GT mess (story-wise). DB is an OG anime that we, fans, want to see EXPANDED. We could care less about animation style and other quirks (like turning them into children? tf!?). We want the DB world explained and expanded. Super was very successful in this expansion aspect with the multiverse, gods, angels, kais, and Zeno-sama. We want more of them. We want a deeper connection with them. Stories about them. Fights about and with them. Toriyama can make a series for each universe (their problems, sufferings, etc) with little to no involvement of Goku and the gang and you can already expect a huge audience, a satisfied audience, out of it. The universe survival saga in Super piqued our interest in the new planets, characters, and their unique lives and relationships. For example, Universe 11 and the pride troopers. My god. It was glorious to see snapshots of their way of life, especially Toppo. You see, us fans want more of them. And how the main DB gang can interact and be involved with them. The promotional anime Heroes almost did a good job of creating more interactions with some of these new characters but it fell short in many areas and is too fast-paced, not to mention it is not canon.
The problem with Toriyama and the studios is that they keep on EXPERIMENTING on DB in aspects that do not need experimenting. This kind of experimentation affects the story, which is the backbone we fans are holding on to, and creates problems that make it difficult for us fans to create deeper love and interest in DB. Toriyama could have spent time on both crafting new stories and fixing the broken DB-verse, instead of playing with unnecessary stuff like what I expect Daima to be. One Piece is a perfect example of staying true to the STORY and still being able to create surprises about its CHARACTERS. Both the story and characters have progressions. This is what DB lacks in general. Toriyama failed a lot of its characters by not exploring more truths about them.
GT got negative reviews for being pure garbage

I hope this doesn't affect the Cannon. The Cannon is Dragon ball, Dragon ball Z, and Dragon Ball Super. Gt, Kai, and Diama are non cannon. Will be a fun adventure to watch nonetheless. Seems like it's trying to drawn off the Nostalgia of classic dragon ball. Most excited to seen Kid Vegeta again last time we seen kid Vegeta was flash backs in super/ Broly Movie.
I forgot who said it but i think one of the kais mentioned the ss4 brought the body to the absolute prime, which is why goku got older and vegeta got slightly younger in the transformation

Im calling it now , z fighters have to utilise magic instead of ki , but we find out magic is somehow linked to your kife force like ki is , then they cannonise ssj4 as like some sort of "super sayian magic" or using magic to unlock a sayians power and causing transformation , not too far fetched considering a *ritual* was used in BOG
Here's the thing: fiction is properly created through passion and ideas, not to pander to a fanbase. It doesn't matter who likes what. Toriyama gonna do what he wants and thats how it *should* be. Get. Over. It.

They could make SSJ4 a magical transformation. Putting it on a realm of it's own. Magic in dragonball is rather wild and separate from powerlevels I think. With the mafuba being able to trap the likes of Zamasu fusion.
My theory was that Daima will have the chibi arc, demon arc then continue with the manga etc. hopefully thats the route!
Dragon ball has completely fucked power levels now. Power levels didn’t mean shit before now it’s not even a thought it seems. Goku and vegeta wasted decades of training it seems.
In my view, given the notably subpar animation quality of Dragon Ball Super, it would be advantageous for Akira Toriyama to consider a comprehensive reboot of the series. Such a reboot could not only enhance the visual appeal but also establish a more cohesive link between the Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super timelines, effectively addressing and resolving any narrative discontinuities. Furthermore, I believe there is a significant opportunity to reanimate and reimagine the entire Dragon Ball Super anime from its inception, thereby elevating the series to a higher standard of quality. This revamped version could then seamlessly extend the storyline to include the events of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, and potentially, further developments in the saga.
I personally prefer super back and continue other universe exploration

Personally i liked gt. Galaxy tour was a good concept, the release of gold oozaru and then level 4 was great. The personality of goku in level 4 made sense, its the evolution of rage, just a purely calm, super serious, deadly powerful form. Plus baby was a cool new villain and the dragons later were a good idea.
Nobody wanted more Ubb… Daima looks cool. I loved GT skipped first arc and started at Baby and loved it

Theory here but what if when android 17 revived all the universes that zeno destroyed that it revived not just the TOP universes but others as well. Zeno is supposed to be a good guy but is very kid like but yet the angels follow him. What if he had an opponent that made him a child and thus this person does the same to main cast. Just an idea though.

dragon balll gt is still the most based since goku, trunk and pan travel to a highly capitalistic and corrupt planet and made housing a universal right among the people on the planet lol, Goku specifically saying the ruler could no longer charge tenants lol. No other series (in the Dragon Ball catalog) has something so based and pointed against our world system.
I liked GT, that doesn't mean I like the direction they're going, and that doesn't mean I won't watch Daima.

Daima events start after end of Z, so if Goku would achieve SSJ4 in Daima, he would already have this for by the start of GT, because it starts after 10 years time skip after Z... So no SSJ4 in Daima!
gohan beast form could be a variation of super saiyan 4 but cant transform in to a monkey because he is missing the tail. in conclusion super saiyan four might be called beast form which makes a lot more sense.

if they do make DAIMA considering what happened. Do people really think they don't know the problems to avoid that GT had? is the kid again aspect really that off setting? it is a good way to re-use known characters for a new story, that seems nothing like GT based on magic & not collecting dragon balls throughout space/universe. is one common part of the theme really that damming to some people? When so much else would need to be different.

Would turning buu back into a child just make him disappear or turn him into kid buu?
He existed before the universe and never aged a day, he doesnt have a child form.
Kid buu is just the form to describe him.without his recent fusions but we dont know how many he absorbed before being introduced so kid buu is not his child form.

I would kindly disagree with the statement that ssj4 is weaker than anything in super because it was stated that it could be on par with super Saiyan god the red version. And the original creator of dragon came up with the design it's possible that 4 will be Goku ultimate power if it becomes canon.
Dragon Ball Z had fantastic continuity when it came to power levels. Dragon Ball GT was atrocious at it. Goku could do these amazing feats, but then struggled with tasks that should have been mundane compared to his power level. Dragon Ball Super, got back to good continuity. Diama would have a very difficult time to maintain continuity if Goku is using his power pole again. I hope they do it right. I really just wanted more super.
Broly is my main they need ot bring back Z Broly as a new outfit for Broly, as a throwback or nod to Z Broly since he is Cannon now
